This channel is like late 90s internet - an engaging person presenting very specific, random and intriguing things of interest in their own way, their own style within the confines of the medium,. Very refreshing and welcoming in this era of super-slick videos. I like just chilling on this channel and soaking up the vibes, seeing the packaging, exploring some places, marvelling at old food, lovely. In alternate universe NEW&M started in the mid-90s, hosted on Geocities, has a visitor counter, video clips later provided by RealPlayer.... that sort of thing.

That box design is so awesome, I think it looks like it's from the 70s. The company itself was started in 1951, after dehydrating potatoes for WW2 rations. I sometimes bring them with me on long distance hikes and mix them with some dried veggies, cheddar cheese, and salami while living out my pack.

If you do this again or just do it with regular shredded potatoes, you can drain in a colander and then empty the wet potatoes on a few layers of paper towel and then gather them up and squeeze them until no more water comes out. They will be perfect for frying then.
