I thinks its more of a generational thing. I had a friend that didn't like Nina because she had formed opinions on things, didn't seem very connected with modern topics, and that air of experience and disconnection with some modern trends and topics of the current generation threw my friend off for some reason. I see that Nijisanji locked her in with people younger than her, and some of them treated her as a "mother" figure as she was clearly older than them, and that might have been the reason why. Now as Matara, she can express herself more without fear of consequence or being misunderstood, and that is great to see.

Nina was arguably the glue that held the EN branch together. She was very extroverted and if I’m remembering correctly, helped ease the EN guys into the company when they first joined. It’s a shame that she got hate (it go so bad that there was a whole document for the hate towards her) for being extroverted. I really liked her design and I even prefer it over the roach design. I’m glad that her new fanbase is more accepting to who she is and is more respectful for those that enjoy her content. But that's true. If you look at what the hate was about and if you saw the google doc - it is obvious. Haters literally were socially disabled people, unironic hikkas, unicorns, and fujoshis. They take everything on screen insanely seriously and saw Nina as extremely annoying, obnoxious, intrusive, overstepping, etc. And I'm not saying that in a derogatory way. I'm an introvert too, but I have managed to pull myself out to be a little bit more communicative to make my life objectively better and easier. So, I kinda understand their behavior, and that it is not a healthy degree of introvercy.

Every community does have those really bad weirdos but the vtubing space in general and Niji in particular are up there. Negative things are hardly acknowledged and if they are it's shifted to 'antis' instead of doing some self-reflecting and self-policing as a community. Add to that the general streaming 'problem' where chat and members of chat can gain a certain level orf notoriety and you get a group of massive egos with little to no boundaries.

I feel this so much even in a different surrounding. I was bullied relentlessly in school to the point of having severe ptsd. I ended up graduating 2 years early by testing out of school. On my last day when my mom went in to sign paper work she was asked if she was my mom by other students and told all these nice things about me. Nice things i never once heard in person because at the point associating with me made you a target. Leaving that school and ultimately finding my own way in life as an artist saved me but it was genuinely difficult to get past the idea that people cared about me but not enough to have the guts to stand up for me. That took a long time in therapy to deal with that trauma and it’s still not gone.

Therapy actually can't really help remove trauma. Coming from somebody whose severely traumatized and has done some real bad stuff from the trauma. But those were in the past. Trauma NEVER goes away. It can be managed, but it will not disappear, its not magic. Therapy is helpful only if you need it, especially a therapist who won't judge you or get you locked up for the traumas/actions you took from said traumas, even if its literally in the past and can't be taken back.

Bad management and favoritism aside, I feel like that fandom is also eating away at the current talents if they keep this up
@gaerekxenos5 ай бұрын
I think also a part of how the talents get covered is also an issue. Eg. Hex got clipped with his statement about the community of... what was it...? That 'people won't give you flowers until you are dead'...? Or something along those lines...? Out of context, really sounds like a terrible thing to say. Probably the statement was cut terribly as well with a huge difference between if it were "those people" instead of just "people." So some people (hi, me) got a bit annoyed with the poor phrasing a bit If titles of videos/streams use 'clickbait' titles like calling someone "problematic"... you'll get idiots who decide that is exactly what those people are, without even bothering to look at the content within the video/stream to even see evidence that they probably aren't actually a problem Then just general coverage of the situation where things sway public conception. Sometimes wider coverage is bad since instead of it being just something within a group that can be handled internally, you'll start getting outsiders (like myself) who are not fully aware of the current scenario... but will start judging based on the little information that they are getting of the situation. And sometimes a bit of misinformation or skewed information gets spread because of that as well (hi, it's me, I'm the problem, it's me). Which then spreads further, then gets to specific individuals who are more "act first, think later" who will probably end up causing problems... such as harassment and such. Remember some of the boycott rally calls during the Israel-Palestine conflict(s)? How some people were calling for boycotts of... 'pressure targets'...? Just because they were listed on a graphic...? And how the people who published said graphic had to go back and add "(non-boycott)" to said graphic later...? The issue of a wider audience on the net isn't percentage of individuals who are an issue vs who aren't... it is by number of specific individuals who are acting on one side or the other. If the wider net that join in due to wider spread of coverage are supportive, then it can be a good thing for squashing some of the more vocal negative individuals -- but if it is overall neutral or negative, you might end up pulling in one of the more vocal individuals who will start causing more issues instead. So it is a gamble, particularly when it comes to more delicate situations. There's some drama going on elsewhere for Vtubing between a regular streamer and some Vtubers that is a total mess right now that I don't want to get involved in. In that scenario, the Vtuber dragged in other Vtubers and related groups to try to crush the non-Vtuber streamer. I'm keeping the hell away from that conflict, 'cuz it's a really stupid one where there's misinformation upon misinformation upon misinformation... and all parties involved honestly fked up pretty considerably in several instances. Wider audiences make these things all sorts of messy =_=;;

I didn't got the chance to really be in Nina's community back then, I like her vibes and design. But the roommate I was with back then was really vocal on Niji's enemies. So I often kinda feel more conflicted with her. Not long after i been in, she left and I kinda moved on myself to elsewhere. It's always feel scary for me to be in these big communities since oh nyo too many people is here but I kinda want to wish on her continue success.

I actually lost a friendship that I had for almost 8 years die to a disagreement over Nina 😭 This person was a huge 🔮 fan and at the time the document was going around and I think it speculated that Nina made him uncomfortable because she was being a Fujo or some stupid shit like that its been 2 uears so I apologize for the huge paraphrasing. Anyways; they mentioned that to me and immediately I retort back with "Well we don't know them personally and I think thats a huge generalization to make about a stranger behind an anime girl avatar" and they like flipped out because they thought I was excusing gay fetishizers. Crazy shit. In the end it kinda relieved me to not be their friend anymore as they had always been negative about my Oshi's (Ethyria as a whole) and other more serious/personal stuff.

Thanks for using the whole clip, you could cut it up for whatever reason you want but you always seem to try to keep the full context Khyo and its one of the reason I still watch you, you don't go for the most drama but the most truth. The personal Fancommunitys in the Vtuber industry are so essential. She is right we have the Corpo Fans that love Hololive, VShojo etc but the small Fandoms of the individual Talents are what really make all of this so interesting for me. They basicly form their own little cultures within their oshi´s sphere and come together during greater events. It is so defining and normal to vtubing to me that not being able to grow your own community really sounds horrible for me.

Honestly running Matara out of niji was probably one of the worst things to happen to them as it opened the floodgates for everyone else to leave after they saw how she flourished afterwards so glad she is doing so well now and that others are getting out and finding happiness also

I'm glad she got out (and Kuro) and I hope more vtubers follow, as hard of a choice as that is. The nijisanji fandoms have lots of good people but so many loud toxic fans that act so inappropriately. It's awful that it sound like the company was/is limiting them from policing their own communities properly and shutting those people down.

I was there as a Dragoon and "fans" even spread baseless rumors about her among themselves. That (afair) after she got her followers by her early collabs on her channel (mostly with the boys), she outright rejected these very same collab partners when they wanted her to pay them back a visit with another collab on their channel. I don't buy anything I don't know, but unfortunately many fell for that and started to want her out of the circle to see her get punished for it. After a while of suffering she came back from that isolation with tears, apologies and promises to be better. Well it didn't last long and graduation came. Now I know for sure what she apologized for, it's just sad. Just as ones trying to do that to her. Never feel bad for that sh*thole. They don't deserve it.

I will say one thing, if she saw it on that app, there are a *_LOOOOOT_* (however many you're thinking, it's more) of vtuber hateers, even if you check Ironmouse or Shylily's accounts (the vids that actually make it to for you pages anyway) it's just a _solid wall_ of hate comments, and they will say _anything_ to insult the person behind the model, regardless of the truth of the statement or not, they probably learned that it was a vtuber cosplay and just went off. Guarantee a solid chunk of them were Niji "fans," guarantee, but I'm equally certain that the vast majority weren't cuz the people there aren't just toxic, they're outright caustic.

Sucks that someone (in this case Matara) has to leave something due to toxic fans or should I say fake fans. The sucky part is that this type of thing plagues the whole of humanity and not just one group which in this case the Kurosanji fans. Heck, a band was bullied into canceling by fans because the group was *check notes* something called hair metal/glam rock or at least perceived to be one. I need to track down that Professor of Rock video again and watch it fully even though I have no interest in the band nor the song that was featured. I have a bad habit of reading the comments since sometimes it could spoil the video (though sometimes that's a good thing if it's a summary to a long video that could be shortened to like 5 or less minutes) and one of the comments said if I remember right or at least to paraphrase "it sucks that they had to stop due to die hard metal fans bullying them". The music scene along with pro wrestling are other examples of having toxic fans ruining things especially the ones who thinks it's okay to throw objects at band members especially ones that can cause damage such as glass bottles or rush the stage without permission or who thinks it's okay to grope someone.

Mainly the reason people didn't like her was because of the "Male shipping and harem" drama with the male vtubers who came out to say that "she made them uncomfortable." But that was back when she was Nina. Now shes Mata. And its now clear that she didnt deserve all that hate.
@salt36855 ай бұрын
Not to say I don’t believe you, but which male v-tubers specifically are you referring to that actually came out and said that? And do you have the clip of it? Because I’ve heard this claim before too, but only through third parties (usually antis) and have yet to see any actual proof or clip of a member agreeing to the claim themself.

@salt3685 OK, so I looked back and there were a few things. 1, Nina, Vox, and Mysta at the time did the pocky challenge and Nina wanted Vox and Mysta to do it together which caused Vox to express his uncomfort (which was later talked about with the three). 2. The harem situation with Uki, where Nina pestered kyo on a minecraft stream where kyo said he was uncomfortable with Nina talking about it since his "like a brother" was in the harem.

The hate that Nina got was crazy, and it was mainly because she apparently “made other livers uncomfortable” even though as far as I’m concerned, several of them said themselves that she didn’t make them uncomfortable. I’m glad she got out of that company and removed herself from that toxic environment, she was one of my favorites.

She basically just went into more detail then she did during her graduation stream, she told us that she felt like she never did enough for her community/fans and she didn't deserve what she had because of it when in reality she she felt like she couldn't do more for them because she saw how they were being treated simply for like her for who she is and she wanted to protect them like a good mom would.
