I've been loc'd for two years now. I haven't had a moment where i felt it wasnt for me. It was actually the reverse. When i was natural and bouncing between press, braids and twists out, it was locs that felt like the saving grace.

Oh my, this is me too 😮 We're probably loc'd the same amount of time as well because mine turned 14 recently. And oh boy am I fighting the cutting ✂️ urge! I remember reading years ago that after ten years that some loc'd ppl start to get the urge to ✂️ and I never thought that'd be me but now 🤔!!! Like... I LOVE my hair, but I feel like a change is on the horizon. Recently had some life changes and have been molding healthier habits so now it's like there's a compulsion inside my heart to shed the dead weight like a chrysalis becoming a butterfly....

I had locs since 2016 (lower back length) and I cut them in 2020 (my hair was already long and natural before I started) and I feel like I should have never cut it. Yes, I miss my curly, big hair but I think I miss my locs more. Short hair just ain’t for me. Right now I got this Bruno Mars curly fro thing going on and I’m going to restart my locs again this month.

Ahhhh I felt your joy when you cut 😢❤️!! Many people dont understand how symbolic both growing and cutting locs can be for us. When you cut them you feel a sense of loss, but most times it's the happy kind of loss. I'm a strong believer in hair holding energy. Cutting it is like cutting away a part of you as you make space for new habits and behaviors. Cutting it is like preparing to meet the new you that you're shaping 🥺 I'm midway between wanting to do this so badly and wondering if I'll regret it. I've hinted to some people that I might cut it and they're like "No!!!" But the funny thing is that they don't have locs qns can never understand how hot knee length hair can get, the limitation of styles, the headaches, and how my hair is starting to thin. I really love my hair, and it's quite healthy as I take good care of it but the thinning is due to the weight and I don't want to trim it. I'd like to cut it off and keep it in case I want to reinstall in the future. Ah i feel like i don't want to sit here and wait for it to slowly keep thinning when i can start rocking some short confident styles. Still very nervous though 🙈
