Watching this specific Noel's video, him travelling with his wife, Noel earned much more respect from my side! It's so touchy when we see a married couple with its members loving and supporting each other, staying together for very many years despite the adversities...And kudos to Noel's wife for raising their kids while Noel was busy flying those "russian roulette" or "luxury class" flights!

One flight with AA was enough to ensure I'd never make that mistake again. They were shockingly rude. First the male attendant in my section refused to put my bag in the overhead despite the fact that I had my arm in a sling. Another kindpassenger was kind enough to do it for me and also got it down when it was time to de-plane. Then a man went to the restroom and the female attendant told him in a tone dripping with condescension that the seatbelt light was on. He said he knew but he had to go. She told him "If we hit turbulence and you crack your skull open that's on you!", rolled her eyes, then proceeded to loudly talk crap about him to another passenger the entire time he was using the facilities. I dont care if she was having the worst day of her career, that was inexcusable. I vowed to never fly them again and 13 years later I still haven't.

Noel, It would be good to see more flights with your wife as fibromyalgia is so debilitating and is quite a common syndrome. It is good to see a person with fibromyalgia traveling and being outside of their comfort zone. Travels with your wife is a good role model of what is possible. Maybe more input on whether the travel caused flare-ups with the fibro would be good too. I noticed on the lunch in Spain vlog that your wife suffered from a flare-up halfway through the day. I remember hearing about a transatlantic flight in the 1980's that had a security threat, and most of the passengers transferred to other flights when they heard this, but a few didn't, so they took off with only 4 passengers. They told them to sit wherever they liked on the plane, including first class, to thank them for sticking with the flight.

I've flown the BA 787 from Toronto to Heathrow and back in 2012, I believe. It was crowded, the economy class seats have had padding removed, are closer together, and the seat pitch is useless. Interesting about the crew you flew with on American. When I flew from Sydney, Aus to LAX with them in 2016, the plane was about 1/3 full. Their service was fantastic, they would walk around every half hour or so to make sure everyone was comfortable and if they needed anything. They put all the extra snacks and drinks by each sets of toilets so that people could get whatever they liked (barring alcohol). They came around and helped people with their immigration cards if they had never been to the USA before. Everyone who I saw stepp off that flight looked really pleased with the experience When I flew from LAX to Auckland, NZ 3 1/2 months later, the plane was full. A couple of the flight attendants were relatively friendly, but the rest didn't want to be there and seemed to be frustrated that the plane was full. They ran out of food options for meals and had the same reaction to people asking about what was left when they had run out. Moral of the story, the emptier an AA flight is, the better the service!

In years past, BA always stood out; however, today, in my opinion, they're about the same as AA when it comes to service and food. That is exactly what I have noticed with United airlines, on every flight I have taken with them it has always been the same, the older cabin crew are nice and friendly but the younger ones do not look like they wanna be there at all and are quite rude, I flew United from Zurich to Dulles a couple of months ago in Polaris and as I was asked what I wanted with my Sundae I asked "What are the options?" and the cabin crew, this young woman, said and I quote, "*Sigh* It's on the menu, did you not read it?" in a very sarcastic tone and I was tempted to just be like Boi, you better watch your mouth, I'm payin your wages atm, but in the end, I just had butterscotch lol, also amazing video!

Another thing I’ve found on pretty much all US airlines is that the closer to the back of the plane you are sitting (in economy) the less choice you’ll get. I was on one flight that was only a couple of hours and we had to buy food, by the time the trolley got to me there was no food left, not even pringles!

I often fly British Airways and American transatlantic between Chicago and London Heathrow to connect on to Europe and my experience is almost always the same with each of them. American is usually fine overall with surprisingly good food, and British Airways has terrible food but is fine otherwise. To me, they're both decent but far from the best experience. EDIT: I should specify that American uses their 787-9 Dreamliners and British Airways uses their A380s for those flights. I usually sit on the upper deck on the A380 which is a much better experience than the lower deck. Also, on American I've only ever had the opposite experience with the food. They always have multiple meat options but you have to order a vegetarian meal in advance.

Well even though the delay must have been a bit frustrating, coming out of it with a profit is what I call a WIN! BA all the way - the US meal service was appalling- they need to have a mystery shopper on their flights because I’m sure that wasn’t a one off and it’s just unacceptable when people have saved their hard earned money to travel and to then be treated so poorly. Loved the heads up on the helicopter transfer - sounds like the deal you got may be comparable to the cost of a cab? Great views - oh and that sunset flare on the clouds was beautiful on your approach to JFK 👍

I took my first BA flights ever in October. A 777 BWI-LHR, the 787 return. The outbound gate agent at BWI asked me if I cared to upgrade to Premium Economy for $150 which I took. My gripe with the 777-200 seats is that all the connectivity was old, USB inoperative and located at your hip. Nothing stayed in. But the staff were very good and the meal and beverages exceeded my expectations. The return 787-8 at a window in coach was fine. At 6'3", I can only be so comfortable. One month prior, my wife was re-routed BWI-CLT-LHR on an American A330-300 due to strikes. She thought it was quite good.

American Airlines international service is trash! The old flight attendants are able to fly those trips due to seniority and know they have job security. This gives some a license to be miserable people to the passengers. Just a week ago, DFW-LHR, the flight attendants were old and miserable to the passengers. Did not even offer to help me and my spouse with snacks after our special dietary meals were not loaded onto the plane (another WTF moment), just a "they didn't make it onboard" British Airways on the return trip was phenomenal and well worth the cost.
