I agree with you on the Black Friday ads. It was a tradition on Thanksgiving evening to go through the newspaper ads.

I really miss the paper ads too Jennifer. Growing up, one of our thanksgiving traditions was to sit up all night the night before thanksgiving. We would wait for midnight to hit and me, my mom, and my big sister would jump in the car & we would go hit the newspaper box so we could get the Thanksgiving/Black Friday special edition Herald Dispatch newspaper. I remember it would be so stuffed with ads. The thing must have weighed 20 pounds or more it seemed like. Lol. We would go back home and we would help mom cook and take breaks together to thumb through the sales ads. It is one of my most treasured childhood memories. ❤️

Most of us on limited incomes are already having to cut many things we have always enjoyed. I think about my parents purchases after the skimping due to the depression. We live in luxury compared to the bounty we enjoy now. Our lifestyles may have to change but still we are very blessed way beyond most countries.

When I have thin sliced chicken breast I like to mix 1/2C yellow mustard and 1/2C honey together (use more or less depending on how much chicken you have, but keep the same amount of each item 1/4C each, 1/8th cup each and so forth.) Then I put the chicken in to marinate. St least an hour. Longer is better. Then I dredge it in italian bread crumbs, pan fry till golden brown and place in oven to finish cooking. This is absolutely delicious. Y I u can also put this on pork chops. I also do this same recipe using Heinz 57 &honey, using equal amount, then bread. Again. Delish! Hope you like it. The meat is tender, moist and flavorful. Quick and easy. Serve with any side.

We bought two papers trying to get flyers and we had none. Thanksgiving ads are totally tradition for my family too. It isn’t the same to pass phones around or text each other pictures. I missed it and we certainly would have spent more. I was sad that some of the deals we had order online and pickup instead of shopping too which I only knew because it was on my app.

Just today I went to Family Dollar. 4 rolls of toilet paper $6.95. Cat food treats last month were $5.95, today $8.99. I wish we had an ALDI here in Idaho.

Thinking of your mom, hope she's better soon. Before. taking out the garbage i do a silverware count. Had a guest who tossed out three pieces of my good sliver. Much easier to go thru a bag of garbage before it hits the city dump. Noticed today 10 lbs potatoes are $7.95, gf oreo cookies were $7.95 and that was the same price for mixed salad and last week it was $3.95. Just craziness.

Jennifer, Pick and Save (sp?) is a Kroger store same as our former Fred Meyers and they quit printed flyers too. That's when I stopped shopping there. That and their higher prices than competitors, stores' disorganization making them difficult to shop. (That is actually a retail 'strategy' that they think makes a customer spend more time and money in their store. Uh-huh. No.) They don't miss my business; do fine with pickup order shoppers and don't want the dollars from those of us who still want to select our own goods in-store apparently. Before Kroger bought them, they were a Pacific Northwest chain and seemed to care. But these days with undependable supply lines, expensive labor and infrastructure demands I can see why they do what they do. Sorry for the rant...former retail worker! This video highlights again that not only are you an exemplary mother in faith formation, a caring spouse, teacher of compassion and kindness to your kids but also in simple aspects like making sure to purchase foods your family loves your kind heart shows. Thank you for sharing these sweet snippets of your life with us. (Again, sorry for the retail rant. I would delete but I really stand by those comments.)

I know I am going to all but faint when I start doing real shopping again. Pre and during COVID, I kept things on hand to help the family but everyone has scattered to the 4 winds, so I am using up what I have on hand and not buying.much. I buy the jasmine rice from Aldi and I rinse it well before I cook it and it makes a difference. It's not a big deal to me but I do like it a little better.....it's less likely to stick to the bottom too.

We seem to loose salad forks, but not the larger dinner forks! Likely becwuse I never use them since they seem too big for eating with. Regular size canning lids - if you have a Dollar Tree they have them 10 for $1.25. I have had an excellent seal rate with them.

When you have an iphone issue go to google and\or KZbin. There are all kinds of videos out there that can explain how to do things ..i was given an iphone 8 had charged it when all of a sudden it rang, said swipe to accept call and my grandsons face appeared. Imagine his face when i said horw can you call? I don't have a card it wasn't set up with a phone company..yup i learned fast how an iphone works!
