Cold blooded! As a sigma male, you always speak from the standpoint of facts. The masses can't handle facts. You have destroyed their hero and any argument they put forth. They will put forth an emotional respond that reveals their insecurities and ignorance.

Seriously, I've been wrestling since I was 10, karate for 30 years years, boxing for 20 years, judo, shidokan, and so many others in between. Been a lifter for as long I've known and have been blessed to execute 4x plus bodyweight lifts. The average person who looks at me is smart enough not to engage. However, NONE of these systems are combatives in the way we think they are. Real life combat is not the same as sport. Nothing close. My skill and strength learned on the matt, in the dojo or weight room mean nothing when it comes to life and death. They'll put a target on my back with bad people who like a challenge. I don't care if the brother in the video isn't a black belt in anything. Who cares? Listen to the concepts he discusses in his other videos, and then apply them to your sport or life. Most of us here are pretend tough guys who have no reason or business to engage in street combat. Even with my strength and skillset, I'd have to be an idiot to do so. BJJ is a great activity that can help and inform your strategies in combat sport. If it's all you know, you can do fine in a street confrontation with someone who's drunk and/or doesn't know how to fight. Multiple attackers who don't know how to fight? Then run. Even better, see it before it happens with situational awareness and walk away Try that stuff against someone who is legitimately battle hardened at your own risk. Listen to what the brother is saying. It can save your life (and give your nafs a chance to straighten out). Thanks for your videos. Great work and the younger guys should open their ears and hearts. Salam

My main martial arts is NoGi Grappling, but I never had any issue with your topics honestly. To answer your question about why people suck off Joe Rogan, it's because he has fame and money, so they want to be like him & liked by him. But Joe Rogan even says himself that he is not a fighter forreal.

Damn... I just came upon this video and I cannot tell you how nice it is to hear what you said... I have felt so alone in trying to express the very same attitude you represent. I started some 40 years plus, studying under the one of Riley Hawkin's best students (as a white boy lol). Those skills were karate based, we fought, not really sparring. It prepared me for anything. As I progressed I came to a similar conclusion as you did about weaponry, and the need for getting out of this mainstream thinking about ground fighting and MMA. I think Ju Jutsu is misunderstood... One of the primary bad habits of sports Ju Jutsu that imo will get you killed almost as fast as using the ground as a base in the streets... is this idea of gaining position first, to execute technique. On the street there is no time for this. It was just really nice to hear someone else say some of the things that I believe and teach. Thank you.

I agree. I trained in martial arts for years. The toughest training was kyokushin karate... I had to spar full contact with all students one minute without a pause to pass grading...Now doing only bjj they brag about their injuries or competitions but would be scared to be punched... All fights start standing in a real case scenario so it needs to be foundational as a self defence system.

I remember first learning about Kyokushin karate in the late 90s, I think from Marco Lala if I recall correctly, and then Geoff Thompson a few years later. It really shook up how I had viewed martial arts and fighting, but I'm glad it affected me then because it helped to serve as a compass. Is karate the style you mentioned not long ago to be the style you want to share with others in the near future?

As an Army combatives instructor, we teach ground fighting. However, the ground and on your back are the last places you want to be in a war zone. You need to eliminate the threat quickly. I prefer boxing and kickboxing. Although the LINE system is the Marines combatives, I was lucky that my CO was in the Marines prior and thought all his NCOs, now that is a nice system.

Maurice Smith, Pedro Rizzo, and Marco Ruas were the final evolution in the emergence of Mixed Martial Arts! First, we saw Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu against possibly hand picked opponents as the Gracie's marketed their Jiu-Jitsu. Then we saw the surge of wrestlers that introduced he "Ground & Pound Era" with men like Mark Coleman & Mark Hunt. Then the higher level strikers came back with takedown defense and "counter jiu-jitsu" bringing in the final evolution of the style vs style era. Once Maurice Smith knocked out Mark Coleman we then began to see the true introduction of well rounded MMA athletes.

I remember watching Maurice Smith and Pedro Rizzo as a kid, Maurice Smith was an inspiration to me because he was the first well rounded mma fighter, sort of a precurser to the GSP and Demetrious Johnson prototype. Love your videos Sayf keep them coming.

Hello I just came across your channel, I like the way you speak. I'm familiar with Martial Arts, I was introduction to Karate was through Master Aaron Banks in Manhattan, unfortunately he passed away, I left he's school as a Purple belt, it's a mid point through the art. You talk much like him, I like that. I'm currently following on KZbin a Self-defense person called Professor David James, he's fantastic. I'll subscribe to your channel, thank you very much for being real, and giving real information to us. Take care and be well.

I don’t really do this but Actually I’m going to pick you up on that issue as having personally trained with and know Geoff Thompson and his wife Sharron, Geoffs learnt Karate in his early days as in the UK karate was the main martial art that was available as I suspect was the same around the world . He holds 10 black belts in VARIOUS STYLES /ARTs, from wrestling, judo, sambo, boxing coach, karate, Muay Thai, Japanese jujitsu and has trained in others that he holds lower grades in. His early art may have been Karate but Geoffs 3 Second Fighter self defence system is in fact BOXING based with judo, Sambo, Greco and Freestyle wrestling. His last range and system he believes should be studied if one has time is Muay Thai which he is also qualified in. I will point out that when Geoff was on the seminar scene teaching, the art of Bjj/GJJ was minimal in UK with very few clubs and probably only 3 Blackbelts with other clubs being run by Blue belts!!! That’s how old Geoff and I are. He wouldn’t have had much access to the GJJ/BJJ system even if he did want to incorporate it. Nowadays the UK has hundreds of BJJ blackbelts. Peter Consterdine his partner in the British Combat Association uses a system of pre-emotive striking that is more karate based with the double hip strike but he has also been influenced by Wing Chun and Combatives. On top of the fact the BCA used to run bi-monthly seminars for many years in various systems for its members to get a taste of what’s available in the world of martial arts. I know Geoff went through a stage of saying that all these ranges were in karate, but he had to go to boxing and wrestling to eventually come back to karate and realise this. 99% of Karate in the UK is karate-Do not the old style of Karate-jutsu! That said most of his students worldwide were from various backgrounds and at no point to get qualified under Geoff did one need to take up karate!!! In fact he would state at one of his book signings to me that to gain a black belt in his self defence system you needed to be able to do 3x rounds with a good boxer, 3x grappler and 3x Thai plus know all the fence and the 4 phases of combat which were in his books.

@adam28171: This may surprise you, but I have been a member of the BCA for some time. Having spoken to Thompson, Peter and Ian. Geoff has indeed trained in many martial arts, but CAN BE HEARD AND SEEN saying karate was his base. In fact, on many occasions he can be seen throwing a traditional reverse punch as a preemptive strike. Next, of course he did not demand that you have a black belt or training in karate! Nor did he in BJJ. So please be honest about what you are saying. I know you are surprised at what I know, but I forgive you for that. Just understand that I am aware of the people you speak of including Abernathy. Lastly, combatives has borrowed more from traditional martial arts than any other art. Ax hand= shuto and so on. As for karate as a base, that is pretty well known even with people like Gary Spiers and Terry O'Neil.

Admittedly, the only striker i knew was maurice smith , mostly due to early ufc and his fight with mark coleman. All in all every point in this video was well made. As a person that isn't american (im greek) i believe the number one reason why americans are so easily impressed by someone who boasts and generally talks a lot about something (for example Joe Rogan) is because of one thing. They are easily susceptible to advertising. Take Bjj for example. It doesn't matter to them that 90% of the techniques already existed at judo , catch wrestling , sambo etc , it doesn't matter to them that in a self defense scenario the last place u want to be is on the ground and it doesn't matter to them that wrestling wins practically 90% of grappling/mma matches due to its ability to dictate where the fight goes. They were sold that bjj is the swiss army knife of martial arts and they will continue to believe that till they die.
