What’s your best advice for a guitar player, any skill level?
@charlston-51655 жыл бұрын
Just keep going
@dwaynegurule83965 жыл бұрын
This is more so for beginner guitar players because I feel like seasoned players probably already know this. But, I think the best thing to do for beginners in order to keep that motivation to play guitar is not to focus on the same things all the time. Whether it be power chords, open chords, bar chords, scales, etc. Eventually you will get burnt out and bored with it, which is what I see happen a lot with beginner guitarists. Change it up, learn something that's fun to play, like a theme song to a show you watch or maybe a different genre than what you're used to playing and then go back and work on the core techniques. Keep yourself entertained so you stay wanting to get better and have the motivation to do so.

Best way to be inspired is to be part of a scene, and hang out in a studio with a lot of different people with no agendas or goals. Totally loose, free form, no expectations, no time frame or time limits. You have to experience stuff, meet different people. You shouldn't try to re-invent the wheel, or wait for divine inspiration. And play the drums.
@EpicStuffMan10005 жыл бұрын
playing the drums opens a lot of work, but a lot of annoying gear quirks too

I just mean as a distraction to keep from getting bored. No notes, harmony, etc. I have no clue what I'm doing, but I love messin with the drums.

She’s a good pick to get the off the beaten path tracking of how she got to where she is now. Just being from a different part of the globe is a huge change over who normally would be passing through. I try to seek guys/gals that play a different genre of music and have toured back alley clubs and not the Holiday Inn circuit. Anyone who took a different train to get to the station they are at presently.

Playing a different guitar you haven't played in months (like the inventory on your wall) can inspire new riffs. Dig in the back of the closet/basement/garage/storage and pull out a guitar you haven't played to hang on the wall rack up front and put some of the recent played guitars in their cases and out in this secondary storage. You'll either play the forgotten guitar a lot, finding new voices and licks, or you'll not play it and decide to sell it off.

The path Orianthi has taken is a very common one down here in NZ and Australia. Leave school and start playing the club scene or cover band scene...there are/were plenty of gigs and venues. You won't be taking limo's to the shows, but its likely youll be able to put food on the table. Theres no doubt Orianthi can play, but there's also no doubt her looks have opened a hell of a lot of doors in getting her to where she is today...and good on her. She was smart enough to use what the good Lord gave her.

Kind of unrelated unless you take it with a grain of salt but, I watched Valley of Fire from Jason Becker. It inspired me to pick up the guitar again and continue writing even though I have pain. If someone with lou gehrig's disease can create an amazing piece of art then I can too. Lets not forget about Django Reinhardt who frets with only two fingers and Mark Goffeney who has no arms.
