@@terrancecloverfield6791I think the "TRUCK" narrative is already over since the real highway range is ~260 miles. Driving it 80-10% with towing and you have a sub 120 miles range. I don't think that anybody who needs a real truck would go for this.

"I am not here to make the Cybertruck look good." Love that line. If there is one thing I have learned from watching you, Kyle, it is that you will always give your honest, often BRUTAL opinion on the vehicles you review. I dig your excitement in technology and specs, but also dig that you are willing to say when something about a vehicle sucks.

42:40 In regards to the wiper, Lars mentioned 600-800W when talking to Jay Leno (and probably others), but he later corrected himself on X saying that the wiper motor peaks at about 120W. "Quick correction on that one - my mind was on steering motor power (also enabled by 48V) - the wiper motor is nominally much less in most speeds, peaks around 120W. Not nearly as much, but still enabled by 48V since >100W... imagine that on 12V, the wires would be huge!" larsmoravy is his X username.

🎉Interesting🍿Great driving analysis of a production delivered CyberTruck. Francy and at times Kyle let everyone know when Drew was testing the turns just to what extent Tesla let the leash loose. Makes me wonder if it was more for keeping incidents to a minimum as we all know what repair delay stories will await. After all parts will be sourced from one place on the planet and assembly unique to say the lease. 1:43:34

My theory is this one. I think I know why the Cybertruck didn't come with Autopilot or FSD. I think the reason why is because it's steer-by-wire and when FSD is on, the wheels will be moving but not the steering wheel. So while the CT will be on FSD you can do what you want with the steering wheel and even play a videogame... who knows... But there is also a safety concern with the actual LEVEL of Autonomous Driving, it means you won't be able to take over immediately? So maybe that's why they haven't brought it to the CT yes because it was just a matter of an extra second for response or even a discrepancy between the wheels and the position of the steering wheel at that precise moment... Any thoughts on this?
@whattheschmidt
@whattheschmidt Жыл бұрын
That will be how it works when FSD is operating and it's actually level 3+. To start though, it will be in beta and moving the steering wheel will be a thing to take over / knock out of Autopilot / FSD Beta.
@AaronStarkLinux
@AaronStarkLinux Жыл бұрын
@@whattheschmidt Hi, thanks. How do you know you will be able to take over with steer-by-wire? The thing is that we don't fully know how that hardware will work on FSD.

I’m still in the middle of this video and to the point of Kyle and Coleton talking about the grinding noise. Try driving a stretch of road as a control, then try taking 5-10 PSI out of the tires and doing the same stretch of road again to see if you still hear the noise. I think that would help start to narrow it down to see if it’s drivetrain or tire related. Large meaty tires (BFG KO2s in particular) are known for having factory defects that make them impossible to balance correctly, etc. I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if it’s related to the big meaty tires in some way. I’m actually watching this from Apple TV on a home theater setup with a sound system that has a very advanced subwoofer that does itself own extra processing; it’s literally the size of a table. The road noise I can hear is definitely shaking my house a bit and sounds like big meaty tire noise to me. It’s a really low rumble that is almost more felt than heard.

The first deliveries have been to consumers not professional car reviewers yet. Even this one is a loan. When the professional car reviewers get their own in-house CT, then they can perform the full gamut of testing we are used to. Remember most people with off-road capable vehicles rarely if ever take it to those lengths. So don't expect those kinds of vids for now.

what is important in what happens during a crash, like something that bends the body work, not the inner structure, so a hit at like 30mphor a higher speed side swipe What is the cost they will demand to have your vehicle repaired. None of that insurance, because you end up paying a higher premium next time if you cause the crash, so it's not free money. How much will they demand for a windscreen or that motorized bed cover.

Regarding the traction control and ESP, I share your sentiment. Similarly Tesla (still!) doesn't offer any traction control off for a Model 3 w/Acceleration Boost, and these can do 0-60 in well under 4 seconds. It seems like they may be doing something similar with CT where nothing less than the Performance/Beast trim lets you really send it.

Great drive, folks, thanks for the ride-along. As for performance "fun", I'd try it out just to know where its limits are so in case I need to dodge some idiot at 80MPH, I'll do it because I know the truck can handle it. But normal driving, I drive my MYLR near the limits but not over. I like to steer it right around a curve and have it just comply, holding the road. Even on dry snow over previous day's ice this winter, I can push it around a curve a bit and the Traction Control wiggles the wheels a bit and then settles down just fine. Of course, I don't do that when my wife is riding along ;) 😎

Pressure in air spring is the same at different ride heights, only volume changes. Pressure changes with load.

It's nothing wrong to say I'm here to make Cybertruck look good... because it has so many good things to discuss. First of: 1. It looks so freaking good. 2. 48V system. 3. Steer- by-wire. 4. Rear-wheel steering. 5. Stainless steel body. 6. Automatic frunk open and close. 7. Motorize retractable open and close truck bed built-in. 8. Different settings of air suspension height (entry low, middle, and high). 9. House and EV power supply available, and any more that I don't know of

What about the steering ratio going into a corner? I can only imagine trail-braking or correcting speed only to find it jerking across into the other lane as it slows.
