Hello, I thought I'd try something a little different for fun, but will be back with some more regular content soon! I was inspired to start experimenting with this stuff after I stumbled across this channel: kzbin.info Ben does really interesting and impressive projects like creating an 8-bit computer, so I highly recommend taking a look. If you know of any other cool channels for this stuff, please share them with me!

you should do a follow up of this and try and create an emulator (by reverse engineering the exported code, not the raw code, so its a PROPER emulator and not just a renderer for the code). if you want to that is :P

The video was great! And I hope you will consider making more of this kind of content as I enjoyed it very much. I would recomend to use an Arduino Nano or Pro Mini if you have problems with finding space as it is much smaller. I would recomend this channel: m.kzbin.info/door/mkP178NasnhR3TWQyyP4Gw

I have not made a game in a very long time, but it is an interesting experience, to say the least. In some ways, it is great. In other ways, it is not satisfying at all. Like, it can be great to marvel at seeing everything in motion, doing exactly what it was supposed to do. But you can never really find yourself immersed in it the way you can as a normal gamer. You know what, where, and why everything is the way it is, and there is no "magic" in it. Instead, you just wind up thinking of ways you might change or add to it. Worse, the effect bleeds over into other games. You begin focusing more on the potential what, where, how and why (imagining behind the scenes stuff), how you might do things differently, and so on, than you do falling into your own actual gameplay experience. So, it can be a bit of a mixed bag.
@Katt1n3 жыл бұрын
As a game programmer, all I see are the bugs I need to fix and the stuff I need to add. It is a 1000 times more rewarding to see others playing your game than playing it yourself imo.

Be careful with over/undervolting your board, I saw no resistors ever used, and that's usually suspicious

I don't think that any of the components in the final version require resistors as they operate at the Arduinos voltage themselves, the screens and joystick are shown on the Arduino website wired as done in the video.

6:14 "I wasn't sure where to put the Arduino" You can actually remove the Atmega from the Arduino and use it on it's own to save space.
@alexrawson84925 жыл бұрын
Well, there's more to an Arduino than an Atmega, some parts would have to be rebuilt and with the breadboards would have taken more space than just an Arduino.
@thetastefultoastie60775 жыл бұрын
@@alexrawson8492 You only need a regulator, a crystal and a few caps and resistors. Use the Uno for programming so you don't need an FTDI on-board. and yes, obviously don't use a breadboard because that defeats the point of trying to save space.
