I worked as a gamemaster a few years ago, and once had a group who was getting gradually angrier as they went on. When they were at like the 58 minute mark, one of the guys started demanding that I just tell him the answer to the lock they were trying to open, and when I said I wasn't allowed to do that, he hit the emergency unlock, stormed out of the room, and tried to get into the gamemaster room, threatening to physically attack me. We locked the door to the room when we saw where he was going and called the police, but for a couple of minutes he seemed to be trying to knock the door down and was just screaming threats. The other people in his group came out and managed to calm him down like a minute before the police got there; he still got arrested for the clear attempt to attack me though.

Funny thing is I've done this escape room in real life (it's in LA). And the choice was EXTREMELY fitting. It was the most incomprehensible, poorly-designed escape room experience ever - well before Alpharad came in and equipped it with his own clues. EDIT: I watched the video, and just realized that they left the original clues in, and layered Alpharad's red herrings on top.
@papercraftcynder54302 жыл бұрын
Oh wow. I had an experience with a similar badly designed escape room where we got through half of it then failed the second half because the clues were littered with red herrings (made to look like they were connected when they weren't). I told the guy that wasn't genuine difficulty and he just shrugged and said "that's why it's difficult." Probably didn't help that I had experience with an actual good escape room where the most difficult puzzle was fun to solve because it required us to take something that hindered us at the start and use it to our advantage.

I essentially made something like this in minecraft back in March. An impossible-to-escape maze that was filled with “clues” that do nothing, but make you *believe* they might be useful. Pushing certain buttons would result in the sound of a piston activating. But in reality, the piston is attached to nothing. There isn’t even anything in the maze that can kill you. The only way out it to use the /respawn command, meaning that the more prideful/stubborn you are, the more time you’ll waste. The only way to get out is to essentially concede defeat and admit to yourself that you’re not smart enough to solve the maze.

Hear me out: run it back, get Team B and "reward" them for their sportsmanship or whatever on another escape room by making them the group that's in the know. Make in unsolvable and all that again, but then tell new group B how to solve it sooner, and watch the original group B fall apart as you claim it was solvable the whole time.
