Yes, Bruce Thomas came up with some REALLY creative bass lines. One doesn't have to be a speed demon or a slap monster to be a hell of bass player.

It's really an incredible bass. If I paid $1,000 more for it than I did, I would still be happy with it.

Outstanding mix of the bass with this song

I'm glad you approve. The way I record is a bit hit or miss. Some songs just work out better than others.

Two of the busiest basslines I've ever had to learn, Joe Jackson's One more time and Chelsea!!! That's probably why I haven't played either since 1985ish. Good to hear it again Troy. You might have inspired me to noodle around with it again. LOL

Thanks a lot!! To be honest, it wasn't to bad... for a Bruce Thomas bass-line.

Fantastic! So busy but still melodic. Beautifully played, Troy!! Happy New Year! Those Bass Collection basses look and sound fabulous!
@TJH31132 күн бұрын
Thank you very much! "Busy and melodic" describes Bruce's bass-lines perfectly. I didn't really enjoy the process of making the "Collection" videos, but a promise made is a promise kept. I still had one, or two, to go and I'll possibly still do those. While I loved them all, I've downsized considerably over the last year or so. It was a great experience and I learned a lot of what I really value in an instrument.

It’s gorgeous Troy. Well played. It’s that classic 80s root and fifth used by Duran Duran etc.

A great and fun bass line. And great playing as always Troy! 🙂 Also it was intreresting to see the 1080p version to. Not only the image itself changed but I believe the sound got a bit crispier as well. 😀

Awesome cover! I never listened to much Elvis Costello, but it reminds of Joe Jackson...If Elvis' music is similar then i think i'll dig it! Funny story too regarding the work connection

Joe Jackson and Elvis Costello defined an era of music that seemed hip here in the US at that time. BTW, if you are a Joe Jackson fan, have you heard his collab with William Shatner doing Pulp's The Common People? It's amazing.
@TJH31132 күн бұрын
Thank you! They definitely have their similarities... aside from both bands having great bass players.

Tremendous Fret Workout but you nailed it Troy! IF music were an Olympic Sport, "Chelsea" would be The 400 Meters! Long enough of a race to keep you focused but won't Kill Ya! 🤣 Awesome that Miss Lynn was paying attention and reminded you of this tune! Glad you shared it too and what a hectic but Fun start to 2025! EC And The Imposters was one of those very few Bands who could change their Style and Sound on a whim and act as if "No Big Deal...it's how we roll"😉 With the brutal weather coming to Town, I'm remembering that it's only 80 Days till Spring! 😂 Appreciate you getting my New Year Rolling in the right direction! WOW that's such a busy bass line! I always liked that tune just because of the bass line. Way to go. Wish I could do that. P.S. did you ever give Zappa - FIfty Fifty a listen too?
@TJH3113Күн бұрын
It is busy, isn't it? I'm sure you could do it... every song starts with the first note and ends with the last, you just need to work out the notes in-between. The Zappa song? Maybe it will grow on me.

Great as always Troy. What strings do you have on here?

Thank you. These are D'Addario EXL170's which are slightly heavier than the EXL220's I use on most everything else.
