Actually, no! I thought so too, so I decided to play through the level myself to confirm it. Turns out there must've been a vine inside that block, because it just comes back when you re-enter the pipe. Bonus fun: Because you destroyed the blocks under the spikes in the other room, going back in there to die turns it into a mini anti-softlock, having to jump into a Bullet Bill, while avoiding a respawning mushroom.

Hey Carl I just wanted you to know that if you broke the block above the flagpole with the thicc mushroom at the part where you were almost big brain, then jumped into the spike and became small again, you could’ve gone back in that hole and won right then and there unless there was anti-cheese, idk. That's actually a cool thing I'm surprised I've not seen used in a troll level before. Having the effect constantly going off to light up the screen, so you can have a dark level, without being forced to make the entire overworld or sub area dark

All this Mario Maker stuff seems really fun, and at times not so fun when you're hit by a nasty troll, lol Not a level-maker myself but I have an idea someone could make into something, I call it the "snek of faith". Basically you're supposed to ride a snek(s) hidden in a bottomless pit. You could make it a puzzle as to find the coordinates or consistent way to launch yourself to make onto it, perhaps hide some sneks that work in similar fashion and just takes you to some nasty places if you follow them blindly 😁
