I owned a 96. Make sure that if you use the rear wiper washer, it sprays. In my case I couldn't figure out where the washer fluid was going. The rubber hose connector runs down the rear most driverside pillar. (Where the spare is.) Some fluid would get the rear trunk area wet, and some fluid ended up trapped in the rear quarter panel, short story long, i reconnected the hose and drilled a 1/4 inch hole from underneath and found the missing fluid

I don’t mean to be a jerk but, I used to install sunroofs and full power moon roofs aftermarket and factory sunroofs. There’s a drain hose that goes down the A pillar on the passenger side. They develop moss and scum in them. The reason is because they are made from clear hose. Light gets in and mossy sludge develops. That track around the sunroof only drains one way. No need to mess with all 4 ways. J/s Thanks for all your help Scotty! You have saved my wallet many times.

You can also purchase a small brush on a flexible cable. I purchased one of those brushes, but I found it was too big and required considerable force to push it through. I abounded that process when I tried it because I thought it might push the tube off.

@don2deliver9 ай бұрын
A rubber tipped blower can knock the vinyl hose off the metal tips of the sunroof drain tray. then water leaks through your head liner. If you find where the drains come out at the bottom you can clean the tip. They are designed like a check valve.
@kevinallthumbsdiy16939 ай бұрын
I have learned so much from Scotty but I do want to mentioned that, at least for Subaru Outback sunroofs: (a) you do not want to use compressed air as you may lodge a solid piece inside the tube (similar to what Scotty said about not flushing the transmission fluid). instead, use some Q-tips to clean around the opening (b) soft electrical wire will not push through several bends, they will just bunch up; instead, using a long piece of grass trimming plastic line, making sure to melt the beginning end to dull any sharp edges. (c) it is extremely difficult to get to the rear drain tube openings; you will need to use a long tube (think of a long straw) to guide the trimmer line

Similar to a self-defrosting freezer on your fridge but try a shop vacuum first with one of those reducing adapters you may have debris in the tube it may still be frozen you can usually see it if you empty your freezer it looks like a little ring with a hole in it sitting somewhere on the flat surface on the bottom of the freezer but be careful you could pack small solid pieces that may be still frozen in the tube

If your sunroof leaks replace the seal. Drains are there for backup not for normal water flow. Seals last only about 5 years and less if you open it a lot. Use weed wacker string and cut off a 7 foot piece and clean them once you replace the seal. It should not leak at all if it's good.

if the hose is clogged, the air pressure can pop the hose off the drip tray, then you'll have to drop the headliner to fix it properly. Better plan is try pouring water down each. If the water backs up and doesn't drain, run weed trimmer line down the hose and knock out the obstruction.

Under the lemon law, dad managed to get an even exchange for another Caravan. It lasted 10 years before the AC started backing up between the 2 front seats. Dad took it to a friend who owned the local service center + Good Year store and the guy said that the whole radio console had to come out to get that the AC drainage system just to take a look and see if the drainage system is clogged. There was no access to it in the foot wells or from under the van. Dad declined the repair and sold the van to a guy who wanted to use the van for a very long road trip and a beater car.

If you've never cleaned any of these before, maybe don't start with the compressed air, because you might just compact a clog and shove it further into the drain system. Try a piece of wire first. Also, if water or snow is deeper than the lowest part of your vehicle's airdam / front bumper, go about 25 MPH or slower, because that water or snow is likely to catch on underbody plastic panels, the exhaust system or heat shields, oxygen sensor on the exhaust, etc. And it can rip that stuff up and/or right off the car.
