@glenngriffon8032 Жыл бұрын
@@30cal23 it's not that bad really. I quite liked seeing the difference in locales. I'm glad they didn't set it in Dunwall. Between the main campaign and the Knife of Dunwall DLCs I kinda got my fill of fantasy steampunk London. The only thing i thought was a bit out there was the Clockwork Mansion but at least that allows you to get in the walls and see some of the mechanisms of it so your suspension of disbelief isn't hanging on a thread. And I liked playing as Emily for a change of pace. Her powers aren't as good as Corvos but it brings something new to the table. The gameplay is changed up so that you have cool non-lethal attacks as opposed to the first game where everything awesome you can do is lethal. Stun mines can be put on just about anything so if you stick one to a bottle and throw it in the street you not only place a mine on the ground but it attracts a guard who immediately gets zapped. There's not a whole lot that's bad. And if you really want Corvo's powers so bad you can play as him and on a new game plus Emily can use his powers too if you want to see her side of the game but play with Corvo's abilities. And once you finish the game twice, have enough runes and whale bone to get all the best powers at the start of the game the whole thing becomes easy to the point of hilarity, like having all the cheats on. And you can always refuse the Outsider's Mark and play without powers.

The tree in the dried lake reminds me of the problems faced with rising saline groundwater. Here in Australia we have very large areas that were once arable soil effectively rendered sterile because the ground water is too salty from the underground water table rising, which leads to forests of bleached out trees and shrubs similar in appearance to the dead tree in that film.

Theory: a vampire was staked in the woods, and the stake somehow grew into a tree that fed off it's blood, drawing the vampiric virus into its tissues. When the tree shed it's leaves each winter, the virus got into the water and was reactivated, and started contaminating the surrounding wildlife with the virus. The whispering is the vampire, whose is buried under the tree, in stasis, but not really dead. Burning down the tree might have pulled enough of the stake out of it's heart to allow the vampire to revive, and that's what bit the second dog.
@hh-bluedynamite Жыл бұрын
Sweet theory. The stake somehow becoming a tree is a tad dubious. Maybe it could be that a nearby sprout absorbed the vamp’s blood (or someone planted a tree above the vampire’s corpse, which ever). I like to think that the vampire is dead-dead, but it’s spirit lingered to watch the chaos unfold.

Infected bats DO actually die from rabiës. The young are most vulnerable, older bats survive by means of hibernation (in combination with a very long incubation period). They can stall the disease long enough to reproduce themselves before expiring.
@teremertz5 күн бұрын
That’s interesting. Oftentimes rabies is not found in the bodies of people who died from the effects of rabies, which means it does eventually clear completely from the system. Humans die because the body cannot withstand the length of time it takes for rabies to run its course, & the damage it wreaks. I wonder if the bats hibernation allows the disease to run its course in a bid to actually survive.

It happened sporadically and there were never any sure indicators pointing to a cause. I got to the point where I was taking anti anxiety meds, but even that wasn’t always effective. You said you woke up after not eating with your heart pounding bc you were deficient of potassium and it totally clicked! That’s exactly what I have been dealing with and I know this bc saltines once ended the episode, but at the time I chalked it up to eating food in general, not the minerals I was getting out of it!!!! Long story short I have pots. I NEED more salt to the point of salt tablets being recommended if i couldn't get it from diet alone. Sometimes your body just knows.

If saltines ended the episode you were short on sodium not potassium, because if you were low on potassium than eating the sodium rich saltines would’ve made your symptoms worse because sodium and potassium are somewhat antagonistic in the body. If you can naturally work the two together in a topical way instead of being definitely segmented, that'd probably help the retention for your videos. HOWEVER, some topics are just so varied..so wild..so complex..or so in depth that you NEED those definite segments, and I am absolutely here for it. I learn a lot from your videos and they have pushed my natural innate curiousity towards microbiology. I also think the dog was listening to the tree whispering. If it's too interesting, I just end up saying up till two hours before I have work, watching for God knows how long. I used to have nightmares almost nightly, zero clue why but after I ran into your channel it all just sorta left.

Im a fan of mixing the science into the summary. I mean, I typically watch the summaries on other channels and come to you for the scientific explanation/theorizing. This explanation was great, by the way-it made a lot of sense

I like the new blend of summary and science, this makes the still images not a problem at all as you're mixing in graphics for the medical explanations

I dont mind the still frames if it helps with the copyright BS. I tend to listen to these more then watch them. As far as the science plot blend, it makes the video feel more like a discussion then a lecture or classroom style scenario, which I think is still fun, though admittedly I think you’re just great at making these things funny and educational. Keep up the great content! 👍🏼

I don't understand why people tune off the science bit. The science bit is literally half the reason why I watch your videos. The other half being the summary + your personal charisma added to it.

If you’re interested, there’s a game series called Plague Tale (Two installments, Innocence and Requiem) and aside from making you bawl your eyes out, it has a blood curse disease called the Macula that might be interesting to check out.
@KincaidCalder-vn6bo Жыл бұрын
Isn’t it ultimately caused by eldrich Beings though? I mean, I haven’t played the game, so don’t take this seriously.
@TheChildofAuraReborn Жыл бұрын
@@KincaidCalder-vn6bo I don’t think it was? But they’re kind of long games so maybe I missed something. It’s kind of more like a bloodline curse, I remember the priest from the first game did a blood transfusion with Hugo so he could get the Macula’s powers. That, and the Macula never presented itself whenever Hugo was relaxed and happy. So it’s also kind of stress-induced.

@14:40 AB+ is the universal recipient. This is because the body has no natural antibodies against the proteins found on blood cells. Also, O - is technically the universal donor for women. Men can take O+ in a crunch because the Rh reaction isn't that bad and they don't have to worry about becoming pregnant in the future like women might.

Super long time watcher and rewatched of videos because I'm a cringe af fanfiction writer and love having the science make sense , I love the style of the vids, movie sum up, science explained, and then ending science explained. Like your vids have helps me even understand my own body more and have things put in a way that this (and honestly cells at work) have helped me actually understand biology a lot better than my old teachers could.

I definitely prefer this, adding in the science during the summary when it applies rather than an info dump of it at the end of the video. It helps me personally attach info to various things as they happen.

I am BEGGING YOU to do a Bloodborne video. I know it's largely supernatural but you can actively trace the progression of the illness through the NPC's in game and I so badly want to hear your take. It seems like lungs are affected first, then it spreads and has at least two separate strains, the Ashen Blood Disease and then the one we see through Central Yharnam. I just, idk it's my absolute favorite game and I would love to your thoughts on how it could work.

I like the science in the breakdown and I like it afterwards. I just like your takes it actually adds to my enjoyment of the movies if they’re ones I’ve seen before and even for movies I never intend to watch it’s just good entertainment because your passion for it all is addictive. Whatever helps with viewer retention go for it, just don’t go down the Wheeler Dealers path. That was a great show ‘til the mechanic quit because they focused more and more on the selling rather than the fixing/building to appeal to more people and went from cool to generic. The science makes your breakdown’s special as opposed to the countless other dudes out there, also the science is a big part of why fair use should be making people piss off and let you do your thing I wish KZbin did more for you man.

I like having the sciency bits seperate from the summary because it gives me a little bit more time to build up my own speculations and then see if they're close to correct but this works well too.

Having witnessed three divorces in my family, my dad having two and my sister having one, I have to reluctantly agree with Louis C.K. that no good marriages end in divorce. So, sure, try to fix it if both people want to, but it's really not the worst thing in the world.

If you know a dog well, you can tell by listening to it what kind of bark it is. Barking because they heard a noise sounds different than barking _at_ something. And the dog really should have been sent to a lab after the kind got sick, to test it more thoroughly for disease.

I liked the format a lot, I usually blow through the recap because I tend to go to your channel after I watch the movie. This movie reminded me a *lot* of the Pine Deep series by Jonathan Maberry. The series centers on a powerful vampire who's corpse is buried in a swamp, he is able to influence the world around him nefariously and infect people who die in the right ways in his domain. Great series, and great author in general, highly recommend both, he does his homework so the science in his science fiction is generally really solid.
