I have been doing all these exercises since 2019, except for the straw exercise, when I discovered the entire category of bass singers and wanted to be able to sing like that, and it hasn't changed my normal speaking tone much, but it has increased my vocal range for singing by a mile, like I can go very deep now, I am a mezzo naturally, but I have extended my range into baritone, almost bass levels, quite effortlessly, while actually preserving my natural range in the high end, and I also feel like my speaking voice is just warmer and cozier now. As a side note, I have actually noticed my relationship with women in general has improved these past few years, like women seem to have become less argumentative with me, not sure if it's about the voice though, it's just an interesting correlation.

What happens if you do speak in a deeper voice, does it sound natural, or does it sound like you're doing a "voice?"
@Michael-Archonaeus
@Michael-Archonaeus Жыл бұрын
@@tubewatcher117 Honestly, I don't know really. I don't often actively try to speak in a deeper voice. All I do is perform these vocal exercises regularly, sometimes sing some bassy songs, and then I make a conscious effort to catch myself, if the pitch of my speaking voice starts to climb and lower it. I think it can get weird if you try too hard to speak with a deep voice. People will notice if you are speaking noticeably deeper. You should still sound like you, only a lot less squeeky, which most people probably won't even consciously pick up on.

I had the same issue with my voice getting higher again after time. I wanted to see real and permanent deepening, and I was able to get insane results with one tried and true strategy. Simply smoke an entire pack of cigarettes everyday, even better if the ensuing sickness causes you to throw up. Scream at your wife until 1. You lose your voice and 2. You lose your wife. Now the pain of losing your wife should let you be able to smoke two packs a day. I've found that the second pack in combination with constantly deepening depression has made my voice extremely low. Hopefully my deep voice will help me find a new wife though..

Great video, I like how in-depth you went on your routines as you progressed. Couple of things I want to make clear: -When you "deepen" your voice, it does not necessarily mean the voice itself gets LOWER. It is about relaxing and lowering the position of the larynx to allow it to resonate more and give it that "warmer" sound you referred to later in the video. -Using diaphragmatic breathing helps you to achieve this relaxed larynx position to sound deeper, but it is also crucial to any other form of vocalization, even when you make higher pitches with your voice, including in raised larynx positions. -"Strengthening the voice" is a myth. You will not make your voice higher or lower through "exercising" it. Rather what you are doing is strengthening the connection between your voice and mind, allowing you to reach areas of your voice that you could not before. While your voice may gain some strength at the beginning of any vocal practice, it is nothing more than you can expect from a little bit of "newbie gains" and it won't get much stronger from there. -While the vocal cords are, in fact, a muscle, they do not work in the same way as other muscles in the way they do not respond to "training" in the same way. They will only get so strong, and adding "progressive overload" is likely to lead to vocal damage over time. The vocal cords do not have pain receptors, so unlike any other muscle it is harder to know if you are training too hard and should stop. Anyways, don't take this too harshly, it was very interesting to see a vocal video on a fitness channel like yours and I did enjoy hearing your perspective on all of this. Keep up the good work!

Strengthening the voice is a real thing. There are some people who either didn't speak until a later age, or just simply don't use their voice enough and literally need to strengthen their voice. In which case they would just have to do some vocal function exercises a few times a day.
@TheRealJamesWells
@TheRealJamesWells Жыл бұрын
@@wren6323 I agree with that, I guess what I meant by this is for the average person without any serious vocal health conditions to begin with, additional vocal exercises won't expand your range as significantly as you may think, and it is actually the mental aspect of learning how to properly and safely use your voice that will.

I don't remember how much time it took me, if it was a year or two or just some months, but my voice deepened so much I was surprised. I think it was related to 1) the anxiety prior to that, 2) cultural habits of the way we breath and talk vary in every country.

Blow cold air and then blow hot air, now speak with the cold air, and then speak with your warm air. Truth is, deep voice is hard to listen in this noisy world, and 99% of the time you must use cold air, so a feminine tone to be comprehensible, so yes, we have ""woman"" voice almost by default.

i usually dont do the straw thing with the water just with it in my mouth but that is probably the best vocal exercise/warmup you can do. As for the deepening challenge, its going to be pretty difficult to change your natural speaking voice. You can move down or up your voices such as chest and head voice but the voice at which you naturally speak with would probably never change
@drasxus

For diaphragm breathing, definitely don't hit your chest to help. That makes your voice pop, instead of doing that, try to feel where you're breathing with one hand on your chest and one on your belly. If they both puff out around the same amount when you breath, you're diaphragm breathing. If you feel it only in your belly, your voice is too low and it'll be awkward to talk. If you feel it in only your chest, you're "head breathing" or I think you referred to it as throat breathing. This will make your voice higher as you're speaking. So, the perfect spot is right in the middle where you can feel your breathing around the same amount in both your chest and your belly. I have personal experience with this, as I'm in a debate club and learn all of this. Would greatly recommend this when you're speaking, it makes you more confident! You can also try power poses. They help with confidence, and usually when you're confident you speak more defiantly, which is typically deeper. Try the superman or wonder woman pose for 2-5 minutes before you speak and you'll come across as much more demanding, confident, and you'll seem to have a deeper voice. (This part is mostly psychological.) Going along with the previous part of this comment, this one is probably pretty obvious, but having great posture (including pelvic posture) will help with confidence and also diaphragm breathing. Thanks for making the awesome videos you make, especially the challenges! Hope this helps :)

Really interesting experiment. Loved it. I was told early in life that your vocal chords is like a Rubberband. When its not stretched. That is your deepest voice. And when its stretched u get your higher pitch. So, like with a rubberband you can only do one thing with it using force. And that is stretchin. Meaning you have only one deepest mode but you can train your voice up to overtones that only dogs hear. You cant train downwards. Only way is operation.

If you plan on being a instructor in the military, especially the marines, they teach you how to speak from your diaphragm. Not only does it intimidate recruits, it actually prevents you from losing your voice from yelling so much. If you yell from your throat it typically ends up being higher pitched and is harder to hear. While if you speak from your diaphragm, it is lower and ‘booms’ across recruits so they all can hear you.

As a singer, your video was pretty interesting! From what I could see, you basically changed your resonance and you took off some of the twang (that's a singing therm) that was naturally very present in your own voice. I was pretty shocked when you mentioned people told you you had a high voice. I have perfect pitch and I can tell you from having analysed a lot of voices that you don't have a high voice. The fact that you had a lot of twang in your voice, made it sound higher than it was, because the main function of the vocal setting twang is to "brighten" the voice. As I said earlier, I'm a singer and I don't consider myself having a high voice, but my natural speaking voice sits at least around a third above yours! Keep playing with your voice, it's a wonderful thing to do!

you should definately see some of David Larson's videos, man has an orchestra in his throat, he basically uses a technique called subharmonics, although he is a singer and has trained for years, i was able to get the technique down in like 3 days, and get it to really feel right and smooth in just about a month, so definitly check his channel out edit: Larsen to Larson

Music producer here, your voice definitely sounds deeper, and wider as in a bigger high to low pitch range which make any sound appear wider like stereo, it sounds like your vocal chords are vibrating more aggressively than before if that makes sense

If you're a music producer, you would have noticed that there was no change in his vocal, rather a lower EQ response because he was slightly closer to the mic the second time. Us music producers know this as the Proximity Effect. Doesn't take a week, takes 1 second, just move closer to the mic and you'll get a lower EQ boost...

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:57 🗣️ Lucas aims to deepen his voice naturally in one week. 01:09 💪 A deeper voice is correlated with attractiveness, appearing stronger, being taken seriously, and even income level, according to studies. 02:24 🗣️ Lucas realizes he has been speaking too tensely and aims to speak from his diaphragm. 03:19 🖐️ Tapping on the chest helps control where the air is channeled while speaking. 04:05 💧 Staying hydrated and gargling warm salt water are important for vocal health during exercises. 06:12 🧘 Meditation helps relax before vocal exercises, especially if stressed. 09:00 🥤 Blowing air through a straw into water and humming different octaves helps strengthen the voice. 11:25 🤔 Lucas feels his voice is deeper after one week of exercises. 13:34 📊 Analysis of EQ spectrum shows more density in the lower end, indicating a deeper and warmer tone. 14:30 🗣️ Lucas emphasizes the importance of speaking from the diaphragm for confidence and success. Most people have vocal ranges much larger than the range they use in speech. Relaxing when you talk, keeping air pressure on the vocal folds low, and opening your vowels will make your voice deeper and more resonant. The sound of your voice is dependent way more on your vowel than your vocal folds.

This is such a small criticism, but I want to point it out for those who don't know. When you said, "an egg is up on an eve." What is this "eve" you're referring to ? Is it the edge of a roof where we mount rain gutters? Is that the "eve" you're referring to? If so, that "eve" is actually spelled, "eave" - as in an "eave's trough" which is another way of describing what rain-gutters do.

I think being a calm stoic personality automatically gives you a lower voice, plus all the other benefits connected to a lower voice, I found that learning to project volume properly helped me to stay low, because I have a natural low voice but needed to go higher to project louder, it's took a little practice to learn how to project the lower tone enough to cut through the noise.

Here there is little difference between before and after. Probably nothing. Developing voice, not just a deeper voice, takes longer. If desired, it must be continued for at least 3-4 years with daily exercises and longer for stable voice changes. The voice is an organ that needs to be trained specifically and carefully. Excessive load can cause unwanted problems.

as a person with high pitched voice, this actually helped making my voice deep, so by this video u can get ur voice even more pitched than before only if u were mostly likely trying to speak from your diaphragm during this setup, and one thing that makes it so easy is blowing into hot water with salt and humming simply, if u feel like ur throat is tight or squished sort of thing, it means ur voice is getting deeper, and another technique that u could do for 3-7 days, is saying “ah” or “hm” from your diaphragm, trust the process guys.

I hate my voice, I talk on the radio system alot and hate hearing myself... ugh. But what helps is some video I saw on youtube, forgot what but, humming/buzzing in different pitch levels, from high to low. That actually makes my voice deeper, and like frees up my nasal BUT it is always temporary. Somtimes it deepens then stresses out my throat and then start struggling, and back to chipmunks.

I've been practicing epic japanese anime voices for many years(like whitebeard for example). I'm now regularly told I have a deep voice-out of the blue-in conversations in real life and discord when previously I had what you could call a "gay voice"(no hate, love my gay bros, that's just the sterotype). This change occured well after my college years. My whitebeard and alexander(from fate) impression is also excellent. Which can be pretty fun. Perhaps trying to parrot deeper voices can train our vocal chords and normal manner of speech?
