She was 9 months pregnant here singing about her deadbeat Dad. And shortly after this song , her dirtbag husband left her and robbed her too. 😢 I love Kelly. I wish her all the best because she deserves it. Sending YOU hugs and love Sceez! You are appreciated. 😊

That’s beautiful. While I think it’s repugnant for any parent to leave, in a sense I can understand more from a father (not saying it’s right). But, a mom, we carry this child for 9 months and have this innate bond. I can never understand a mom who leaves.

Abandonment by a father is heart breaking. Mine left me (and my sister) for drugs and alcohol. My mother remarried an abusive "stepfather" My sister and I fended for ourselves. I married a man that put me back together piece by piece. He is a great father and would never leave me or his children.

That unconditional love part is a rather bitter sweet thing. In order to feel that or to show that love to someone, you have to be willing to allow yourself to be loved for what you are entitled. The good things and the bad. You must open up and be seen as others are able to see you. We often have an golden version of ourselves that we see and think everyone else sees us as being. In order to be seen in the light we must accept that the darkness exists as well. And that is the true beauty of life. To see that we are not perfect and still go out of our way to prove that wrong. Our lives are like a building. If you don’t have that foundation then eventually it will all come tumbling down. Be someone who lays down and supports someone else’s building. Fix the problems and rise up to new heights. Wow, that almost sounded like I know what I am talking about. I’m sorry, I just wanted to put that out there. I’ve heard you speak on being a father a few times and wanted you to know that although we WILL make mistakes in our lives you are starting out pretty good my friend. Much love to you and your family.

Same here! I have a stepbrother that she did the same to who I’ve never met and probably never will. She passed away two years ago so I guess I’ll never know why. I guess some women aren’t meant to be mothers.I have two daughters and I could never do that to them, they are my life and reason I want to do better.
@Anna_M96
@Anna_M96 Жыл бұрын
@@anarangel8040 my mother is still alive and just refuses to admit that she has a huge addiction to pills and other harmful substances, basically any and everything you could think of. She has never taken accountability for not raising me or my brothers and I’ve accepted that she never will. A lot of my family on her side wants me to forgive her and let her be a part of my children’s lives but I don’t see that being possible because of how little I know about her and the little interest she showed in me as a child. I don’t think she deserves the title grandma and I don’t think it would be a healthy relationship for them. You’re right, some women are not meant to have children and I wish the world understood that.

My egg donor walked off and left my sister and me. My dad stepped up and took care of us while working full-time with help from my grandparents. She physically abused us and our father, too. She had mental issues. She was in our lives off and on, mostly when it was convenient for her. We were in our teens when she sent us a certified letter. She said she only had kids because my father wanted us and that we would get married, not because we wanted to be. But, because that's what's expected of us and when we had kids, we would see where she was coming from. I'm a mother of a 19 and 21 year old and to this day, I still don't see it. My kids are my life...

You really nailed it when you stated that a lot of us go through hardship, but it’s what we learn from it all and how we choose to move forward, live our lives and love our children in order to end all of the broken messed up cycles (I paraphrased, sorry). You are to be highly commended for your incredible insight and dedication to being the best dad for your babies that you know in your heart is best for them and you too! My Grandson just turned 1 yrs old today. His dad has never once met him face to face or even seen him on a video call. After multiple times of offering to have him come and meet his son and he turns it down every time, he tells my daughter the other day that he just isn't a kid person even though he has a kid himself. The first time he ever said his name was 2 weeks ago after my daughter told him his son has a name and it's not baby or kid. He flat out told us that he wants nothing to do with his son. He started paying a little money here and there but that's all he is willing to do. I hope and pray a good man comes into my grandson's life and becomes the dad he deserves.

Between this song and your reaction it reminds me of my father, he grew up with an abusive alcoholic my uncle told me once he had planned jumping out of the window to escape the house, and my dad was always working or sleeping when I was growing up. When we were old enough to work in the business it felt like my dad became my friend and that was our relationship, I always figured that he was a good dad by knowing what not to do and therefore just did the opposite of what he grew up with. I appreciate that your words made me feel like there are some more great self taught dads out there. After hearing about the struggles he went through and the way he was with my brother and me, I always felt that my dad was a great dad just by over coming the his beginnings and being the person he figured we needed instead of copying what he saw like other dads did. My hat off to you and every other parent who had to learn parenting on their own

So love that the song resonates with you and how you took parts of the song and relate it to your real life. This is a real life story for Kelly and her family. Her father legit up and and left and only came back when she was in American Idol and won the first season. I don’t know if her mother ever remarried or if Kelly had another father figure in her life like a step-dad or uncle. She never really talked or sang about it..she mostly sang about her absentee father. But during this time of the performance she was married and had a child and was pregnant with her second child. So the whole part of the song when she said “HE NEVER WALKS AWAY.. HE NEVER ASKS FOR MONEY.. HE TAKES CARE OF ME.. CUZ HE LOVES ME..” was about her husband. Especially now that they are in a heated divorce currently.. she has a continuation of this song about her ex-husband LOL. She also also took out all the mentions of her ex in “Piece by Piece” in recent performances..and replaced it with HER..talking about HERSELF.

I’m still struggling to let go of my dad’s abandonment even though we’re now back in touch. I’m 56 years old, I can forgive, but I can’t forget so there’s always hesitation to give too much of myself. This is our THIRD attempt at some kind of relationship. Way too many years to catch up on all the things missed. This song tears me up and unfortunately, way too many of us can relate. Bright blessings to you and your family.

American Idol has been back for a few years, with different judges. Happened to my oldest daughter, her father walked away.. Thank God my husband wanted my daughter and adopted her at age 3. Now in her early 40's he wants to see and get to know her daughter. Won't ever happen.

My kids went through kinda the same thing except he walked away for drugs. I raised my 3 kids on my own....... they're all grown up now and I have 6 grandson's and 1 great granddaughter........in our case we were better off without him✌️

This song always moves me to tears. The fact that she choked up during the performance just made it more moving and emotional. It’s hard to be so vulnerable in front of all those people. Sceez, your obviously a great father and your children are lucky to have you. ❤️

I love your reactions Sceez! You are so real! And there is no shame in showing your emotions, I think there is a lot of people who cried with Kelly. Too many people are discarded by parents and that is sad!

Written in a first-person narrative, Clarkson introspectively co-wrote the song to her father, whose abandonment of his family when she was six years old was utilized as a juxtaposition in contrast to her husband's unconditional love to her and their daughter, River Rose whom they had both promised in the song to never leave. River Rose was their first child.

Oh wow. Thank you so much for this video. I requested this the other day as well. Amazing song and performance. Kelly did a song called I dare you that she recorded live during a zoom session in 6 different languages with 5 other artists... You won't be disappointed 😉👌

This is so sad but a common thing, fathers walked out and the moment your child becomes famous the missing parent wants back in their lives, be it entertainment or sports

Continue to be the father you are to your kids bro. Thanks for showing vulnerability and sharing how you went through the same rejection. I'm so sorry you had to endure that young man. But as you said, it molded who you are and your step father filled that void. I wish you all the best.

I remember voting for her and she became the first American Idol. Her dad didn’t want nothing to do with her, even told her to leave when she finally found him and went to see him. Then she became rich and famous and he wanted to crawl back pfft. She married Reba McEntires son and had a boy and a girl. And she’s singing about her babies daddy in the song telling her dad, he’s a better man than you!

This was my life. I was kicked out when I was 16 by my mother. I called my dad 1500 miles away and he said I couldn't stay with him. I had a job and a high school diploma and was supposed to sign up for college that very night. Instead I was homeless on the streets of Cali 16, 5'1" and 90 lbs. When I started working for the Attorney General of Missouri years later, he suddenly wanted to move in with me and have a relationship. It was a hard "no". I'm still healing but my kids always had me and my son calls several times a week most calls last at least 2 hours. I also found a man who is helping me heal from severe CPTSD. We've been together 12 years next month and he's still showing up, doing the work with me and, helping me pick up the pieces patiently, and lovingly. I thank you for playing this because sometimes I need to hear this song to never forget what was hard won Much love and light ✌️
