I believe that you're of a different nationality. So in India, it's pretty common. Our mothers sort of put us down and talk about our bad qualities all the time, when they're talking to masi Nani mami bua dadi, family friends, aunties. It's a common thing, rooted in the "nazar" concept. 😀 Actually in our country if a higher class kid is being treated well by parents, the middle class goes crazy and thinks that their kids are spoilt. So the privileged kids are not publiced praised by their parents specially, they know that their privilege is hated upon by the middle class and if they praise their kid, then the family will not be thought of as well cultured and "Desi". 😀

Your absolutely right. Navya showed grace, poise, dignity and empathy towards people in general which both the senior ladies lacked throughout. Shweta was right when she said she was opinionated. They've got nothing to lose by speaking their mind and "how" to speak it. No decoration needed. We've seen sathiyae hue cute buddhe dadu who are still endearing. But Nani and dadi have historically not been that way because it's a relatively new concept for having a 3/4th generation working woman. She's the example of 3/4th generation working woman, they have equal amount of experiences and perspectives like sathiyae hue cute buddhe dadu but sathiayi cute dadi who speaks her mind is a new and upper middle class/upper class concept, hence most Indians aren't used to it. We're used to dadis n Nanis being limited to being the understanding sacrificing adorable women who express their love to us by feeding us and telling us stories.

I am not from India nor do I follow Bollywood but I have to admit there was lot of substance in what Shweta mentioned. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea but I do agree with her. Navya is the smartest & the cutest of all the ladies, so pls keep your overconfidence with you both the ladies. Some people saying poor Aishwarya is stuck between them. Aishwarya is no less. All are speaking from the space of privilege. You can actually go and do business because you have money. You need not seek validation from social media when a sizeable population adores you for just being related to Mr. bacchan. All said and done the young girl is very grounded. I felt the older ladies were very condescending towards the girl and others in general.
