Jody, would you consider doing a quartz watch, or is there not enough demand? The Erebus Ascent is one of the most beautiful watches I’ve ever seen, at any price, but I probably wouldn’t wear it because of the size and weight inherent in a mechanical watch. Granted, the Ascent isn’t aggressively large and heavy, but I’ve found that I prefer that extra bit of slimness and lightness of a quartz watch for a daily. Of course the accuracy and set-and-forget nature of quartz is also appealing. Are there other people out there who feel the same way?

I hope to love it when it arrives and if not it did not cost a bundle .Amended 14th May 2024 . Mine arrived today 133GBP + postage so no taxes . Overall I am pleased . It has something of an old Oris about it with the concentric outer ring pattern. The lume is noticeable when I leave my light filled room and walk down the dull corridor. It is attractive and legible. It is certainly light . Strap good. Finish good. The day looks nice . Moans and niggles? I agree the date is so small as to be unreadable . I wonder if the colours should be bolder ( I have Burgundy. ) . Conclusions: I have lots ion watches that look similar. This is different to anything I have. Clean simple but with enough interest in the form and dial to be interesting. A GADA watch? maybe. Reply

@CT-wq1je7 ай бұрын
As someone who wears a titanium watch as a daily I like this, but even at the lowish price, better lume would be good & I'd much prefer a coloured dial. Imagine a decent green enamel or simple subtle sunburst dial. I think it would look better and the legibility would improve off the scale.

This watch is a winner! Winner winner winner! 🏆 Big lover of art deco and vintage styling here, and this line is giving off great deco-steampunk vibes. Very very sweet. 👍🏼 Moans and niggles though: If quartz is what defines you, how about not using the basic 32,768Hz frequency. Much love for Ronda movements and all, but Bulova stamps 262kHz on their recent Precisionist dials (though all Precisionist movements operate at that frequency). And, well, in a wrist showdown that's no contest. That said, I have a bunch of Casios that keep more-accurate time than most of my Precisionist watches, go figure. Next: is Hz embracing the 1-tick-per-second aspect of quartz watches? Cuz that's my main gripe about analog quartz appearance. If this watch had the same sweep as a Precisionist, my order would be in. At least go with meca-quartz would be my request. I have and love many 1tick/sec analog quartz watches. But I still wish that every one of them swept like a Precisionist. I know; battery life yada yada. I don't care about batteries, I care about sweep, yo! 🧹

Love the philosophy of the brand, but I'm a bit disconnected from how the features are laid out and the dial design. I think this kind of brand can afford to be a bit more playful, so I'd recommend for a future more 'contemporary' effort: To have the logo at 10 o'clock or somewhere less obvious (thinking along the line of Doxa's positioning); integrate the complication features in a more seemless way that plays with the colours (e.g matching colour date wheel with the dial, position it right next to the day; maybe a TV/box presentation rather than clashing circle shapes, and obviously size it more legibly); and having the 'centre' dial be provide more colour (I think a silver centre dial mutes the feel of the watch as it clashes/matches the tiatanium case colour). I also don't think arabic numerals are necessary - I wonder what styles of indices they could come up with that represent the retro-digital vibe they're going for - it'd certainly add more playfulness and make me want to look at the dial a lot longer than this first model. Keen to see what comes from them next :)
