Magikarp Jump was wild. Over the span of like 2 or so years I actually ended up finishing it. Like, in terms of completing all leagues. Without spending any money on microtransactions at all you will not have enough currency by the end to have bought everything, unless you pay real money of course. the late game of this game is more repetetive than the base game itself, forcing you to replay the last league again and again, watching through the same 3 cutscenes for hours at a time, with the only thing ever changing being the magikarp you fish after completion lol

About Unite. Yes, Pokemon Unite has a more hardcore playerbase, it's not the microtransactions, those are easy to never even get close to paying for stuff. It's more of the balancing, especially in normal matches, high ranking players will get in a match with someone from low ranks and it stops being fun for the person who doesn't know the game that well/doesn't play too often
@argonptg9 ай бұрын
I can't even remember the amount of times i (ultra) got matchmaked with someone from either veteran or expert i don't remember, and they're always using the worst held items possible, whilst the other team is filled with ultra/master rank, or just ppl who know how to play the game Yet after all this issues, I still love unite and will play it until it gets shutdown
@batatafrita27839 ай бұрын
@@argonptg same, I love the game, but I can only play ranked and have fun when I reach master rank, other than that, I may end up fighting people with higher ranks or fight with people with lower ranks, which both sucks
@disguisedcat_7 ай бұрын
Very true. Idk if its just the player base being small or something but i sometimes struggle with rank matches because of the unfair matches
@marshtomp85 ай бұрын
Trust me. It becomes a lot less fun for the high ranking player who has to hyper carry the players who don't know what they are doing and make terrible mistakes that cost them the entire match in the last 2 minutes. Over and over and OVER again. Not that it's their fault. Unite's ranking and matchmaking system ruin the game on an absolute fundamental level that makes it maddening to play. And getting to masters only makes this worse actually.
@kyo43864 ай бұрын
Playing pokemon unite at "high" rank Master's 1400+ is just torture. Because Master rank itself feels more like the "normal" rank. Anyone that consistently plays ranked can achieve master rank and oh boy do I see some interesting players I get matched up with. Its even worse because you then have teammates who throw tantrums over the smallest things. Those said teammates also have the weakest mental ever and give up on 100% winnable games.

Pokemon Sleep genuinely helped fix my sleeping schedule and body clock. I have pretty bad depression and waking up each morning can be tough, but the game really incentives you to go to sleep at regular times and rewards you with rarer Pokémon n stuff. to put it into perspective, when I started using the app I used to sleep at 4am and wake up at 1pm the next day. A few months later I now go to sleep at 10:30pm and wake up at around 9am. Idk what people are doing to make their phones overheat, its never happened with me. I just set it to sleep, put the phone face-down which makes the screen black while keeping the app running and have it lay next to me on the mattress. Only time it gets slightly warm is if a pillow falls on it or something.

You're not missing out on anything with Unite. I played regularly for a little over a year before I just couldn't do it anymore. Microtransactions aren't even the issue. You can VERY easily get your held items to the optimal level. It's the SBMM, the way they have ranked setup, and the lack of consequences. Balance is also a big issue at times, but the 3 I named have been an issue since day 1. PokemonGO is about the constant never ending grind to get the perfect Pokemon for various situations, as far as the gameplay is concerned. The real draw though is the sense of community. I ran my local scene for about 3 years by organizing raids everyday and events for everyone to get together. Even the devs want this to be what the game is for. To bring people together IRL. If you don't at least have 1 other person to enjoy the game with and "compete" with, then it really isn't all that fun. I can't play anymore due to an accident, but I most certainly would if I could. Niantic is a headache to deal with, but it was worth it to get to enjoy catching Pokemon with my best friends while making new ones.

Well, I’m a huge Pokémon Go fan. The reasons that I stood with the game ever since 2016 is because of 3 simple reasons: 1) I’m also a huge Pokémon main series fan, I’ve played through every Pokémon region from Gen 5 and onward 2) I enjoy collecting and registering mons to my Pokédex. Whenever I look through my Pokémon collection, I have that sense of accomplishment and seeing how far I’ve come since I’ve started in 2016 3) Getting loads and loads of shinies and maybe even getting lucky enough to find some rare mons. It’s a simply just an adrenaline boost

IMO and experience, Pokemon Go’s big win is building a community or a network on top of a very enjoyable game. ive been a player since 2016 and never stopped up to this day and it made an avenue for me to meet different people from all walks of life.. even my core group of players now are composed of professionals (a lawyer, a university professor, a politician to name a few). The inclusion of live/real events really made this mobile game stood out among the rest, it isn’t a perfect game (and yes, i also despise the recent plethora of paid add ons) but it’s the company of friends and acquaintances that makes me continue playing

Something very tragic about pokemon duel was that they made it a LOT worse over its lifespan with the microtransactions. Back when the game first launched you could save up and buy pretty powerful figures and experiment with upgrades yourself, and it was a very forgiving game in terms of experimentation. Later on the power creep on newer figures got really rough, mix that with the fact that it became WAY harder to get the currencies needed for newer figures *AND* they increased the price on getting new figures too. Turning it into almost a necessity to spend real life money. It was scummy as hell and a complete turn around on the games design just to get more money. That was 100% a huge reason into why it died so fast.

I think the hump with getting into Pokémon Go is realising that the main gameplay loop IS catching Pokémon. You need to catch heaps to power up the ones you want to keep, catch to get stardust/candy for that, catch to keep getting Pokémon for the things you want to do. Best if you enjoy doing PvP (which is pretty garbage compared to main line games) or if you enjoy collecting them all. If you don’t enjoy catching lots of Pokémon it’s probably not the game for you… which niantic would make it more interesting to play more actively.

Pokemon Masters EX has one of my favorite things just hidden in plain sight. In the Johto Games, Pokemon Champion Lance has his Dragonite use Hyper Beam on an actual human, a Black Belt trainer class. In Masters EX, it was discovered that there's a Black Belt who talks about working in Mahogany town (where this took place) and that he's been afraid of dragon-types ever since. As a massive Pokemon fan who has basically all the Pokemon Apps still available for download.... it's a bit sad that I haven't played them all (still haven't started Masters EX). I remember I did have Pokemon Duel, it was real fun. Magikarp Jump is fun, and I use Pokemon Smile to help me brush my teeth b/c AuDHD makes that hard. And Pokemon Sleep is what I use every night, I've gotten quite a few shinies through it.
@clemente39668 ай бұрын
Fun fact: There's even a medal if you beat a blackbelt's mon with Hyper Beam. There are a few units that can use it now, but when the medal got added, only Lance and Dragonite could use it. And the medal is depicting a dragonite during the Beam at the head of a blackbelt. AND the name of the medal is Dragonite, use Hyper Beam! Honestly, you should start now. Because there's a log un bonus of 10 tickets, each giving a 10 pull on a banner with a lot of limited units (even the rarest ones) and the number of 5 stars is big enough so that you'd often get one. Plus the gems as another log in bonus for the 4.5 anniversary.

The idea that some people think your phone can catch fire if you sleep with it is utterly ridiculous. Its not possible unless your phone was defective in the manufacturing to begin with. If that is the case, you have MUCH bigger problems then worrying about if you should sleep with it.

One thing i quite like about pokemon go is hunting for shinnies, since there are events like community day and others where the chances of finding one is quite high. If you get a friend to play one of this events with you, you can in the end trade the shiny with an old pokemon (like from 2016 or before) and it guarantees that it will become a lucky pokemon (lucky pokemon is a whole can of worms, but the simple part is that it rerolls it's iv for a high value, maybe even perfect ivs). After that, you can send some of this pokemon to pokemon home, and from there, you can place them in a lot of mainline games, which in my opinion is a quite fun way for shiny farming.

Pokemon go is perfect for collecting. If you aren't a big collector at heart, if may not be for you. It's also a good distraction for a short phases of boredom. It gets you out of the house and you meet people. I've met SO MANY people through this game and I keep seeing some of them regularly through the weekly raid hours or other events. Meeting someone for an evening to trade some Pokemon is fun and there's also the PVP league if you like to play competitive. There are many goals you can give yourself, like, getting a max IV mon of each type, a living dex, collect all the shinys or some crazy goals like having a shiny legendary of each type and form. But you really need to do either pvp or raids to have a reason to max out and pursue stronger Pokemon. Because, if you want to power up your Pokemon, you need Stardust which means you need to catch a ton of Pokemon. So you just keep catching. getting more and getting better.

I still play Pokemon Go. I'm actually a daily, active, free-to-play player. I min-max on are there to continue playing this way. I see Pokemon go as a great way to bridge the gap to complete my dex and to get easy shinies for the mainline games.

As someone who just recently got back into Pokemon go, the fun for me at least is just having something to do when I’m on a walk or on a break at work. It’s not a game with a “goal” imo, it just enhances sorta mundane things. And the option to put your shinies or good Pokemon into a main line game is really cool too and is usually in the back of my mind when you fully evolve a charzard or something like that. And getting to hatch eggs which are pretty much loot boxes from walking a lot like I do at work is always a plus lol (Also Pikmin bloom is awesome. A lot more hands off and is pretty much a fun step tracker. If you walk a lot it’s fun to send your Pikmin on a expedition and coming back to to pull some Pikmin or plant some flowers)

Personally, around 2 years ago I had my Pokémon Go resurgence and I’ve been playing the game consistently ever since. For a while, I never really played avidly because it got pretty boring pretty quickly. What got me back into it was playing with my friends and getting really competitive with all the mons we could find! This past weekend there was an event in LA that we got to participate in and it was a great reminder of how much I love the game cause we got to meet a bunch of really cool people who also loved Pokémon! I’m the first to say that the game is far from perfect, but there’s something really fun and special about getting to play with people who are as into it as you are.

I think the part about Pokémon go that’s still appealing is the collection of it. Like I’ve been playing pikmin bloom pretty consistently for the past couple months cause it’s basically Pokémon go and the main thing that keeps me coming back is how many pikmin types there are to collect and i feel like that’d be the same for go

As someone who doesnt own any switch or consoles that support pokemon, i often find myself leaning towards pokemon go or pokemon unite.. I think these two are the best, pokemon go for collecting pokemon and giving you somewhat of a reason to go out more, and pokemon unite giving you that battle aspect. Even tho it isnt like the original games

I still have Duel downloaded on my Kindle Fire 7 that I haven't touched in like 8 years, never had the heart to delete it after all the hours I put into it. Never finished the campaign because I didn't really understand how it worked and therefore sucked at it, but it was still a hell of a lot of fun. Same with Pokémon Camp and Playhouse, just a set of dumb fun for 9 y/o me to mess around on but I got my mileage out of them all the same. Still half malding that Quest doesn't get updated outside of China, of all the Pokémon mobile games, it and Go had the most foreseeable longevity yet Quest just kinda had the plug pulled and died unceremoniously.

"some XXXL^2 Magikarp" You will put respect on the name of the Lord of the Lake. (In case you didn't know, it is a thing in Platinum where you can find in the Resort Area some water in which there's a Magikarp of every level, from 1 to 100 included, the level 100 one being the Lord of the Lake.)

The main reason I play Pokémon GO still is because the game has an absolutely insane shiny rate of 1/500 *as it's standard rate,* meaning it can go lower during events like GO Fest and speaking of the events, they are on another level, sometimes adding shiny mythical Pokémon that you can then transfer to the mainline games.
@HyperfixationWizard9 ай бұрын
Basically, imagine seeing a shiny Fennekin in an ultra ball, and it's not hacked in. If you told me that back in the X and Y days, I would not believe you, yet here I am with one I got while casually walking across my college campus trying to get to the cafeteria.

I’ve played Pokemon Go since it’s launch in 2016! I did have some breaks in 2017-2018 though. On top of catchin em all, my personal dumb quest is to gild gym badges, I’m currently at 400+ unique gyms! PoGo has helped me a lot with my anxiety. The best thing about it to me is the community (my small-ish city in Finland has a super active player base). I’ve met and befriended some really cool & diverse people I would have never met without playing PoGo. Also the fact that it makes me go out a lot is a huge plus 😁

It's worth noting, and a LOT of people miss this, that being able to buy item enhancers in Pokemon Unite with real money wasn't intended. At launch, Item Enhancers were locked to only being buyable with the in-game currency (you can see it at 18:21, where every item except Item Enhancers has a price in both coupons and gems). The problem was that when you try to use an item you have zero of, a menu pops up saying "would you like to buy more?" People noticed pretty quickly that they forgot to remove the "buy with gems" option from that menu. So they were stuck in a state where they'd have give back a lot of money if they actually fixed the bug. Instead, they just added a New Player reward where everyone who starts playing gets 300 free Item Enhancers (enough to max out a full loadout of three items, so new players aren't gimped).

10:42 The rabbit hole goes deep, once you get into the end game or when certain events pop up this game has the potential to become a stressful nightmare. Also the gacha mechanic is what makes you bankrupt in this game & it's notoriously unfriendly towards new players with how many limited time run event pokemon have come and gone having only showed up once or twice over the course of 3 years.

For pokemon sleep it tells you in the app that you need to turn your phone upside down so the display turns off and you're supposed to keep it plugged in. this is to avoid any issues with your phone overheating, battery drain, and it dying. you also dont keep it next to you on the pillow. you're supposed to keep it near you on you BED as it likely tracks your breathing and movement and pillows wont allow for that. personally pokemon sleep has been helpful for me as someone who constantly struggles with sleep. it's actually gotten me to sleep at decent times and has been helpful in tracking when i sleep talk/walk. it's less of a game and more of a help app with a pokemon theme

As a masters ex player I am a bit sad it's still not very well received / widely accepted by the mainstream. It brings back trainers from past gens and allows interactions between trainers who never meet before and bring new character development for all of them. And the music is a banger. The gameplay is pretty good. And there's a new Photo mode now where you can take photos of your favourite trainers, it's awesome!

Pokémon Masters is definitely one of the best apps for long time fans. They’ll have events that call back to older mainline games, you get to see characters that never interact in canon meet for the first time, and they do two anniversaries with free gifts every year! Some fun interactions I remember: 1. Gladion and Lisa become friends over their shared love of dramatic posing 2. Petrel reminds his murkrow to not mess up their plan like he did in Gold and Silver 3. WE GET TO SEE RED TALK FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER There are so much more fun little experiences, it is great to
