the really depressing part of this story is, if it takes one year for snow, that's about 120ish years on her side, so even if it takes 10 months, she's long, long dead before he returns

def's got something to do with the machine's curse. they nuked the machines who were curating the sacred site that they built. the treefolk had no understanding of that at all, all they knew was that the machines were antagonistic towards their way of life. they just wanted to be rid of the machines. they didn't really understand or consider any consequences of shutting them down. that's my theory. probably could be tied in with the mysterious curse they talk about. also, might not be a coincidence that the machines strung up and torched the human. probably just artistic license to send a messages about what machines unchecked can do to humanity.. also entirely possible it works, in this way, on multiple levels.. like, over there the temperature dropped and it was able to snow only after the machines got nuked. on our side, machines are still going strong, so global temperatures are higher. i can't imagine an author who seems partial to nature's side of the deal could possibly resist commenting in some way on global warming. especially after drawing such obvious parallels to stripmining and combustion energies. is how i see it, anyway. could be wrong. am often wrong.

He probably miss counted the passing of time between his world & this, like when Lucy first set foot in Narnia she felt like she had been gone for hours when she had just been gone for mer minutes. Or when they all where almost all grown up & had been in Narnia for years & they fell out of the wardrobe just as they had been the day they arrived in Narnia, it’s just the same with this (probably it’s another part of Narnia then Peter, Susan, Lucy & Edmund)🤗

Listened to the audio around the time it came out. And I’m sitting here 9 hours later getting ready for bed when I realized that if he left “Narnia” and went back the next day and the amount of time that passed in “Narnia” was 4 months. They’ll likely never met again, since winter is ending at the end of the story. By time it snows decades will have gone by…. My heart

The math is really sad on this. While it matters where the story takes place, we can estimate when he will be able to go back. If we assume he returns late February, as he went across as the last of the snow went away, and that the earliest he could go back is the beginning of November, that makes approximately 240 days before he can go back. using the conversion of 1 day = 4 months, that means 80 years will have passed on the far side of the bridge before he could return. It's really sad to think about it. Every single hour Stan spends at home is 5 days Kalela will spend wondering if she'll ever see him again. By the time he can return, she and everyone else he met there will likely have passed away. Imagine living hour to hour, day to day knowing that the love of your life misses you and there's nothing you can do to get back to her before she dies.

In which some bloke encounters the Noelle Holiday of a steampunk Narnia. Honestly, I really hope that Darkly_Gathers does more with the setting. And if the MC seeks to repair the bridgebetween worlds, he should simply make his own snow from ice-shavings, spread it across the bridge, and attempt another crossing. Even if that sweet girl is long gone, with him instead meeting her descendants, surely there is still much that can be done on the other side...
