Rooney and Farag are the most sporting players in the mens game atm.

From my point of view it looked like Soliman could've gotten the ball (if he'd guessed right), however he first stepped to the left and then ran into Rooney's back, so a no let is correct IMO.

rooney completely outplayed him the whole game, only solomans speed and fitness kept him in it

The drop on the last ball was too good, no way Soliman would have got it, it was too close to the wall, even if he adjusted his line in time

The last ball should be a let. There is no other line. And the pace of soliman movement means he could reach comfortably.

Soliman initially guessed wrong and jump-stepped to the left corner first. I think that's what made it a no let

@@cookesam6 at this level even if he went the wrong way he could still get it.. It's a little harsh

No let. The line to the ball is to the right. You can't just run into your opponents back and expect a let or stroke.

@@tascolino538 If you watch in slow mo, by the time the ball hits the front wall (which is the point at which it becomes Soliman's turn to hit the ball), Soliman has finished his split step and moves directly towards where the ball is. And it looks like he'd be able to get it. So it should be a let

Agreed, its a definite let there was enough time to still hit the ball and just player traffic. Ball was not tight and was not in the nick and he could get to it so 100% let.

If it had been me, I'd have given "stroke" ..... just to avoid any implications of bias. It was an easy "let" . So what if he went the wrong way initially... the shot was awful and if he had been allowed to get to it, he would have had an easy winner. Only possible reason for not giving stroke might have been that the initial wrong move restricted Rooney's clearance, so Soliman sorta stitched himself up..... still should have been a let.

If you do something in the opposite way due to bias, then you are still biased. But that's why the referee should not be from the same country as the players, which I do believe is the case usually.
