I share the same sentiments with you. I got mine recently in Vienna on a trip with my mother and she bought it for me; it’s something that has a huge sentimental value now; something to remind me of Vienna, my trip, and the bond and fun I had with my mother. People should relax and just enjoy the watch, as we all do/did when we got our Swatches.

For me the watch is all about the story. I’m quite young (teenager) and this was my first watch. I got the watch on the initial release by camping out with friends for over 20 hours and it was such a fun experience that I’ll never forget. The experience resonated with me to the point that I passed on the £500 profit I could’ve made at the time and decided to keep the watch. If it was all for the materialistic aspect of the watch, I would’ve sold it ASAP, it’s not a watch worth the price but every time I look at that watch when I wear it, it reminds me of the: crazy interactions we had in the night, Americans who were out partying coming and dancing, the rush and buzz from everything that was occurring, etc. I’m not really one that attaches experiences/emotions to materialistic things tbh but this one hit different

I love watches but I never understood this massive hate on smart watches in the horological community. Even though it's called "the watch" because of it's form factors and well, because it shows time, it really is just a wearable computer. It doesn't compete with traditional watches that much and basically exists in it's own realm. I don't know any single watch enthusiast who stopped wearing their timepieces/stopped being enthusiast because of smartwatches. If other people did it, it's because they were never really that much into traditional watches or because the smartwatch provided them with functionality they needed. So why not let those people be. Apologies for the little rant and congrats to your gf. It wasn't directed at you, just wanted to share some thoughts.

I had a Jupiter for a few weeks and only wore it twice before selling it again. If they were cheaper and easier to get a hold off, I'd say the Moonswatches were a fun collectible, but being really hard to get a hold of and being too expensive for what you get, kinda leaves a bad taste in the mouth. Having been a watch collector (from my dad to me and to my son and daughter, now) - I was caught up with all the buzzy and hoopla around the Moonswatch (like millions of others). After being very frustrated with the lines and striking out on buying even my 1st through the Christmas holidays, I basically wrote off getting one. Then, on a holiday trip to Kota Kinabalu (Malaysia), much like the narrator, I walked into the main Swatch store, no line and they had a good selection of Moonswatches… over 3 days, picked-up 3. Got the 4th back home in Manila. Yes - they are more “toy” than substance and, delicate too… But, they are fun and it is easy to see why there is such a fever and continued one at that till now. I liken my investment to something to enjoy over its life, which should be a tad longer than a couple of decent bottles of wine over a dinner over the course of a year. So, in short - I enjoy my investment.

I received a Mission to Uranus over the holidays as gift from my wife. We enjoy the tongue and cheek humor of the name. I personally really enjoy it the way I loved my Casio's and Swatches growing up. I know it's a Quartz plastic watch but the color of it and the fun nature of it makes me smile. Growing up, it was cool to have multiple Swatches to wear to school throughout the week and this Moonswatch reminds me of that fad but with a higher price tag. The Swatch store in Houston (The Galleria) had several and after inspecting it, I could see how flimsy the construction looked, particularly the tach buttons and immediately opted against falling for the trap. If you want an Omega, just save an extra 200 bucks on top of what this toy retails and get a vintage piece. Might not be a chrono, but it will definitely be Omega 100%.

I've read about moonswatch quality control issues and if this is the case this is totally unacceptable. I've recently bought 2 £9.99 Casio quartz watches which are the cheapest you can get I believe. The missus never wears a watch. I have tried to get her at least faintly interested in some of the watches and brands that I like, but it isn't in her. In September of 2022, we went to Switzerland. I had told her all about the Omega x Swatch, and suddenly, something about the colors, the thematic elements, the appearance, the availability, et cetera had her going a full 180° from helping me to find one to her suddenly wanting one for herself! We got ours whilst in Luzerne and we were (pardon the pun) beyond the moon! She has the Uranus whilst I have the Pluto. I think that the bottom line, whether you're a 'watch nut' or not is that this has expanded the visibility of all Swiss brands, and I say this as now she is interested in possibly owning a ladies Tissot model. Sometimes what some consider kitch is just fun and cool to others. Great video, and while I don't give my 'Swpeedy' wrist time often, I still enjoy it.

I got mine (Mission to the Moon) in Milan, Italy, the very day it launched, one year ago. I agree 100% on everything said, especially on the bracelet, which I swapped for a black-grey nato the week after purchasing the watch. After using it daily I must say it has positively surprised me: no evident scratches on the "glass" and zero marks on the case. One year and $250+mln in Sales Revenues and $180+mln in Gross Margin later there's no doubt it was a huge win for the Swatch Group. I would argue that it was a big win for the watch industry as a whole: lots of young people are now paying attention to something else other than the same old (overpriced) steel Submariner.

It's only a disappointment to those who expect this to be an "entry level" Omega. To me these are fun pop interpretations of the Speedy that are very much Swatches first and foremost. It took about 6 months for availability to become reasonable but I was lucky enough to get the 4 that I want (Sun, Venus, Mars and Uranus). They're on my rotation whenever I'm in T-shirt and jeans. I must say it was a pleasant surprise to get a chance to buy them after reading about the unavailability. Overall, It’s a fun watch to own, enjoy it for what it is, and it’s the watch that my wife joined me in the queue willingly. 🎉

LOL fr a swatch store the business model of selling them is stupid you HAVE to go into store and in the US there are VERY damn few of them ! they should just let the stores sell them online and to be fair make sure each order is shared equally w/ each store so randomly assign that t store to sell it

I am convinced that at least 1% of the MoonSwatch purchasers will aspire to and probably (eventually) go on to buy the real deal from Omega. Now that creates a whole new band of watch brothers for the future. And as long as Swatch keep churning out millions of them they are quids in £££££. I believe it is a win-win for all, even those who just want a bit of colour and unpretentious fun on their wrist.

For context, i live in Chile. After more than a year asking regularly over if they have moonswatches in the Swatch boutiques, and believe it or not, even the Omega boutiques where they actually put us on a list for it, two weeks ago flew to NY and as we walked around with my girlfriend we found a Swatch store in Gran Central Terminal where they had it first come first serve. We waited maybe 10 minutes as they were talking to other costumer, and then, in less than two minutes i bought the Mission to Mars. As someone that has others luxury watches, i love the simplicity and care-free usage that i can give it, which maybe is comparable as using a surf-focused watch. And i love it. Other thing that i found amazing, is that is costed us around $260 usd, and in Chile they are around (equivalently) $400i-sh usd.

I grew up in Florida. Born in 1954 I was a Space Kid. In 1969 my mom and aunt went to Europe. Mom asked me what I would like her to bring back for me. I immediately said, "Omega Speedmaster watch." The day we landed on the moon she bought one in Zurich for $155.00. I wore the watch every day until 1980 when I was issued a Rolex Sea Dweller in military service. Thereafter I always wore the Speedy in July. It turns out the watch Mom bought was incredibly rare and as I am approaching 70 I sold it to arguably the world expert on Speedmasters. Guess what I bought. Three Speedmaster homage watches, two Paganis and the Phylida with the beautiful ST19 Seagull movement. Omega in my opinion, obliterated the magic of their masterpiece. The homage watches honor that masterpiece. Omega turned a Goddess into a cheap streetwalker in every respect and that was no small factor in influencing my decision to sell my watch, albeit at an astronomical profit.

I did pick up a few off of eBay right after the launch. They are fun novelties and colorful. I then went on to one of our favorite Chinese websites and bought some knockoffs that look almost dead on identical with a box for 20 bucks per watch. I think the move by Omega and swatch was a great marketing ploy.

I walked into the Swatch stores in Vienna a couple of times and asked if they have a Mission to the Moon or Mission to Mercury on stock. One day in January 2023 I held the door to the store open for a woman and she went in and asked for a Mission to the Moon. The clerk said "Sure". I thought "damn" and asked, "Do you have another one?" And he said "Sure". I love the watch but put on a black-grey NATO (Bond) strap. The 10th of a second feature on the small hour dial (right) when using the chronograph is cool!

I managed to get my hands on the Pluto via a friend of the family who happened to work in Warsaw for a few months where the hype, apparently, was modest to non-existent - the only additional cost was shipping from Poland. It's a fun piece which I've entered into rotation with some more 'serious' pieces, all with some tongue in cheek. I agree with all that is being said - it's not a great watch by any means, but it is fun! I quite enjoy wearing it, not because of what it is but because of the journey it sent me on. I queued on the day, on several subsequent days, tried on the off chance, missed the delivery at the Geneva airport by about two hours (I really thought that was the surefire way of getting one). It's a fun conversation piece with some of the watch buffs I work with.

It brought me into the hobby. I am one of those "wear a Gshock for 20 years" guys. I love the look of the Speedmaster. I had a Swatch in the 80s in grade school. So I got it on an impulse. I had a lot of the same back and forth you did. The colors are fun, the look of it is fantastic, the feel and quality is super cheap. This is a $70 watch being sold for $300. But... I don't hate it. It made me want to find out what I like, and I'm going on that journey now. There's room for someone to mass produce a line of quartz chronographs with fun colors in anodized aluminum. The plastic just makes the whole thing feel meh.

My beautiful wife got me one for Christmas this year . I have the Mission to Mercury . Without me sounding rude you and several other reviewers go to the effort of making these great videos only to dis what I think is a great , fun ,functional and good looking watch. You chose coloured variants that may look cheap or childish or maybe just fun. I think yourself and others are putting this watch down purely because it has the Omega name on it . Personally i think its a genius marketing idea and great take on the two Iconic brands . Enjoy it or put it away or you can do what the rest have done and sell it! Hopefully at reasonable price to someone who may just appreciate it for what it is .

You bought 2 watches with your wife in Geneva, I bought one (Mission to Uranus) on my own in Istanbul. My wife who has a Cartier Tank I got her for her birthday last year, said she wouldn't be caught dead wearing a plastic toy and warned me I'd regret it.....and I did. Within a week, I had a scratched screen (does not deserve the term "crystal"), and a frayed strap. Within 10 days I had a blue wrist and the top pusher fell off in the street, at least it was a fashionable street. Now, Turkey has consumer protection laws that are so weighed in favour of the consumer, that I didn't have to accept a replacement, which was only on offer because of the blue wrist, they'd have blamed me for the other stuff. Anyway, I got all my money back. I was relieved, my better half was right, it was embarrassing to wear in public and I felt like a grown man wearing a ToysRus $5 toddlers watch. There is no fun to be had from a Moonswatch, just embarrassment and regret. In fact most normal Swatch watches are far better quality than the Moonswatch. I then did something I never did before. (Btw I have an Omega Seamaster.) I really liked the Uranus colour, my reason for buying it to have a nice summer watch. I saw an Instagram ad for a Chinese Pagani Design Uranus homage except it is Stainless Steel, with sapphire crystal, white ceramic bezel, not a plastic sticker, a screw down crown, 100 water resistance, solid link steel bracelet, a Seiko VK63 mecaquartz movement....all for $100 inc. customs. And I love it. I have the colour scheme I want, with superior quality. Everything lines up, has lume that lasts a good few hours and I swam with it in the Mediterranean on holidays. They don't have any other Moonswatch colours as far as I know, but if you want the look without looking like you've been let out of the looney bin for the day, get one of those instead. I've had it a few months now and it's extremely reliable, you cannot beat the Seiko movement. My advice, don't be tempted, the only fun that will be had is Swatch shareholders laughing at you as they count their dividends.

It's one of those things you buy, shaking and smiling excitedly the whole way home, like a young man who just lost his virginity. You wear it for a while but don't want to scratch it, so you put on your second favorite watch and tuck that recycled piece of plastic away in that special place called your underwear drawer, thinking it will have some collector value years from now. Then one day, as you are boxing up stuff you've collected over all those years, you come across your long forgotten but sacred MoonSwatch. You open the box, expecting to have that same excitement and satisfaction you did when you first bought it. You pause, let out a big sigh, then throw it back in the drawer. You shake your head and wonder why you ever wasted that much money buying it in the first place. You then walk away, laughing foolishly and rolling your eyes... like you did that time when your former mother-in-law told you how to raise her grandchildren. Without creating that horrible memory, that is the exact reason I will never purchase one.
