These werewolves look similar to the Lycans in Resident Evil 8 who don't exactly take on any massive metamorphosis but do still have wolfish features but are more intelligent than an average werewolf. Perhaps the devs were inspired by the werewolves in howl when designing the Lycans and even the Varcolac.
@imnotmeimabisexualpanda.11222 жыл бұрын
I see where you’re coming from, however, I disagree. I feel that the similarities are just coincidental. From what I’ve seen in resident evil lately, I believe they’re trying to slowly integrate more supernatural forces and anomalies. The fact vampires and werewolves are the antagonist, is an example of this. They did explained it was caused by a disease, however, it still helps people open up to a more supernatural resident evil game. Not to mention, nobody can explain the mold. Some aspects are explainable, but most aren’t. It just appeared one day. It gives supernatural powers, and responds to rituals. Not to mention, this isn’t the first time they tried to make a supernatural RE. RE 4 was originally a game purely about the supernatural. Also, whether you know it or not, SCP level anomalies already exists in RE. RE 4 also introduced the las plagues. It’s literally almost/is alien. Think about it. If it was an SCP entry, it would fit perfectly. It’s an ancient creature of unknown origins that can survive for hundreds, to thousands of years trapped in stone that incorporates you into a hive mind by severing your brain stem and attaching to the it while creating hormones that induce psychosis before attachment is complete. After, it eats your brain and bursts from your skull. It can also cause mutations.

You know, as silly as all of this really seems, I totally dig the practical effects. I think people now just rely way too much on CG VFX when there's any need for something beyond everyday reality. The fact that they used lots of prosthetics, articulating masks, and practical effects for most everything just seems more satisfying. Of course there are bound to be a couple times where the puppeteers (or just the props themselves) are a little less convincing, but I think it's a lot cooler to have those tangible, real effects than trying to pretend it's all there with CG. Maybe it's because I grew up in the 90s, but I just have a preference to practical effects in most cases.

I mean they break down in the film it's a mixotrophic lifeform, mutated from a creature or more likely a while lineage of creatures that ate radiological waste for decades, that folds matter into itself. Very possibly, Goro Maki fed himself to the creature and was eaten carrying something that forced the creature to spontaneously mutate itself to survive. Essentially it's a lifeform that's a massive weaponized Cancer cell that has itself weaponized the radiation that created it and now sustains it.
@sorrenblitz8052 жыл бұрын
Also, defying scientific principals isn't necessarily an impossible feat. It just means we haven't learned what that is yet. This extends to any lifeform. It's a bit of arrogance to assume the rules of life are universal and immutable. Same with physics. Physics here works in a particular way sure, but another planet in another solar system or galaxy? The rules could theoretically be different even if it is more likely that they can't be 100% completely different.

When someone gets hurt or killed, or when they find a body, Joe seems much more in control while everyone else is freaking out. William is willing to fight, but it's the desperate fighting of a cornered animal. He's fighting because he's scared for his own safety. Joe fights to protect others, so the werewolves saw him as a good candidate for a pack leader. Looks like he finally got that promotion after all.

Okay, so I work for a railway company and they would never just force you onto another shift after you just did one, they would only offer you the chance for it, with most likely a cash bonus to your paycheck and a day off, but they legally couldn't force you to do that. Edit: A train would not stop that fast If going at full speed, it would take at least 50-100 meters depending on speed and slope. Edit 2: No fucking way a deer stops a multi-ton train that easily, that deer would have been turned into minced meat.

I really love the distinct use of eye shine with the werewolves of this movie, as well as the practical effects' design like big meaty arms, teeth, cheek bones where the jaw muscles would be strengthened, and the really bulgy eyes which are definitely pronounced in canines compared to us and most primates. They are essentially still human even as the features are made more extreme, they don't come out with dog heads or overly hairy and It really helps the realism angle as they don't look like a natural creature and more like the mutation of a human.
@Burori12 жыл бұрын
Oh hell yeah! I was wondering if you'd cover this one. Saw it around the time I also saw Late Phases, another unique Werewolf premise flick. Different pacing in that one and it's a lot more investigation-y with more character building, but it's a pretty good one if you wanna investigate the werewolf therein, somewhere down the line.

Idea! You know how grasshoppers turn into locusts with a simple pheromone (name of which escapes me). Could some thing similar happen to human? From normal person to just a huper aggressive animalistic form. No body changes (growing claws, fangs, longer hair, shapeshifting and no sudden silver allergy) just flip pheromone switch and Jim is no longer Jim, he is a hyper aggressive animal in the shape of a person. Maybe small changes in redness of Jim's eyes or the amount of drool in his mouth.

Great video mate, I love this film, it is interesting that they give the Wolves a bit of a back story, with the ring, quite a nice touch to let us know that they are not just faceless monsters.

Hey Roanoke, this is gonna be kind of a long comment but here goes. I just wanted to say thank you for uploading these videos, i didn't really know much about dna or bio stuff in general, but once I started watching them i got curious about it all. Why do i look like my sister's twin even though we were born years apart? Why do i have grey eyes when my sister's are blue? You've made me curious again, about the world, and about people too. I used to love learning before my depression turned my world dark, but thanks to you I WANT to learn again, about everything that piques my curiosity. You gave that back to me. Something I didn't think I'd get back. I know i won't get anything out of learning these things, but I've missed the passion I've felt finding out about new things again, and I just wanted to say that I'm grateful to you. For giving me this new desire to have interest in the world around me, when all i had left was shadows. I finally have something that makes me happy again. That means the world roanoke. Thank You. Sincerely, L

This was the most in depth analysis I've seen or read on Howl, one of my favourite werewolf flicks. My theory was the skinnier, beta like werewolves were more newly turned than the bigger alpha ones, who may have been werewolves longer therefore had increased size and strength. This is suggested as when Joe is turned he is more similar in size and look to the smaller betas. Many of the critics that reviewed this movie never took any of this into consideration and just wrote it off but a lot of thought had gone into the werewolf design, even the way they walk in the forrest was done well. Some bits like when they were all in the train wasn't done so well but overall its one of the best werewolf movies to come out in the last decade. Thanks for taking the time to do this.

Honestly not seen the rest of the video but that first appearance at 13:40 could easily be either a werewolf or a vampire. Not all vamps are shown as attractive in fiction, Skulduggery Pleasant is just one prominent example I can think of, with Vampires being described as far more beast-like and primal than their typical movie counterparts.

Since you have done a bunch of transformationpuppies by now I would like to suggest making a video comparing them. Talk about strengths and weaknesses. Which would be better super high spread or more controlled. How much intelligence do they exhibit. Basically which wolf do I want to to be infected by. It would shake things up somewhat.
