The “Nth room” sexual abuse scandal, the latest in a series of digital sex crime cases over the years, has left the entire nation in shock.
In a number of Telegram chat rooms, the victims, including underage girls, were allegedly forced to perform gruesome, torturous sex acts, such as carving the word ‘slave’ into their skin. Some were raped on camera.
And to watch them suffer, some 260,000 people paid up to 1,200 dollars each to join the chat rooms.

The Korean legal system is notorious for this. They’ve always been unfair to women and these types of cases. I remember a case where a wife was physically beat by her husband and he sexually abused his children (to the point they had to have surgery done) and the court still only gave him a couple years in prison. This was maybe 10 years ago nothing has changed.

@seurn7801
@seurn7801 4 жыл бұрын
I rather not use the term genius when describing monsters like him, even though you mentioned that he is only in a horrible way but that will just feed their egos & romanticize once again, this type of crime. Same as when serial killers are given "cool" names. What he did is sick, disturbing, and inhumane. He should never be called smart, let alone "genius". I am just sick and tired of people thinking stuff like this is cool just because the criminal was detailed while doing their crime, that they were smart enough not to get caught early or any of that shit. He's mentally sick and I don't think he deserves to be called a genius. I hope you get my point.
@YogurtwithBerries
@YogurtwithBerries 3 жыл бұрын
@@seurn7801 I know this is an old comment, but I felt inclined to respond. I totally understand the disgust that comes from people describing sickening criminals with "positive" adjectives, but only people with warped mindsets will romanticize and even worship real criminals and their crimes, no matter how we describe them. And I don't think calling them intelligent necessarily romanticizes them either. In fact, I think acknowledging their characteristics breaks down stereotypes of what a lot of people think criminals, specifically sexual predators and sex traffickers, ought to be: dumb, ugly, creepy, fat, shady, etc. More people have to realize those sex offenders could be anyone, and that people can be monsters and monsters can be smart. They could be "geniuses", professors, teachers, people in authority, presidents, CEOs, and that one smart kid in your class. In this case, Jo Ju-bin, aka Baksa, was a model university student with a 4.0 CGPA, volunteered at an orphanage, and took part in anti-violation campaigns. It is super uncomfortable for me to see a cybersex trafficker and a sexual predator in that way, but I feel that society as a whole has to accept these seemingly conflicting characteristics so that they could stop unfairly favoring offenders with such status and actually support the survivors better. Criminals who are really smart are the most dangerous because they are conniving and they will do what they can to get away with their crimes. And to refuse to see and accept the kind of monster that they are is to underestimate what they could do.
@Clytia
@Clytia 3 жыл бұрын
@@YogurtwithBerries Agreed with your comment. "Genius" by itself as a word simply refers to a remarkable level of intelligence. There is no positive or negative connotation associated with it. It is people themselves who slapped a label on the word and connected it as something "good". In reality, even in fictions, "evil geniuses" tropes are very common e.g. Moriarty in Sherlock Holmes, Yagami Light in Death Note etc. This piece of trash is clearly very intelligent and it is true that it has been such a pity that he used his gifts on the wrong things. Yet, as you said, it is a testament that the most depraved can sometimes be the people with the best careers, statuses and reputation. That's what make them so dangerous because they can masquerade skillfully as anyone's charismatic classmate/coworker/doctor/banker/neighbor/etc. and nobody would even suspect them.

I appreciate that the victims are given new identities to start over from the whole incident. I don’t think I’ve ever heard any sexual assault crimes come to such a resolution for victims but I really hope they get psychological therapy treatment too for what they’ve been through. It must be mentally stressful and traumatising too and it may still affect their lives with what they know only, despite having a new identity. New identity doesn’t mean changed or deleted memories from it all.

Are we just going to ignore the fact that there were some *celebrities* in these chats? Time to stop viewing these famous people as your idols, guys. You don't know what kinds of dark secrets they have hiding. I'm glad this got (at least) solved in the end. Thank the Lord.
@imthecoolest50
@imthecoolest50 Жыл бұрын
It’s not solved, there are 200K+ men actively buying and consuming the gruesome content that the group chat provides. That’s more than the number of taxi drivers in the whole of Korea. It’s impossible to catch them all. The fact that Korea is so misogynistic and anti-feminist doesn’t make any of this easier, evil men protected, women’s voices suppressed. It’s gonna stay like this until the end of the world. I can only HOPE that Hell is REAL.

Korea are praised for their top health system, fast internet & mobile technology, music, entertainment etc... but when it comes to cyber bullying, sexual abuse against women...their laws & punishment is so terrible!!! Govt really need to step up, put harsher laws and harsher punishment in place so these perpetrators don't get off so easily. All the "good" that Korea is known for is shadowed by this dark and evil acts against women. Please do something about your laws. It's shameful & it doesnt help Korea's image. (Love Korea, but this has to change). 😤😔

In Korea, men judge the incident as "something they may go through because they are prostitutes," and most men agree with this opinion. He is also angry about the boy idol fan fiction, but he is still on the sidelines about DeepFake, which sexually synthesizes girl idols. As a woman living in Korea, I feel that women's human rights are very low in Korea.

Watch the Korean Movie”Hope”. A two hour movie based on a heartbreaking true story of A 8 year old girl who was raped and heavily beaten by a 57 year old man, but the devil himself only got 12 years in prison. The victims family have moved many times, but The wife of the disgusting 57 year old man have been following them and reported to live 500 meters from the victims family. The devil himself have just been released earlier this year.
