Your videos have been so helpful in me switching her to all raw food diet and wanted to say thank you. Loved the video!! We go to a sushi resturant near our house to pick up salmon heads as they don't use those, they source fresh whole fish so we take it home, clean it, cut off pieces and freeze them before feeding it to my dog. It's a great way to reduce food waste as they would of thrown it out and what's even better, IT'S FREE!?!?! They don't mind us picking up some salmon heads once every week or so

Here in New Zealand there are a few "weird" options available from time to time , most of which are pest species or unusual farmed animals. Some of the weirder ones my dog has tried include: alpaca (farmd for wool), peacock (pest, wild caught), and possum (pest, wild caught). My dog loves everything but possum which has a strange musty smell. Horse meat and venison is pretty common too but I think those are more "normal" options.
@PawsofPrey2 жыл бұрын
So interesting! Peacock is a pest? I would have never guessed that lol
@ciwefagomal2 жыл бұрын
New Zealand has very unique animal/plant biodiversity, so anything that was introduced when Europeans arrived that isn't farmed is considered a pest. There were a lot of game mammals (deer, hymalayan tahr, chamois, wild pig, goat, sheep, rabbit, hare, wallaby, possum) and some birds (introduced duck, peacock, canada goose etc.) that were introduced and have exploded in numbers because they are no natural predators here. So people hunt them and sell them to raw pet food stores :) It is a bit strange because some of the Australian species (possum and wallaby) are protected in Australia, but are absolute menaces to the NZ flora/fauna, and are allowed to be hunted. Peacock is pretty lean and kinda like turkey I think? I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between them visually. I haven't tried it myself so maybe it tastes different lol

Tangy's reactions to the meat are so cute and I laugh each time when Matsu takes the chunk out of his plate. One of my cats does exactly the same thing. They would keep growling while eating frog legs to guard their food even though no one would actually grab it from them😅I tried beef ovaries from rfm once with them and they loved it.
