I feel that his solution to the first level is far harder that necessary... Couldn't he have just tossed the shell into the on/off blocks, had it bouncing back and forth, then used the snowball to hit the switch and drop it? Seems easier to me.

Was thinking the same thing (I assume you mean kill the thwomp, then throw the shell into the solid red blocks, use the snowball to hit the on/off, the shell drops and speeds towards the block, then you just stand there as the powerup spawns on top of you)

Real solution for first one is to trap the thwomp under red blocks. Use a shelmet to get under the thwomp while holding shell. Throw shell to to the right of thwomp. The shell will be blocked. Spin jump on snowball to get back up. Get new snowball and hit switch to win.

YO this is what I was thinking! I couldn't see any way to get the shell in there, but that's because I don't actually play MM or SMW so I don't know exactly how shelmets interact with thwomps or any of the spacing of it. If that's what's intended then I feel very proud of myself.

Your making this way harder than it is dave. if you throw the snowball UP on the red boxes when you hit the ON/OFF it will start to roll by itself. when it hits the ground, your already up there because thats where you turn it on. I need to try this level.

I just played and beat the first level in the video the correct way, very difficult level, the solution is as follows: you must bring the thwamp under the red blocks and activated them so he stays under the blocks, then deactivated the blocks and go under them and grab a shell, you must then jump onto the thwamp and over him and throw the shell to activate the on switch and go under the red blocks, then using a snowball get above the pipe and throw the snowball just above the bridge to hit the shell, therefore allowing the pipe to spawn more shells again, then grab 2 shells, a helmet and a shell normally and damage boost in between the thwamp and the red block, and throw the shell, it will keep bouncing, now use the snowball that you shouldve grabbed earlier and bounce on it to get above the pipe and above the bridge, then grab a snowball and hit the on off switch and claim the power up. Ill post a video so its easier to understand.
