Hi, new subbie here! Thank you for sharing your emotional response to seeing New York and the Statue of Liberty 🙂 I must say that I got tears in my eyes when my tour bus was leaving Edinburgh on my first trip to Scotland - we spent 2 nights there and I fell in love with the city! We also went to Glasgow towards the end of the 2-week tour. It was the year it was chosen as Europe's City of Culture 🙂 I will be cruising NCL at the end of January 2025 but heading to the Caribbean from Florida. Love how you've organized your channel - great info! Thanks!

We have very fond memories of the Norwegian Escape too. It was our 2nd cruise & we also cruised out of New York from Manhattan 🥰🤩🥰🤩 Our embarkation was late & it was a nightmare getting on but it was Covid times. We sailed at 30% capacity which was unreal & amazing 🤩 We loved the ship & all the venue. Now 2 years later we prefer smaller ships but that cruise was just so amazing on the Escape. We sailed away at 9pm so it was magical seeing the NY skyline at night. Would love to sail away in the day as well one day. Love the way you present your content Fraser.

I actually cruised on MSC Virtuosa just after the restart, and we only had about 1,000 passengers (capacity over 5,000), so a similar experience! We always make sure to get to the ship for lunch in the main dining room (with a cocktail, of course!) on embarkation day. I really don't like the buffet and generally only visit it if time is tight (like before an excursion) or on "off" hours so it's not crowded.

Cheers for another lovely bit of escapism. I wonder if we all get madly attached to our first ship; certainly the Norwegian Jade remains my and my partner Steve’s favourite, even though NCL did rip out the quirky Hawaiian-inspired decor and ‘greiged’ the vessel. We do prefer the jewel-class to the megaships, having tried the Epic with its weird/freaky bathroom set-up and the Getaway. It’s all the palava on the top decks we dislike, the laser rinks and dodgem tracks and the like. The Escape Solo set-up sounds great, though… we’ve peeped through the windows at the singles corridor and wondered what it’s like beyond! Presumably the blue - was it blue - light in your cabin was chosen by you from a menu? What I’m not keen on are the walls, they have a padded cell look. Loved your Solo meet-up tale! Cheers Fraser

Hi Fraser, how strange that you had to book the shows via the box office. I don't know when this was, but on their other ships since the big P it was on the app, same as the daily schedule. If you don't have the package are the (non) alcoholic drinks for free? I always look for the solo meet up sign on the table, but that might be different on every sailing or ship. I would love the cake, but I don't think that my husband got my hint when I told him I had something to show him... and meant to just pass him my laptop to see just that part of your vlog. Instead he said "let's watch the whole vlog from the beginning....." (We had watched your summary vlog about the trip to Canada before this trip). BTW - what did you do with "your" anniversary cake and the (I would think) specially placed sparkling waters on the other side of the two sets of cutlery?

Hello! That’s funny - I love that you’re doing your own thing to celebrate - I’d take the cruise over that rafting trip, but it does sound amazing! Thanks for watching, and thanks to your husband for watching too! Re the cake and water, I asked my cabin stewardess to remove the water (she did), but she said she couldn’t remove the cake as it was fresh, so wouldn’t go to another guest. I asked her for plates, and took it into the Studio Lounge, so that my fellow solo’s could have a slice of cake with their coffee in there 😊

@@FraserAtSea What a great gesture for the solos! Especially since you weren't a "solo" on MSC..... (the rafting is a bucket list for my husband, but with knee and hip issues, not mine, Nor is setting up my own tent! LOL

Question about booking all your entertainment on the first day- i had to do that on my last NCL cruise and it was frustrating because i wasn't sure what i wanted to and didn't want to SCHEDULE my entire cruise (i mean- HELLO?! i thought this was FREESTYLE?!). SOooo is that now standard on all NCL ships or just the Escape??? It was AWESOME seeing you so tickled about everything - your joy is completely contagious ;D
@FraserAtSea6 ай бұрын
Hey Sara, thanks so much for watching, and I'm glad you're enjoying my content - that's music to my ears! It sounds like it might be an Escape thing, but then I haven't cruised on other NCL ships yet - maybe your question is an excuse for me to book another cruise?! Ha, like I needed a reason... Thanks for sticking around - it's so appreciated!

What is the window shade over your bed?
@FraserAtSea6 ай бұрын
Hey! So that window looks out into the corridor - I guess it’s their way of making the room feel like less of an ‘inside’ cabin! Thanks for watching!

What day did you sail? With the recent heat, it obviously wasn't July. Your MSC video made me think it was October of last year. Just curious. Great video BTW. Happy Norwegian anniversary!

Hey! So I sailed on here last September - annoyingly, my videos are really delayed due to spending so much time on ships last year, haha! Thanks a lot for watching!

Did the cabin bathroom have that "special scent" when in port or did they finally take care of that?

Hello! I didn’t have any issues with the smell in the bathroom, if that answers your question… Fingers crossed! 🤞🏼

Couldn't help but wonder if that cake was intended for another cabin, and some poor cruiser had to stand in line at guest services for who knows how long to lodge a complaint! 🙈😂

Ha, I did wonder the same, but Guest Services couldn’t help me - it became quite the mystery onboard, hahaha!

I had a horrible experience on this ship. Hopefully they didn't put you on Deck 5. I had an oceanview room and there was so much noise from the engines and boiler room. I haven't sailed with NCL since.
@FraserAtSea6 ай бұрын
Hi! I'm so sorry to hear that you had a bad experience - I absolutely LOVED my time on this ship. Yes, there were a couple of glitches, but all handled really well by NCL. Thanks a lot for watching despite your bad experience - I really appreciate you being here!

@@FraserAtSea NCL wouldn't do anything to rectify the problem. So no sail with them ever again. But it is a lovely ship otherwise and very big. I tried the drop water slide, but unfortunately water went up my nose.

Oh, it’s so so expensive! Maybe now that Starlink is available, the cost will at least come down a bit… Some cruise likes (for example Virgin) do offer it for free - long may that continue!
