Just after 911 I was fishing in my kayak at night under the Navarre bridge. I would turn on my flashing head light when a boat would go by so they would see me. After flashing the third or forth boat they turned on their police lights and escorted me to the ramp. I was met by several cop cars and FWC. They searched my kayak and said they were concerned about people tampering with the bridge in the wake of the terrorist attacks. I somewhat understood. The worst part is they cited me for not having proper lights after dark. I was ignorant at the time so I paid the $65 fine. I bought proper nav lights for the kayak and found out about a year later that I was completely legal with my head light all along.

If you have it on the entire time you are good but it would die pretty quick.

Holy crapballs!! An officer who is knowledgeable about the laws and forces, and wise enough to say "I don't know" when applicable? And doesn't make up their own laws on the spot? Isn't participating in feelings enforcement? Isn't fishing for a violation with the person he's engaged with? This guy needs to run for chief or president or something! Freaking unicorn!!

Most game wardens are pretty laid back until you break the law. Lol I like how he pushed the keeping of the pfd on to his son too. Hahaha

Always a good idea to get confirmation on rules and regulations that you may have questions about. And never a bad idea to be friendly and get to know Law Enforcement. They have an incredibly tough job and a pleasant word or conversation can go a long way.

Aliex, I'm glad we have them to enforce and protect our fisheries. It's good for all our fish, oceans, fishing, and whatever boats or water craft we're on. Everything that makes being on the water fun, safe, and legal. 😎 🌊 🎣

I can't stand regular cops but I have no problem with the grouper troopers and game wardens protecting the fish and critters. Too many people have no regard for wildlife.

You know this country is fucked up if you can get arrested and go to jail for fishing without a license but not for jumping over our border illegally and being a criminal here illegally
