obviously not a car anyone should even consider thinking about except a 3 year lease-and-dump like it's the new plague. 24 spark plugs says it all and nobody can take something simple and stupidify it like Mercedes-Benz. It's not even cheaply made, it's just incredibly stupid engineering so the engineers can brag about it in the inner circles or something

Yes sir, my dad used to always say. If you can’t afford it new, you’d likely not be able to afford it used. Of course there’s exceptions to the rule and you can get lucky with a drivetrain built perfectly but in general take a good look at finances. Alex clearly can take a loss and as he’s a mechanic the loss is much less then your usual joe as he can devalue his own time as KZbin makes up for it for you and I, this would’ve been sold 10 issues ago.

On my 07 f150 I had a spark issue under load as well and was chasing it around replacing coils, new plugs etc. and it made no difference. Until I changed electrical connectors going to each coil. The pins in the plug were worn out and once it was under a heavy load it’d miss. So maybe something like that since you’ve had the coils out so many times and it has over 100k miles.

I owned a 2001 CL600, non-turbo V12. I bought it in 2008 with 91,000 miles and shipped it to Kuwait. Kuwait is the ONLY country where I would dare own a used Mercedes because every other garage is a German car / Mercedes expert. Repairs are inexpensive, and if something expensive goes wrong, the dealer's expert mechanics moonlight and repairs are cheap! I had a massive oil leak that was solved by taking the top of the engine off. One night I dared venture in to the repair shop and saw my car's cylinder heads, intake manifold, the whole fuel injection on the ground! I was told not to worry. The Indian Expert Technician (moonlighting) was putting back together the parts so fast and smooth that he could have been blindfolded and continue his work. I told the shop owner I never wanted to see my car in pieces and asked him to deliver the car when it was done. Believe or not the car ran perfect for the next six years! Of course I had issues with the sunroof electrics, power window electrics and trunk release electrics, and also sticky knobs that were practically melting. The car was a Palm Springs car so the California sun had started the meltdown but the Kuwaiti sun took it to another level! I left Kuwait in 2014 and gave it to a friend. It was a wonderful car, smooth, silent and blindingly fast! BTW the engine oil leak repair cost me about $5000! At the dealership it would have cost me triple!

I’d replace your coil pack man know for the CL65 it’s expensive but I’d guess that fixes your issue since it didn’t misfire on 13psi but the higher boost and heat is not working with your coil pack…. it's no secret, reduced quality to perpetuate repairs, because making it just as good isn't profitable. they all know they are going to lower quality standards for replacements when the fixes come rolling in just outside of projected warranty claim periods, cause that is how they can perpetually develop income. if they had the same standards they did during initial model year production, then they'd loose money cause the parts would last too long.

Alex, thank you for this video. You never give up and you keep finding new issues. MB should pay you for finding these design flaws for them. I really appreciate V-12s and quality engineering, but I would never own that model MB. Once you get it fixed and can put 1,000 miles on it with no issues, sell it to an MB enthusiast and get a new cool car to fix!

41:05 WoW! I think its safe to say there is over Million horsepower worth of cars in that garage. Keep it up Alex you will get it strait. Your have to be the most through Mechanic on KZbin and to be Mercedes tech at that. You have some serious mental fortitude! One of the many reasons I love your channel and you voice you thought process so well, Amazing job!

Dang, man. It is cool to see you learning as you go. I’m not admiring your disappointment/feelings of defeat, but the process is good to see for those of us who are just dipping our toes into learning something. You’re very familiar with this type of work and are doing these multiple things to care for your family (ultimately). It is a push to pursue those things that we enjoy, despite difficulty, to provide for those nearest to us.

I like to think of the CL65 as the final boss that even the most skilled players cant beat... Any other car you work on makes it look like you could do it blindfolded but this one shows your limits, which, by the way, are insanely high

Alex, I am amazed that you are so persistent! I think your Cl65 is cursed. I've had two problems with my 2007 SL65. Replaced the tranny which I blamed on the extra abuse from Rennteching it. Just had my rear suspension lines and distribution block replaced to the tune of $6K. Yikes. Still cheaper than a new one. And mine is way cooler and still pretty fast. Renntech tuned mine and it's been flawless and turned it into a beast.

My dishwasher broke today after 8yrs service I bought a replacement which was more expensive but had no choice and the pipe which connects to the waste was different 🤔 But as luck would have it the new one had a flexible end that was a tight fit into the existing waste 😊 I was lucky Your patience and determination to fix this mercedes goes above and beyond 🙏 I drive a C350 diesel wagon no issues I take my hat off to you for your determination It gives us all inspiration and hope 😊 I'd like a buddy like you pal 👍 keep up the amazingly good work 👏

Oh yes I have one as well. Also a lot of people think their ABC pump is shot when it’s not. Use air pressure into the ABC fluid reservoir to push the fluid into the pump, and while doing this push the abc raise button to open the fluid solenoid this will allow the fluid push into the system. I know your pain. I’ve changed that hose three times!
