You were awake. I thought I could talk you to sleep via the somnolent power of philosophy and politics.
Apologies to Chomsky, Foucault, Bakunin, et al. for mangling their work.

So my dad's a philosophy professor and would tell me thought experiments as a kid to get me to fall asleep but when I got a little older, he started getting night classes and wouldn't be around as much in the evenings. But if I was awake when he got home he'd always come in to check on me, and would just talk until I fell asleep. Granted, it wasn't this exact script, but the scenario is just similar enough to give me goosebumps. Two thumbs up

this is a three year old video but i've grown up incredibly fatherless and i've come back to this video more times than i can count. it's a very big source of comfort for me and i've found myself crying on more than one occasion. it helps to remedy a void that i've been grappling with that is very very hard to come to terms with and forgive. i'm sorry if this is overstepping a bound or makes you uncomfortable but this is incredibly special content and i haven't found anything like it on the internet thus far

This made me cry, mainly because my dad never knew how to be a dad and now that I'm 14 he really doesn't know what to do, and I wish he was around more even though I live with him and he basically fucked with my brain and made me feel like shit since I started living with him.

My dad passed away just before Christmas this year. He was an awful, spiteful, mean spirited man who pretend his 4 children didn't exist. I wish I could've had a dad that would talk to me like this, just once even.

For some reason, the beginning of this video felt like a video will to me -- you were only missing the "if you're watching this, I've passed away" and leaving behind things for your children to inherit. Anyway, great seeing that handsome mug of yours and great to have you back, Sailor! Always relaxing!

Night after night, I have tried to make it through. You are speaking my favorite language - waxing on philosophical and political issues that affect the common person. Your thoughts, your vocabulary, your perspective... brilliant. I never knew for sure who you were speaking to until I woke up and watched the last portion this morning. I suspected I was a small child, but you never know with people artists like you and ER. I could have ended up being a dog, a hostage, an alien or even a disembodied head - lol. Anyhoo, thank you so very much for your work. It means a great deal to me. I would loooooooove to read the transcript sometime, but I get that you're busy and may have even moved on to your next big idea brain-seeds. But, let me know if you're bored and I'll send you my email. My best to you and yours. Stay golden, Ponyboy.

I was adopted and I never had a dad only a mom so seeing videos like this one makes me feel safe and good, I love videos about dad ASMR and big brother ASMR. Thanks for creating videos like this for me and others like me!

Philosphy, Politics and ASMR, my favorite things. I remember watching this right after my father passed away, hoping to find some sort of solace. Nothing could fill that empty part of me, then. But, it was provoking, calming thought. I think that I might've found a little peace, just in your words, just once. I've come back, and realized how much I've healed. Having words eloquent enough that they are easy to recall is something pretty special, man. Remember that.

Phoenician Sailor Well, when I was younger I would have said run from it, as in go live in the woods and hide from society. Now, I feel that escaping and only living for myself is a selfish cop out. Just as I took things (passively and actively, for granted and acutely aware) from society to become where we are now, I feel I should give back to it in a similar fashion, a reciprocal symbiosis of some sort. When Obama infamously said, ". . . if you've been successful, you didn't get there on your own. If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help," he was on to something; I completely agree with him at the most fundamental level. I find it sad that some people don't. So if one has the mind to come to the realization that life is an absurd cacophony of billions of lives coming together in so many ways, some obvious and direct and some abstract and indirect, and that this awareness, although bitter in its confusing and depressing nature, allows one to continue living and striving for something positive despite this conclusion, I find that person to be that much more bad-ass than if he/she hadn't come to the same conclusion. Those who confront it are numerous, but divided, as they all confront life in different and sometimes polar opposite ways. This Kafkaesque fuel only maintains the plight of the human condition and reminds us that we'll never be in harmony as a human race. Even though this may be the case, those who swim against the current may create a new stream altogether for other fish to follow suit, even though the original stream continues strong. But fuck it, in short, yes, I do both, too, heh. **Saunters back into the safety and darkness of his dank crypt whilst surreptitiously stifling his tremulous hand** WHEREAREMYPILLS!!11/one?1/1slash?1

I understand. But I think the idea of a patrion is that it only charges users when you produce the content. So in a way it doesn't put pressure on the creator to abide by a deadline. But I can totally see that if you start seeing it as a commitment the joy will go out of it. All those sets and stuff must have been expensive though!

Will you ever do a part two to, (Let's Play) With Conventions?

majorisaperson I gotta be honest, it will probably be a while. I'm in a transitional period which prevents elaborate setups. The Let's Play video requires a lot of space I don't currently have.

the picture, title and beginning of the video reminded me of Sam Fisher in the Splinter Cell: conviction game :D

Hey whatsup man!!! Great to see the content, I'm well aware you're busy but I have a question, what ever happened to the collaboration with Ephemeral Rift, scheduled for around January? Not trying to be pushy I just really love your collabs (especially of the 2 best ASMRtists). Anyways get back when you can and keep up the great content!

Nate A. life is what happened! I moved, which makes the collab difficult. It may still happen, I have hope.
