Since I have both the CSR (I can use the Lyft bike benefit for insane value plus 10x UR) and the VX I’m pretty good on lounges. plus usually travel with P2 and don’t wanna pay for an AU just for centurion, I’ll likely downgrade my plat next year As if that’s not enough I’m cycling thru delta reserve biz AND Citi AA exec card so doing ok on lounges!

Great video! I just use this card as a lounge access card, but in my airport, lounges can be accessed by priority pass or a united club membership. Flew into Vegas recently and there was a 45 minute plus line to get in. Funny enough there's an add for the Chase Sapphire reserve right beside the Centurion lounge. Ha ha. Flew into Newark last year and the new United Club was great and there was no lineup like a theme park ride to get in. So thinking long term, if I only visit a centurion lounge once a year, then I don't think it's worth the annual fee since other cards get Priority Pass access anyways.

Interesting video. I am surprised that you are moving away from American Express. Best of luck. I have had better luck with the Amex offers on my gold card, but many of the offers are at shops in the Orlando area. They are useful when it comes time to buy Christmas presents.

I remembered your Business Plat video recently, so I figured this was going to be the explanation. Will be interesting to see if you’ll get the Platty back once you cancel the Business Platty. I know you said you’re all booked up until next year, but if you do have trips to book before then assume it’ll be on the CSR? An underrated annoying thing about the Business Plat is the 5x on flights is only in the portal, not direct like the personal.

All you need is to use the UBER, Streaming services, and one Hotel credit and the Card pays itself. Everyone travels once a year and uses the Uber and Streaming services. Not to mentioned the Centurion access which in my opinion is priceless . 😎💪

I'm on the fence Luke. I have had 3 flavors of Plat (vanilla, CS, Bus), and he who remains is the CS version due to its flexibility. To my own surprise, I'm building out the Cap1 Duo (VX, Savor) for simplicity's sake. I will either cancel the CSR or the Amex Plat later this yr without a significant retention or change in reward structure. I'm sick of credits/coupons and "forced" spending to get value man😎 Great stuff as usual👍🏾

This economy will force all of us to evaluate our card portfolios. The days of faking the funk some folks had in regards to Amex Platinum are about to get harder. Most people don't need a high end traveler card.

Well , I’m going to say something about this card , first I been watching almost all your videos Luke , and a lot of the other who are commenting here , thank you for all of you, that take the hit for people like , new to the credit card game , so after seen the video I just came to the conclusion, platinum cards both aren’t for everyone. Big spenders fit well in their agenda , but for those trying to maximize return from benefits, offers , etc, no think so , it’s no the case they (Amex ) are in the game for win ! Remember we already paid for whatever they give us a chance to use , airline credit , Uber credit etc, we start behind the line , trying to level the ground during the year ! I think the only thing I would miss is the 5x multiplier on flights booked directly with the airline. Although, you could still get good value if you have a Chase Sapphire Reserve or a Chase Ink Preferred as those cards have a 3x multiplier on travel which can eventually be used for Hyatt redemptions.

Their Trip Cancellation/Interruption insurance SCREWED ME!!! I charged a $14,000 Alaska cruise from Vancouver to Anchorage. We got covid halfway through. They denied our claim because the it was not a ROUND TRIP CRUISE. We made the mistake of not booking our airfare back to Vancouver on the same card.

A week before I officially canceled the card, I used my MR points to buy my parents rocking chairs for my Mom's birthday, and they had posted the MR credit to my account While waiting for the chairs to ship, Amex took back the MR points, so I had to use another card to pay for the chairs. Earlier this month, I got my billing statement for the card, and they want the entire final payment all at once, including my pay over time and plan it purchases. I called them to find out what was going on, and the customer service rep told me "You canceled your card, and we decided we want what you owe all at once." I always paid my monthly balance, was spending $6k to $8k a month and showing them I handled the card responsibly...very humbling experience and I will never get another Amex card if that is how they decide to treat people!

I cancelled Amex Plat a while back. Too expensive and too much trouble to use the monthly credits. Now considering a 200k welcome bonus on the Bus Plat. Whether I keep that one more than a year will depend on what the credits look like in 2025. I wish AMEX would quit with $10 and $20 per month credits. These days, that might cover a tip or sales tax.

At some point, I will get tired of paying the personal Gold annual fee, tired of the 2 credits and will either downgrade to Green or just cancel it completely. The Blue Cash Preferred is different, that one I can downgrade to either the no annual fee Blue Cash Everyday or the Cash Magnet. I will go the BCE route. I have the Blue Business Plus and also the no fee Hilton, Amazon Prime Business and the Blue Business Cash.

Internal debate I'm having as well regarding the Gold and Platinum cards. They are both up for renewal early next year and will see what changes happen to them. If positive I'll keep and if negative, I'll cancel. As far as alternatives, I am thinking of PC'ing my VentureOne back to a VX and getting the SavorOne for the duo or seeing what Citi does with the Strata Elite and build that ecosystem out. Will look at the Bilt card when they finally add mortgages (if I can pay that way), Wyndham Earner Business and some Chase business cards as well. The Centurion Lounges are a joke as if you don't have the actual Centurion card, you will either have to wait a long time to get in or just resign yourself to never getting in. Definitely keeping the BBP and Hilton Aspire/Surpass cards as I get value from those. I think AMEX has the best overall airline transfer partners but who do you think is in 2nd or 3rd place for overall value on airline transfer partners?

I get why people don’t like it and it is definitely on the bubble, but it’s just too easy to justify it for now. Emphasis on for now. They really need to look at the thing from top to bottom and rework some of it because some of the stuff like conveyed status has really lost meaning with the rise of both competitors and even other Amex offerings .

Luke, on a different subject (card), man, the Amex Delta Reserve card is amazing. I know you also cancelled yours before the new upgraded benefits. I actually have two of them since this card is sooo good now. Business & consumer versions. Also, by having both I get automatic Silver Medallion status. Plus 8 One-time guest passes at Delta Sky Club. I won’t mention the super power of this card.

But you still have business platinum? If yes then this is not cancelation, but just downgrade. I will be cancelling both gold and platinum cards this year and this will be final. I'm just debating with myself about platinum card, but gold will bite the dust most definitely.

This is another "click bait" video with a very misleading title since you're keeping the business version of the Amex platinum card. Like many other so-called "credit card experts" on KZbin, you would gain a lot more credibility by cancelling all of your Amex Platinum cards. I guess the "FLEX" aspect of this glorified card is too hard to give up.

No biz plat is just one person and employee cards are expensive but the biz plat gives me two guests in escape lounges
