Just hearing his voice makes my heart break, and I've only watched 33 seconds. After 5 years the fish is family. He tried so hard to save him. When my roommate forgot to feed my fish while I was in hospital the other fish in the tank turned on the smallest Sage and ate her fins. I found her at the bottom almost unable to swim. I put her in a clear cup with holes like he did his fish, then put slime coat in every day. Lots of tears, prayers and lost sleep but she pulled through. Got teased a bit by the guy who forgot to feed them. Told "She's only a fish. Flush her and move on" They are not just fish. They have personalities. They get moody. They show affection. Tiny goldfish think they are mighty Orcas. I don't even want to think of loosing my 4 fish friends. So, so sorry you lost your buddy.

I'm so sorry for your loss... I completely understand where your coming from.. I had a Rottweiler.. I know it's not a fish, but getting back into the hobby now.. He was 14 years old, playing with all my kid's, including my newest son.. And was the best friend that I always wanted.. Unfortunately it was his time, and he passed.. But I have to say, with all of the following, and friends and family, that have probably watched this.. Know exactly where your coming from... I was happy to see you gave him a proper burial, and thank you for that.. You have no idea, to us pet owners, how much that means to us.. And to do it live.. Was a great introduction to many pet owners out there, please do the favor and treat all your pet's, like they are truly family.. Because they are!!! Again, so sorry... Keeping my fingers crossed, that your doing well now, and to keep on fishing...

I know how it feels. I almost stopped fish keeping in the past due to problems like this. But, I like my fish too much. I like the hobby too much. I have a catfish named Scar. Scar recently got over what I assume what a swim bladder injury. When I found him at the bottom of my tank, I was devastated. He was laying there with his eyes clouded over. I thought for sure that he was dead. It took him 13 days of swimming upside down and twirling to recover. Freak accidents happen when you keep fish. Some of them you can fix...and some of them you can't. Scar was lucky to have survived. In his disorientation, he had scraped large amounts of tissue off of his fins and back. I hope you don't feel like this was your fault. These things happen (You have been doing this for a long time and you know that). I believe that you did everything you could have done for Buddy. You were there for buddy during his last few days. RIP Buddy.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Watching this really took me back to when we had to let our dogs go. The first got really sick very suddenly and when my parents got to the vet there was nothing they could do but you know “put him to rest”. I was very small and it was a shock to just loose him like that. The dog after that got some health problems that got really bad after a few years. We tried basically everything and had tried for years until we came to the point where we had to make the choice to get him another operation that would help him but only for a while, then it would come back again, or to put him to rest too. I don’t regret anything. We couldn’t let him suffer anymore, and I was with him the whole time while he past. Watching your pets being sick or injured and not being able to help them anymore is absolutely horrible, no matter if it’s a dog or a fish, they are family. I didn’t know Buddy, I got here today but when he was buried I cried and one can really see how much you cared for him. Rest in peace Buddy, you will be missed ❤️❤️

So i found your youtube channel just scrolling across late at night and my gosh my heart dropped.. i had 4 glow fish (they arent expected to live long due to being walmart fish) i tried to give them a better life and make them feel better and when one died it broke my heart. Hey I totally feel for you. I have had 20+ fish ever since we moved to our new house. And 2 dogs who one has passed away only a few years ago. About 5 fish had passed since and now that I have just turned 11 years old now, I really understand what it is you are going through. I can realte so much because ever since we got our first fish, I have always named them and it isn't something to be ashamed of, really. I live in a neighborhood who has a lot of pets just like me and my family. We've recently lost a very nice and old shiba named Mishka and a very affectionate and sweet cat that one of our neighbors owned. Stumbled across your channel by accident tonight. I’m sorry for your loss. As others have said, I don’t think non fish keepers understand the bond. I only have 2 gold fish tanks (1 fish in total), nothing exotic. The youngest fish I about 5yo the oldest two fish are 10 years old. They swim to the corner of the tank when I get up in the morning and some swim through my fingers while working in the tank. I really hate it when we lose one and I feel sad, luckily we haven’t lost a fish in the last 4 years. Keep up the great work. I’ll look forward to working my way through your back catalogue.

Sorry to see you lose a "buddy" like that. I actually lost my Arrowana in a similar way, he just inexplicably jumped up smashing the aquarium cover. 48 hours later he died... Not much different from how your "buddy" died. What people don't realize is that it takes years for an Arrowana to grow to that size, and over the years, we bond with him... As we feed him, as he "communicates" with us by following us with his eyes... Swimming towards us when we beckon... Sincerely sorry for ur loss.. I know this is 2 years ago, but a loss is a loss...

that guy fish do feel pain but not nearly as much as humans as they have less pain receptors. Dolphins actually use this to there advantage when hunting for tuna. They make the tuna go so fast it hurts it self, and then they have an easy catch.

Point50Paul even small fish have personalities, my dwarf gourami gets so excited when he sees me and I know it's not just about food either. I can feed him walk by and he'll follow me as I walk. If I put my finger in the tank he'll rub himself up against me. I just think people underestimate a fish's intelligence.

JulieNicole24 That's so cute! My guppies do the same thing, they're like quarter sized puppies. Any time I stick my hand into the tank they're trying to swim into it. Makes it kinda hard to clean the tank with a gravel cleaner, but man fish are smarter than they look and are each unique no matter the size or species.

I’m coming back here so I can cry with him. My favorite Corydoras Catfish makes Nugget just passed away. He had a lot of fungus and I moved him into my quarantine tank. By the first day I noticed he was acting weird. The second day he was unresponsive. I’m still crying because he was the only different one (a sterbi. I took pity because he was the only one in his tank.) living with my three false Julii’s. I was against the idea of doing saltwater dips as Corydora’s are very sensitive to salt water. I got the most expensive and nice medication I could, it still didn’t help. I have a feeling he developed this due to when I got him his tail was split in half, and when I first noticed any discoloration I had assumed that it was just a normal sterbi thing, I know better now. I feel so guilty and upset, but i makes me feel better knowing others feel the same way as I can. I know he was just a small Corydoras but I loved him.

I've been sharing this incident with him for the last few days. We were on a road trip and had to stop for the baby so I checked KZbin to find this. I commented on the last video also didn’t realize that this video was posted 5 years ago. I am sorry for your loss you had him for so long and you knew him. For those who are being ridiculous and trying to down this man with “oh it’s just a fish” yes he is just a fish but a fish with meaning in this man’s life. His family pet. Like a dog or cat or bird or wherever other animals people keep as pets. I feel his pain. At least his fish was big enough to be able to provide a proper burial all of mine that passed got eaten by snails before I had the chance to remove em. But look at it this way, he was close to buddy like the average person is to their pets so it’s understandable that he gets emotional over this “just a fish” so have more respect please cause if you look at it that way then you should look at your own pet the same way.

It doesn't matter if it was an ant or cockroach if I had spend so much years with it and have learned to love it and have had great laugh and smiles with it, it would've hurt if it died. Hey man, I know in life there are tough times like this... Last year my pet bird I loved with all my heart died who grew up with me for the past 11 years. I'm 18 now and it hurts yes. Some people don't understand that connection we have for our beloved pets and state them as just animals. We buried her aswell just as you will, just think of your buddy as someone who will forever be with you, may not be in the physical but spiritually. God bless! :)
