I'm currently in the middle of a very similar project. Redoing all the stair treds, and the railings along with them. The treds, no problem, but the railing and spindles, uhg. Been giving me daily brain cramps as I try to wrap my mind around how to go about it. Great video, and certainly gave me some insight on how to start. Congrats on getting yours done, now time to step away from the laptop and get busy on mine.

I'm a simple man, I would've placed it on the other wall because it would leave more room to move big items/furniture around and seems less hassle. Unless I'm missing something.

I would have loved to do that for those reasons you stated! Unfortunately code says I at least have to have a guard rail here, so I made it a handrail and comply with both 😃
