What I would suggest to get passed the copywrites: 1. Flip the video so it is a mirror image 2. Mute the music (when it comes to Star Wars the one thing that seems to stop man reacter is the music) or st the very least change the audio pitch 3. If you put a watermark or logo on the video it will often stop the droid army from recognizing the video.

He also always said that it's not that he doesn't want to play him and he just wants Han to die, he always said he wanted Han to die but only if it would give a bigger impact on other characters, it would have meaning. Spoiler But we have to acknowledge that death of Han was not written because Harrison asked for it. It was definitely said that they kill off one character from original trio per film. That's why they killed Luke and Leia next, and as they said TFA is Han's film, TLJ Luke's and 9 was supposed to be Leia's in which they would probably just kill her off as well

Leia hugs Rey. Mary: How do they know each other? Do they? Nope. The filmmakers just want you to focus on the main character, kind of forgetting continuity. Did you notice how Leia just walked past Chewy, who is the one she should be hugging?
@techno639

JJ actually addressed this mistake, he himself admitted he would go back and fix this accident. He wanted to make it so that Chewie was focused on Finn being okay as he was getting driven away by the medical crew that he didn't notice Leia. However the way they shot it made it so that Chewie was far behind them and Leia was right there which was weird. Maybe they'll fix this in an upcoming special edition lol

Actually I believe that the child stealing and training is from the Star Wars EU. I recall reading in a book on the various Star Wars characters and species that Stormtroopers were forced into military service at a very young age and mentally conditioned to be absolutely ruthless. Which is why they had no trouble doing things like massacring jawas and murdering Luke's aunt & uncle in the first movie just for having seen the two missing droids. Heck, if Luke had done as his uncle had asked and had R2-D2's memory wiped The Empire's problems would have been solved (no more Death Star plans). While Disney has made the monumentally stupid decision to make the EU non-canon, they still pilfer it for inspiration for their own projects.

@@lashier13 A set of rules in a magical universe is priority #1 in something like star wars, the original trilogy focused on telling the main story while establishing relevant magic and technology rules in the universe alongside it. The prequels focused on expanding that magic and technology system, that is why people like it so much now, there are a few missteps along the way but its pretty ironed out now and it was before the sequels were made. Unlike midiclorians with unnecessary explanation of things in the universe, the sequels directly contradict nearly everything that has been set up since a new hope came out, effectively breaking the universe for anyone who gives a damn. A good example is having a realistic ww2 movie and then halfway through a character starts flying and shoots lazer eyes at hitler and wins the day. The universe had and needs rules and thats a good thing.

You voiced so many of the same questions (and assumptions) fans had when the film came out. And you picked up on probably the biggest issue - how was Rey able to do all of those things? In the originals, we constantly saw Luke failing, learning, etc leading to the big payoff in Jedi seeing him fully trained. Here, there wasn't any real drama or setup with her. Had the film executed some of those fundamentals better, the series as a whole would've benefited.

I believe the novelizations have suggested that Rey somehow inadvertently "downloaded" knowledge of the Force from Kylo when their minds touched during the interrogation scene. (She used the Force for the first time shortly after that, mindtricking the stormtrooper into freeing her.) But if that is the explanation, it should have been included in the movie itself. It could actually have set up a great plot-point -- Rey suddenly has all these powers that she hasn't really "earned", and she may moreover have been tainted since she derives her knowledge from a man who had fallen to the dark side. Will she even be able to tell the light from the dark, when she is suddenly thrust into the "larger world" Obi-Wan once spoke of? But alas, they didn't think of that. We are just left with an over-powered Rey and no explanations, and they never made the threat of her going dark feel real.

I agree TRoS is garbage, but Anakin was kinda the same as Rey in terms of power. Plus, Rey never beats Kylo Ren in a fight, the first time was bc Ren was trying to convert her and he was weak from Chewie's blaster(which had killed people earlier in the movie), and the 2nd time Leia interfered.

Jedi training isn't about unlocking powers it's about understanding the force, we only see Luke train twice in the OT, deflecting bolts with Obi, by the next film he'd figured out how to pull his saber to him. Then he was with Yoda for what could only be a couple of days. He was doing stuff with the force but what was important was what they where telling him. Both made great progress just at slightly different speeds. If one really wants an explanation as to why here's one. She grew up knowing who the Jedi where, Luke didn't. Also unlike him she had to learn in the moment, she didn't have time to doubt as he did, it was do or die compared to his safe lessons. One of the reasons kids are taught by Jedi is because their more open minded, then adults are. Take those facts and apply them to Luke and Rey and their upbringings you'll see why there's a difference. Luke who had responsibility at the moisture farm had already began to perceive certain things as either impossible or possible yet he grew into a Jedt by RoTJ having overcome this limit from Empire. (Even at that point he still managed to put up a good fight with Vader) Rey being on her own, thus more minded, though less certain of herself until she had no choice but to try after she was already overwhelmed by just brushing against the Force, which ia why she tried to run at first. Going to Luke helped her overcome her obstacles just as he overcome his. They where just different kinds.

It was just the first time flying that particular ship, though she was familiar with it already, having worked for Unkar Plutt (blobfish guy) as he modded it over the years. You bring up some good arguments about Rey being so good at everything--a lot of people asked this when the film came out. I saw that there was enough to explain some of it, but I just held off, hoping the next film would elaborate on it, mostly because how powerful she was in the Force. I mean, it's well established that training and years of practice are needed in the series--Anakin, the "chosen one," with the really high medichlorian (however you spell it) count, needed to train for a long time. Rey just picks it up like that. So I figured there would be an in universe, in story explanation the trilogy would unveil.

That is certainly the way the Jedi Order were operating in Anakin's time, but that Order was destroyed, and I think we can assume most of the records about it were destroyed in the Emperor's purge of the Jedi as well. We don't have any indication from the movies about whether Obi Wan or Yoda ever told Luke that the Jedi were supposed to avoid attachments. We also don't know whether avoiding attachments has always been a Jedi rule or if it was invented somewhere along the way.

I came out of the theatre thinking "Well, it's kind of obvious that Rey is Luke's daughter, but I don't mind that". But then I was surprised that not everyone had that same impression. I mean, Rey's a natural pilot, and the force is unusually strong with her, just like Anakin. Then there's that whole lightsaber montage, and Maz saying that the lightsaber was Anakin's, then Luke's, and now it calls to her. Though I did think that the metal hand on R2D2 was Anakin's, since Luke's fake hand wasn't metal in the original trilogy, but I see now that that changed for some reason in this movie.
