WHY I OFTEN DON'T MENTION OTHER BRANDS IN MY VIDEOS.
You may have noticed that I often don't mention the original brands that watches I am reviewing pay homage to. This is very intentional and not meant to offend you or the original brands. I lost my first channel in October 2020 which I had spent 9 months growing and invested a significant amount of money in simply because I had mentioned the original brands in some of my videos. There are people who try to use KZbins lack of understanding when it comes to the difference between homage watches and fake watches to attack other channels and their owners and sadly I fell foul of this in 2020. This channel was also attacked recently and KZbin deleted content simply because I had said 'subby homage' and 'Rolex homage' in two videos despite the watches in the videos being perfectly legal homage watches. Please understand that I can not afford to risk my channel so I will no longer be mentioning other brands when reviewing homage watches.

I'm with Simon. I got caught up in all the hype and tried valiantly to find one. I wouldn't submit to paying a premium for this watch so I waited and waited trying various stores along the way. Eventually my enthusiasm died down and now I'm eternally grateful I didn't buy one

Well if the intention was to get more people interested in watches it did work with me. Back in 2022 I didn’t even own a watch, didn’t know the difference between quartz and automatic, and could only name a few watch brands (Omega being one of them). I read a news article about the MoonSwatch and was interested but the closest Swatch store is in NYC so I never saw one in person. I ended up doing a bunch of research and ended up with a Seiko 5 instead. Since then I’ve added a couple more Seikos, a couple Casios, made half a dozen SKX mod watches, and Swatch group still got their money when I bought a Hamilton Khaki last year.

Just because It has Omega on the dial doesn't make it an Omega and shouldn't be compared to the real deal. I don't understand why people's expectations are so high on a cheap plastic watch. Swatch always made cheap disposable watches that looked fun and exciting. Clearly, Swatch knows what they are doing.

I was intrigued by this watch but there was no way I was going to pay $265 USD for one. So I went on AliExpress and bought all 12 watches for around $300. They look almost identical and work great. I bought them strictly for display purposes but I have been wearing the Saturn watch on and off for about a year now. I just checked it and it's running about 45 seconds fast. The watch still looks great, no fading, wear or damage to the watch. Definitely a great buy.

One thing, indeed, is that most reviewers tend to bend and say, 'Okay, it gives you the opportunity for this and that blah blah,' behaving all diplomatic-like. But when it comes to the next PaganiSteelDrive, if there's a spot where the stainless steel isn't finished the exact same way they want it, they go on a rant. This watch did exactly what it was supposed to do, separate people from their money. There is nothing collectible, valuable, historical, etc, about the moonswatch. I have this watch! Not a Swatch but an imitation from Ali Express. It’s the first and only time I’ve bought a knock-off watch but I thought I’d pay £19 and try it out before spending on the real thing. It’s almost identical to the Swatch/Omega Mission to the Moon and was enough to scratch the itch without forking out on the real thing. Came complete with the identical Velcro strap and even came in the moonswatch bag and identical box. It’s running perfectly, keeps great time (it’s a Quartz after all) and the chrono pushers work and feel just like the real watch (compared it to a mates). Makes me wonder how much it cost Swatch to make these watches? Needless to say, I haven’t bought the real thing.

The hype never got me, but i went into a swatch store for the first time ever a couple of months ago and asked to try a moon swatch on from the window. They bought out a tray with with all the moon swatches and all the plastic blancpain's, which was cool. I get the sense that they thought it was kind of a big deal. Although i actually like the colours and think it's pretty fun, i could not see the value in these at all! They really do just feel like cheap plastic watches with ill fitting straps. The blancpains were maybe a little cooler but the premium price is totally unjustifiable. Especially with some of the great chronographs that have been coming out of Timex for similar money atm. I think they have a place in the market but at maybe 1/3 the asking price.

I was thinking of getting the ceramic BlancPain 50 fathoms but not in the market for a disposable watch. So I pulled the trigger on a WatchDives WD50FK 1 Fifty Fathoms for $79. plus $5 shipping. 40mm and they've brought the lug to lug down to 48mm. Yeah mineral glass but let's face it .... I won't be using it as a hammer. For $30 more you get the sapphire crystal and matte ceramic bezel insert. It is arriving tomorrow!

There is the idea of milking the Omega name which isn't great but the worst aspect of these things is that they hadn't been out long and we started hearing of bits breaking off. So the its expensive rubbish. Nothing wrong with a plastic watch in its place. I've got a Casio MRW200H-1BV which goes sailing with me, it's taken some biffs and spent time under water. It's got some barely noticeable scratches and still works like new and cost me £17 and I don't mind anyone seeing it.

When I received the email about the release of the Moonswatch I was quite interested, but living in regional Queensland (Australia) there was no swatch store to look at them so i emailed about buying one online and was advised I had to buy in-store only. Then seeing the lineups and the poor reviews I was glad i had passed on it but luckily I visited a local pawnbroker and picked up a Pulsar chrono which is almost identical to the Omega and it's made of steel and it set me back the princely sum of only $40 Australian, so it was a win win situation.

The only problem with this watch is price point... now you can get them for just north of £200 they are almost making sence but do need to be sub 160....then they become another part of the Swatch collecting bug if that still exists. Many old Swatch watches jellies and scubas for example are fetching reasonable money so no reason not to think these would proberbly do the same but again price point will kill that dead.

I've said this time and again. This is a watch that looks like an Omega Speedmaster (if you squint!) It has Omega Speedmaster written on the dial. It's not made by Omega. It Is thus a fake. Maybe a completely legal fake rather than a full on Chinese fake Speedmaster but still a fake, and on the hand a far worse watch in every other aspect. And the price is the final insult, you can buy better fakes of the MoonSwatch or the real Speedmaster with Seiko mecha-quartz mechs for far less. Bearing in mind the "gen" (MoonSwatch ) is cheap tat with a plastic case and "crystal" and it's still not made by Omega does that just make it a better watch? For about £80?

Without Swatch, nearly all of the Swiss watch industry would have gone bankrupt. Mr Hayek had a good economic feeling in the 1980s with his plastic watches. The cheap plastic tickers, saved the luxury watch business of Switzerland.

I recently purchased a genuine, 25 year old Omega Deville quartz dress watch in mint condition for a little more than a new MoonSwatch Had it verified by an authorised Omega repairer too So you really can have the real deal for similar money to this toy watch

The name on the dial is the only reason to spend 270 on it. You are now discovering that the name on the dial is the only reason to spend 8k on a rolex. What omega and rolex know is that there are more people who want the name than enthusiasts who want a quality watch. First of all i dont own one and i dont want one! Its probably about 100$ overpriced because of that Omega logo but than again a Tudor is probably about a 1000$ over priced because of its Rolex connection and people might say you only bought it because of that connection. So witch one is more of a cash grab and embarrassing to wear? 🤔

I thought they were going to be good fun and had budgeted for one a month and a a display box, then after all the hype, I got one and it was crap! It was a way for the Swatch to get footfall into the swatch stores. The Blancpain thing is garbage as well🤬

You can get a decent Seiko for that price . Plastic fantastic does not work for me . Casio , yes . Luminox yes .

Ohh no! You know whats more embarresing Gary? People saying these are good watches. Are they blind? I have some inspired (not clomages) that doesnt mean i would buy a defective, poorly designed and made watch just for the original logo on it. Like my Spinnaker Fleuss.. far far betteer than the Blancrap.. Do people know that those luxury brands also make bad watches sometimes? Lets say theres an Invicta style Omega thats falling apart for third of the original price. Would they still buy it just for the logo? I always say buy and wear what you want and makes you happy. Butttt I also say pisswatch and Blancrap. i like Simon, solid guy.. :)

to an ordinary non watch enthusiast... what's a good watch? I am currently wearing a Hamilton Jazzmaster Maestro - one still having the Valjoux movement inside. I love it and it is a good watch - I'd consider. The Moonswatch I own, I consider a nice collectible - wouldn't get a second one but I like the Saturn on the dial. Whenever the battery is draining empty, I will go to the Swatch Store, they will replace the battery for free and if they detect a scratched crystal, they'll polish it for free. That's just an easy watch life. If it breaks, it's for the bin. Has been like that since the 1980s. I am really big time surprised of all the anger that arises nowadays to a concept that has never been any different apart from the branding. A Swatch has never ever been a watch for a watch enthusiast...

@@gwaeggi the straps stiching comes easily undone. The case leaves color marks if you sweat. The pushers fall off. The lug holes become wider if you replace straps more than a few times. If they made it as good as a 20$ casio i wouldnt be as "mad" and whether you are a watch collector or not, selling a defective product is just wrong. Alot of people are saying its a good entry way to watch collecting. Well, i got one of my nephews an orient. The other an integrated bracelet powered by an nh35 and a mechaquartz for my brother in law. In five years they all will still have their watches, without babysitting it. Saying they care abt the planet and making a disposable defective product? Bottom line is, you get what you want and makes you happy. Good for you.. That doesn't mean i wont criticize the swatch group when it is justified.

For the price its verh dksapointing,and for this price swatch have a lot of automatique mouvment and this homage wil deserve an automatique minimum,the argument that it will be too expensive is nkt valable today,an automatique mouvment dont cost too much,and also a real strap...
