If you replace both front rims you can always use the good rim and tire as your spare so all the rims match even when the spare is on the car . Just a thought. I hope your luck gets better kristie

Nice work! Hopefully your sorted some trade discounts out too. Subaru bumper vents always come out with the smallest bump or hit. Trick is to put a few dabs of urethane on the mounting tabs. Just so long as you don't need to get them out for a while.

As We know also, problems have solutions. and everything happens for a specific reason too. You began with describing the event, occurrence as "bad luck" within the presentation of this issue withthe damage to the Subaru. Then showing the damage to the wheel, tire, broken side mirror assembly, thus certainly the glass fully amaged, fell off, seemingly broken, smashed glass, then the fog light cover pice also knocked out, damaged, while the light itself remained intacts, undamaged. Thus, began attempting to imagine, concieve, devise, figure, what 'falling' or projected 'rock' could, would, have caused this type of damage and specifically too ?! :-o Thus, this extra detail with knowing it occured on a moutain canyon road is important, essential to the possible 'rock'. Certainly the 'rock' had to be projected or encountered with significant force tocause the damage to outer rim of the wheel as seen, which then also damges the tire, cut through the side wall, thus the slit complete puncture, release of the air pressure and complete flat tire. Then addition the projected 'roc' or other object also caused the fog light cover piece to be damaged, forced out, broken. Also, the 'projected rock', or other object also hit the front side of the side mirror assembly, with a force which resulted in cracking, breaking it, along with forcing the glass to be disconnected frmo the assembly, thus, fall, break, or smash. Firstly, before a complete imagined, contrived, devised, figured development with every detail that one projected 'rock' or object caused all of this damage, and specifically with the shown specific detailed damage results, this series of damage to occur in this specific manner, way, with nearly no other damage, perhaps the small indentation on the fender also, without any significant scratches, external damage, is clearly strange, unusual, unique, amazing. Thus, another way to view this event, occurance is the uniqueness, thus actually a special, detailed providence. Thus, certainly it was not 'luck', neither 'good' or 'bad'. but actually a specific, detailed providence that caused, resulted in this set of specific damages, with no other, including no harm to You or others. Also the means to correct the majopr damge, hence the damaged wheel and tire, were all contained within the vehicle with the full size spare wheel and tire, jack [though not the expected more useful sissor type], lug nut tool, along with Your developed abilities. You managed to handle the situation, with all of the difficulties, including night darkness, extremely limited light [perhaps Your phone, maybe emergency flashlight too ?], along with Your emotions, mental aspects to accomplish what was necessary. => Thus, You were able to drive home safely => Then, in addition, You also have the means, abilities, to complete the necessary repairs, replacment of parts, components, along with the given the means for the payment, though having Your limited finances. All given by Your Creator, Almighty. Thus, in reality, these events, occurrances, issues, problems, challenges are as You say opportunities for growth, improvement including mindset, attitude, views, perspectives, perceptions. Such You can begin to "see", view this rare, unusual, strange event with all of its detials as unique, special with providence, meaning, purpose, intents, also from Our Creator, Almighty, thus certainly only for "Good" with every specific, fine, tiny detail, aspect, result. Such, even within commonly called 'Luck', it is actually "Good" too. ! :-) Personally, am still working on imagining, contriving, devising, figuring out, what occured while driving on that moutain canyon road that night, what object or 'rock' was hit, unseen prior, that resutled in the force to damage the rim of th wheel as seen, also slit the tire, then also result in pushing out, damaging the fog light cover, more so to then be projected upward out of the wheel well, without any obvious damage, such the projected object hit the front of the side mirror, craking, breaking it thus disloging, disconnecting the glass mirror such it fell, broke, smashed !! :-o It still baffles me, using the given, shown, described details, using all of my learned, developed knowledge within physics, etc. Perhaps there are a few other important details within the event while diriving on that moutain canyon road that night ? Certainly the driving speed is essential along with other conditions of the road with possible objects, other vehicles, which may have caused the projected 'rock' or other object, etc. ? It is not expecially important for me to comprehend, figure this out, though it is certainly presebts a challenging, interesting problem to solve. The most essential is certainly for You, Kirstie. Oh, by the way, You still present a ver deLIGHTful presence, demeaner, attitude, look which is also clearly evident within Your daughter Miya, which is quite similar with Yours, seen especially at the end of this edited, posted video recording. All The Best, Sincerely "You Rock" -> maybe there is a 'pun', connection, interconnection with this common, 'favorite' expression with the 'fallling rock" too ?! :-o Ha Ha

With metal polish, it has to be rubbed in vigorously and then removed. Waiting until after it is dry it is miserable stuff to remove. I would also recommend an option that does not contain ammonia. Ammonia is acidic to aluminum and really should be avoided ( yes, blue magic contains it ). You should be able to pick up some Zephyr Pro 40 locally once you have burned up the can of blue magic. Where tack rags ( cloth's ) go, they really need to be opened up to breathe for a few minuets before use. The reason for that is otherwise the paraffin's on the tack rag can at times transfer to what your getting ready to paint. Nothing more irritating than fish eyes and such in your paint job that you worked hard to prep for and lay down. I hope that this information helps you out down the road!!

Sorry for the bad luck. That looks like an impact blow to the wheel and tire probably from a pot hole. the damaged wheel may have broken the road and thrown the debris that broke the wheel and what the woman saw.

Seeing the damage to the tire and the wheel, id say you ran over a piece of angle iron that stuck in the tire till all the air left and it flung out into the mirror. a small piece of angle iron would be pretty hard to see on the road at speed as it blends in. Been there done that. Sorry it had to happen to you.

Next time check w/the local junk yard,I`m guessing you have 3 to 4 hundred $ in that mirror,last one I got from the bone yard was $10.00.It was for one of my trucks, OEM no shipping ,yea I had to take it off but then you can keep the nuts bolts screws and look around to see if theres any thing else you need

Kirstie, I don't know if you are aware of this but how you are filming keeps reversing images from left to right. it's confusing to see you driving a right hand instead of a left hand drive car. :) It makes it look like you purchased the incorrect mirror. I have no idea what you ran over but I find it really interesting that it took out the mirror and not the fender or whatever was in the other lane. In regard to seconds, his something for you to ponder if you wish: There are 31,449,600 seconds per year. If you live 50 years, that's 1.5 billion or so seconds in your life. Why is it that fractions of seconds are what makes the difference in life? A fraction of a second determines if you win or lose a drag race at a competitive level. A fraction of a second decides if you're pregnant or not. How about you turn your head and the person that you should spend your life with walks by and you miss them? How about a fraction in a highway accident determines whether you have a smashed fender or get t boned and critical injuries? I can't answer that question. Being in the right place makes things work out. Making decisions that place you in the right place are something that age seems to assist in doing. :) Best wishes on your projects. :)
