I confirm the rudeness of Canada's immigrations. I had a transit in Toronto, between Peru and France, as it oddly was the cheapest fare. They interrogated me as if I had been Pablo Escobar, and really scared me. Then at some point I asked, irritated: "Why should I give you any of those personal informations ?" then the officer went red and litterally shouted "DON'T YOU GET IT ? YOU'VE BEEN TARGETED !!!" and explained that they had imagined I was trafficking cocaine, as they could not figure out why I was taking such a long route. So I explained, I just had a cheap ticket from a travel agent going through Canada. To what she replied I should have told her this before: blaming *me* for her agressive attitude. But... she never asked at any moment why I was taking this route. Does not make me want to go to Canada ever, from that first impression, it looks like a fascist country.

I got a similar interrogation at security before. It was the first time I'd ever seen a security dog used in a line, and it was set up so that people walked individually past it. I had recently bought a vintage TWA carry-on bag from someone, and it smelled a bit like mothballs. So of course the dog locked onto me and I got pulled aside. I was taking a day trip to Baltimore so I could get on the 737 MAX there and back for a college course presentation. Of course that was a little bit difficult to explain, especially since my flights had since been swapped over to the 737-700. But once they'd verified my information and gone through my bag they let me through.

Interesting to hear your less than pleasant experience with immigration. I’m wondering if this is a Canadian thing cuz my worst experience with immigration was at Toronto airport. They were so horrible, rude and miserable and I felt judged and scrutinised from all the questions they were asking me as if they were trying to find any reason to not let me into Canada. Made me feel like I was a criminal trying to enter illegally, lol. Had to give them so much information and it was a lengthy process. Wasn’t expecting a “welcome to Canada, hope you enjoy your stay” or anything but it was just so shocking. Also had a similar experience when boarding the plane that took me there. Never had that experience entering any other country.

Completely agreed. I’m not expecting a jolly Mountie to hold a conversation and give me a shot of Maple whiskey in a tin cup, just a little civility would be nice.

Getting into Canada has always been hard. Just check out Jim Cornette's experiences (he's banned from entry for a minor offense that took place 40 years before.

Regarding the question you were asked about whether you had permission to film on the plane and in the airport, different airlines have different policies and some have no policies at all on filming/photography.In the UK you are allowed to film and take photographs in a public place but most airports are privately owned and can legally challenge you about your filming /photography .On aircraft, apparently most of the airlines permit filming and photography but you are not allowed to film people or equipment on the aircraft. All of these policies are pretty loosely worded and open to different interpretation...I suppose it's always best to ask before you start filming or taking photographs.

I’d say it’s absolutely worth the time to do it! Take off work for a few days, travel around two seperate continents, and the food alone is probably worth it!

Montreal is great until general people and businesses realize you don't speak French so you're considered as less than. As of July 2021 all government buildings are only permitted to play French/Canadian music.

Recognised my home train station at the start! Hope your legs weren't utterly crushed on that CrossCountry to Stansted, they literally have so much worse legroom than Ryanair. Worse train company in the country.
