I know everyone got their own past trauma , but using past trauma as an excuse is getting old and meaningless because, usually, they don't mean it and only use it as a shield or to gather sympathy. Don't miss understanding. I'm not saying their past trauma is fake or anything.
@HyattHyatt31793 ай бұрын
Real or not this isn't even trauma correlated. It's not "I was rude to xyz vtuber because I was about to have a panic attack or intermittent explosive disorder" or any crap like that. It was deciding to be toxic and rude for no reason to a small streamer. She didn't even do it by mistake because she got nervous or tired and defaulted to bad jokes, she admitted herself in the clip that she wanted to go annoy him. Blaming trauma is 1. Never actually an excuse just a reason. 2. Only a reason when it's actually connected to your trauma and at least kind of makes sense. You can't go "I got robbed at a circus, so now I'm racist online" like it makes no sense. As for this specific example, bringing up past trauma or having had racist remarks directed at them isn't really relevant information. Simply saying "Sorry I'm not fluent in English and didn't realize how bad of a word it was." Would be way better, as now it sounds like they want people to feel sorry for them because they can relate to this horrible thing. It comes off a bit more like wanting to save face rather than genuinely feeling sorry. Obviously she shouldn't get harassed either. She got called out, faced the consequences, so now all we can really do is hope she learns from it, and gets better from whatever reason she was in the Hospital for.

It's not particularly prompted in the first place. The reasons used in the so called apology don't really make much sense even if they were the reality... 'I was nervous'...? Yeah, I don't think that's a good reason at all. Unfortunately it's pretty common in the small-medium, and medium-big indie spheres. A lot of medium indie vtubers try to make it seem like they support all the small creators, but it's mostly done as a way to look better, and at the same time they view themselves as being in the big leagues which causes crap like this. I watch a few indies, but as soon as they start with certain patterns "adopt" or cozy up to much smaller streamers, and start talking about cons and meeting big streamers as if they're close friends, without the bigger vtuber mentioning them, then I usually take a few steps back. You can also sort of discover this behavior by looking at how much and the type of twitter content they post, and how they interact with their chat. You'll also notice a difference between how many people act like this who have been into vtubing for a long time, and who got into it after 2021.

Hi! I finally have the strength to look into these videos that have been sent to me for days. First things first: I love the video and you seem like an amazing person. I hate that I have to find a cool youtuber like you, through this type of stuff. I can confirm that I have not received any sort of apology from nether of them, and was actually blocked by her immediately everywhere after Spooks tweet and those blocks have stayed. I can also confirm that the co-streamer did say as a "joke" that I am a dangerous individual for reporting their stream for "something they did not do" and that I "should get shot", to which she answered "probably" with laughter followed by more insults. I am actually sad to see all these Twitter posts by her, as I have been avoiding everything connected to her like a plague to not undermine the insane amount of happiness that the support I have received has caused me. I am even a little in shock to see again how disgustingly she is still talking about me and trying to twist everything, as I have literally everything from her name to nicknames blocked by automods, and have been very strict about people talking bad about her in my streams. I have to admit, all the empathy I had for her and her co-streamers situation is gone after seeing just this one video. Disgusting.

“Nothing I hate more than bullying” Proceeds to call the guy white/privileged (apparently those can be used interchangeably now) with small pp. “Now I am the one being harassed” The victim mentality is strong with this one.

"I don't want me being sick and my past trauma to be a excuse" While using that as a excuse or way to deflect some of the criticism. Also love the sly little "i'm African so i can't be racist" as for the bub person, they knew what they were doing also if these clips that showed more "context" were around that proved they are "innocent" they would have shown them. also can't really use the excuse of deleted/hidden vods because anyone can go download hidden vods if you know where to look or take 2 seconds to google.

The mocking is 100% deserved. It's the social consequences of their actions, plain and simple. When you talk shit about people unwarranted or otherwise get caught being a shitty person, fully expect others to openly make fun of you.

It's clear that a lot of people in the streaming/content creation sphere don't understand that having an audience comes with additional responsibilities. If you pull up somebody's stream and mock/harass them while you are live yourself, you don't get to then turn around and be like "I didn't send my audience over to their stream to harass them", because you most certainly did. They're watching you and what you are doing, so if you're doing something in someone else's chat then chances are they're going to go over to their chat as well, and if you're mocking someone then your viewers are going to join in and echo you. Also, as others have pointed out: "I'm sorry that other people were offended" comes with the additional meaning of "I'm not sorry for what I did". Now there are times when that sort of apology is appropriate. Usually when you did/said something that was important or necessary but had unfortunate consequences. But that doesn't apply to situations like this. This was just a poor attempt at trying to save face without admitting to any wrongdoing. She's not sorry. She's just sorry that she got caught.

Honestly I feel like they apologized/ran because they were caught rather than feeling bad due to the fact that both were blaming the guy for them getting banned when it was their own faults.

Sometimes it isn't what you say, its how you say it and the context around it. Its fine to say someone is white, black, Asian, Mexican, that isn't inherently racist. Using it in a negative way like saying "of course he is a white man" or "He looks very privileged" is clear cut, NOTHING can explain that away. The "english isn't my first language" or "I didn't know" does not saves you from you fully well knowing you are using a word in bad context even if the word by itself isn't racist. The intent was clearly to degrade and mock, the context is abundantly provided and that is not explained away by "I didn't know". Also "past trauma" should NEVER be in any sort of apology, ever. You did something to negatively impact someone, your past trauma didn't do it you did. I have past trauma, does that mean I get to treat everyone with a certain skin color the same way negatively? No because that is called racism and I can understand there is terrible people of all shapes, sizes, colors, and gender. I blame the people who did it to me, not the group.

Most preference my version is punishment like bans not punching but yea . I think mike Tyson said it best “Social media made y'all way too comfortable with disrespecting people and not getting punched in the face for it” . Anntan’s apology seems decent but bubs well it’s a shame whining on Twitter can reduce bans from 7 days to 2 . Twitch truly is spineless and I hope they girls learned their lesson well I doubt it but we can hope ig.

It's been this way almost always in the indie space. People attempting to harass or cancel other VTubers for clout so they can get slightly bigger. You could see it very visibly even as far back as the vtweeter drama Calli was involved with early in her hololive career but it's been a weird crab bucket situation for a while now. Theres a few other dramas this channel even covered that show other examples but the summary is that vtuber scene in the west has unfortunately never been sunshine and hugs outside of the bigger talents (where most viewers will be).

Based on the clip shown... it wasn't the streamer themself who made the worst comments; however, the person still has some responsibility for moderating what is said on stream as well as the general actions done of bringing up the other streamer's stream. A suspension was honestly fair game, though the duration is debatable (whether it was long enough or too short). Can't say I'm a fan of anyone involved

(KZbin is automodding the word "r*cism" out of existence on this thread. Kind of insane that you can't even have an academic discussion about a serious topic on KZbin anymore...) 12:17 I don't know if playing the r*ce card after you've done something r*cist is the best strategy, haha. But, sure, their broader point is well-taken: you can do something r*cist without BEING a habitual r*cist, just like you can make a sexist remark in passing but not be defined as a sexist. That said...nobody just makes r*cist remarks without having it inside of them, lurking, somewhere in the pit of their soul. The truth is somewhere in the middle -- the individual making the remark isn't just a purehearted person who momentarily succumbed, nor are they irredeemable monsters. But it's also too facile to just fob it off by saying or implying "everyone does this". That's factually wrong -- NOT everyone makes r*cist remarks -- and dismissing it so cavalierly also serves to normalize it. In fact, you see that with the comments that Bub made to varying degrees when they were in damage-control mode. They essentially said permutations of "this is normal", in one sense or another. And it's not. That's the genuinely sad part. Generally speaking, when someone entertains r*cist views, it's because the people around them think that it's normal. They genuinely don't think there's anything wrong with it. You can see that VERY clearly in the way that Bub reacted to it, saying things like, "This is harmless and some people are just sensitive" -- which is a common trope that gets trotted out by people who engage in anti-White r*cism. I think Bub is an actual r*cist in the classical sense. She was probably raised to think a certain way and never questioned it. She was probably surrounded by people that thought a certain way during her formative years, and natural groupthink did the rest. This might even be the first time in her life that she's even being exposed to the thought that maybe this is bad, which seems likely, given her denialism. She's just profoundly lacking in self-awareness. Hopefully, she wises up and figures her stuff out because the Internet is a large, diverse place, and you won't really survive there longterm if you're antagonizing an entire race of people, lol.

I'm going to use a phrase that a English teacher of mine use to say to us a long time ago. "If you're a public speaker, be it news anchor, politician or even in social media you must be careful with what you say. The wrong comment or action can destroy your reputation to the point of no return." He used to say this in context of grammar but I would like to think he also meant for situations like this. Anger makes you blind and deaf to the trash that spews from your mouth but that should not be an excuse and we, as adults, should control ourselves a little better.

@spencer67363 ай бұрын
I had an argument with someone about this before. She claimed that she can't be racist to white people because they haven't been oppressed and racism has always been about black people being oppressed by white people. It's unfortunate that you get those types of people because they're actually doing more harm than good to the cause of equality, tho it always struck me as they never really cared about equality and instead just want to flip the sides so they're the ones punching down instead.

Bub now "apologized", but I'll be honest, I'm not eating any of their shitty apology as they tried to deflect some of the blame away from them with trauma, saying it only made them human, they were stressed and things like that, but I also won't eat their apology cuz, even though they may say otherwise, they only apologized cuz they were caught. And the fact they claimed themselves as the righteous ones at beginning of this only proves this to me, bc it's not like they were ignorant about their wrong at the beginning, it's just that it didn't have that much traction nor that many ppl holding them accountable for what they did, so it was easier for them to try to lie themselves out of this, but guess what, it got traction, in fact, much more than they could ever get, probably, and at that moment, they had to take an action, bc now they had ppl holding them accountable for what they did, so of course, they had to come out with an apology to try to get themselves out of this mess they put themselves into
