LIKE IT SO THAT HE SEES IT! You have installed the V-belt rollers the other way around. I mean these two wheels in the middle of the engine close to each other. I even checked your first videos and they were the other way. I noticed this because the top roller has grooves and a smooth part of belt rests on it, and the bottom roller is smooth with a grooved belt on it.

That company is able to cover parts for life because most of us can’t or won’t do the work that you’re doing on any Euro car. Compound that with the astronomical prices that can accompany getting work done at a dealer or third party shop and many of these cars never get repaired to this level. I’m glad to see you’re able to do these project vids and make money in the process though.

I think they're counting on the fact that they sell quality parts and expect those parts will perform while that person owns it (the warranty is not transferrable to the next owner). Both of my cars are European (Volvo and Mini) and older (2007 with 141k miles, 2003 with 161k miles) my parts supplier is pretty much exclusively FCP Euro. The only time I made a warranty claim so far was due to my mistake. They honored the warranty no questions asked.
@brandonchism6960
@brandonchism6960 2 жыл бұрын
@@ghostwrench2292 To be clear, I don’t doubt the parts are of great quality. It would be hard to maintain a good reputation even with such a great warranty otherwise. But I do think you’re correct as well given the dwindling amount of owners that keep/maintain cars as long as you. I’m even guilty of letting them go after awhile. My 97 M3, 01 A6, and 01 A4 had 117k, 186k, and 224k respectively. I did my own work, but didn’t keep them after replacing parts and moving on to another car. Take care!

Trick for getting that backrest seat adjust light off, is to pull the 2 fuses (drivers side fuse box between the two relays. lhd) while the engine is running. Turn off and replace them. Mercedes wanted £300 (minimum they said) to check and 'reprogram the seat modules'.
@technocody9296

Lol, my friend bypassed reprogram power windows by cutting wires from BCM and re-wired directly to battery with 3pins or 4pins relay to get power from ignition. Power windows will move without bullshit BCM. His Audi's power windows are still working in about 2 or 3 years. No, I won't buy VW/Audi even with EV motor because fuckedtard engineers designed to obstructed DIY repairs. I'm pretty sure they done to VW ID.4 too.

Great work! Shame about the dead bank....if i hazard a guess I'd think maybe faulty coil pack? Mercedes uses non automotive grade components in them so they are really easily prone to heat damage, which then means solder joints can very easily crack if the pack is moved slightly! On a seperate note, maybe in the near future I can ship you my NAG52 controller to play with once I have it up and running! Should improve shifting a ton on the 722.6 boxes

I don’t disagree But same scenario for a similar age BMW “M” Sport model or Porsche etc etc.. This is a BIG V12 engine, a lot of components and complexity. As per the video, a lot of stuff is easier to service / maintain / replace etc with the engine out, which is time consuming and expensive when a dealer does this. Considering age of vehicle, to drop the engine and do all of this makes sense...

@@NickelArcade123 E36 M3 Great car. 👍 Older BMW V12 & V8 engines have many known issues / problems etc When they r running well, it’s great, but when they r not, it can be a nightmare & very expensive. U really need to use a mechanic who has much experience with these motors etc. Modern engines are good in some ways, but there is now so much more electronics / computers and emissions control systems etc that its extremely complex. A lot more stuff to go wrong or to not be ok, and can be difficult to diagnose what is causing problems. 🤷🏻‍♂️ 🤷🏻‍♂️

@@NickelArcade123 Also As a general rule In the past, things were built to a better standard and with longevity in mind. Nowadays, everything is analysed on a cost / benefit basis etc And built accordingly down to a certain price / quality. I think most manufacturers build cars nowadays to theoretically be ok for 5 or 6 years, and after that, they don’t care. Disposable / throw away society. After approx 6 years, rather then spend big $$$ on repairs or maintenance, the car very likely gets scrapped... 🤷🏻‍♂️

I’ve replaced one of those lines in the car before on a naturally aspirated V 12 it was a pain in the ass. I had to pull the transmission and jacked the engine way up to get it out and if I remember correctly I think I had to drop the exhaust on the driver side I also did it on the ground without a lift. I will never do one on the ground again LOL if I ever have to replace those lines I’ll have to have a lift because doing it on the ground sucked haha.

The actual time he spent on this job has no relation to "book time" at a dealer that you would be charged. I cannot say for sure, but under warranty a job like that may pay the technician 30-35 hours (my guess). Perhaps a Mercedes technician can give the actual labor time to R&R both cylinder heads on this? I can tell you I've been paid less than 12 hours to replace all 4 pistons on a turbocharged, direct injected, DOHC, VVT engine and about 20 hours to replace an engine shortblock on another 4 cylinder, direct injected, turbo, DOHC, VVT engine.

They cover the parts because people likely sell the cars after they make an expensive repair or before the part being repaired fails again. I would estimate maybe 1 in 1000 parts sales actually gets sent back for warranty, or less

Alex, you've been such a rapidly-rising KZbinr because: 1. you're a nice guy; 2. you don't talk down to your audience,; and 3. you don't claim to know everything in the world about cars. I love seeing your success, and wish you the best. I see a million viewers in your future...
