I actively have been shivering at every time I see this spider doing shit that it.... Well, it is inexplicably creepy. But I get it. I love sharks and how docile they can be. The same could be said for spiders. However. This is spiders we are talking about... Too many eyes and legs. Without the taste of crab.

Unlike non jumping spiders.. jumping spiders actually are by far the most intelligent spider.. not even close... they are amoung if not the most intelligent arachnids... they display high awareness of their surroundings AND other awareness of other animals... it was said that they might possess the intelligent of say a 1 year old human... as we know jumping are absolutely extremely curious animals... which makes sense as 1year humans are highly curious aswell... no other spiders actively stare u down and move/turn with ur movements... they don't freeze and hope u ain't notice.. they just keep u in their sight 😆

I like all spiders (I just think they're neat! I did my undergrad research on and am super into creepy crawly critters) But I think the generally more chill vibes toward jumping spiders might, in part, have to do with their fuzziness and their almost catlike behaviors. They kind of act like funny little cats, and even chase laser pointers. That, and they've got a LOT of positive press- Lucas, peacock jumping spider mating dance video edits, the cute little pictures and videos of them with water drops on their heads. There isn't a Lucas equivalent for other medically insignificant spiders like wolf spiders, huntsmen, house spiders, orbweavers... You get the point.

A lot of spiders are surprisingly smart for their size, just in different ways. Some are pretty social, some can be domesticated to some extent and even taught some easy tricks. As an entomologist I was always uninterested in spiders. I mean as far as arachnids go they're pretty much omegas to the gigachads that are the ticks. FUN FACT! Bird-Eater spiders don't eat birds. The artist who illustrated them for the scientific community way back then drew them like that to show their size. Like most spiders they'll eat whatever they think they can catch, which might include a *very* small bird, their usual diet is insects.

Oh and spiders are not insects: they have a closed circulatory system using hemolymph and a "book lung." It makes spiders really hard to fumigate out of a house.

I don't know how much you are interested in Transformers, but I would be curious to see how you would break down the Cybertronians. While they are giant alien robots, they are often described as being made of a living metal with a self-replicating cellular structure and a genetic code, as well as seemingly organs that they can't build themselves. (Admittedly the original show plays more loose with it given the lore was still being created, so there are some cases of them building them there... but that's seemingly become the exception, rather then the norm.)

Yeah I tend to leave my spiders be unless I feel the population is getting out of control or they look dangerous. Sometimes I’ll catch them in jars if they’re somewhere inconvenient and have them hang out next to me while I do my chores in the dead of night while the rest of the family is asleep. They’re my little captive companions. I usually release them the next day in the front yard.

This is extremely petty, but boy do I hate this film for multiple reasons. One, bashing the hard working dad like it's a sport, Heather, the absolute brutal killing of an innocent grieving mother, dissing of other animals (cats specifically, I mean they have even saved people from burning houses by waking up their owners in time), and killing off all other pets EXCEPT the super vulnerable and easily eaten dog. If you're going to kill all other pets, take the dog too or let them all get out somehow. I hate it when films favorite specific pets.

16:29 The discoverer of artificial insulin synthesis made his patent freely available so that insulin could be produced cheaply by anyone. Unfortunately, he did not take into account the greed of corporations that sell insulin at extortionate prices in some countries. Nor did he consider their creativity in inventing new "patents" to protect their insulin monopolies.

Lol just anonymously leak it if you want it free then. It will spread far and wide no matter how hard they try to stop it. Someone could surely steal the idea and patent it but it would be a useless move if it was public knowledge due to leaks.

So you’re telling me , that if some mad lad had a really cool laboratory, with an enclosed environment, could technically experiment on insects, to make them bigger ?
@Bona_Tempora
@Bona_Tempora Ай бұрын
Probably would only be able to make them a small degree larger, otherwise they’d just asphyxiate
@gogeta667
@gogeta667 Ай бұрын
@@Bona_TemporaI mean, you could enclose generations of spiders in higher oxygen rich environments. They wouldn't survive outside the lab, tho.
@retsaMinnavoiG
@retsaMinnavoiG Ай бұрын
@@gogeta667 it's possible that with targeted breeding you might be able to get them beyond what we think is possible. It might be possible for them to develop mutations (or change those genes to some extent) that enhance their ability to survive in less oxygen rich environments. E.g. breed thousands and slowly lower the oxygen, then out of the survivors breed only the largest and keep doing this for generations. Then breed thousands and turn up the oxygen, keep breeding only the largest for many generations. Then mix the two resulting groups together in a high oxygen environment as you slowly lower the oxygen down to regular levels over multiple generations. You might end up with spiders that are significantly larger and pushing the boundaries of their oxygen delivering system.
