Glad I'm not the only person who loves some nasty sludge metal. Crowbar and Goatwhore are some of my FAVORITES, though the latter is blackened death sludge, though TBH Crowbar is kinda crossover thrash and sludge. Their guitar tones are always some of the most doomy, flithy nasty shit, and I'm here for it. As someone who also loves a lot of Swedish Death Metal and really aggressive, pissed the fuck off HM-2 hardcore, deathcore, beatdown, etc... HAIL.

What's better than this... guys bein' dudes. I have the RG100ES, if you don't have the footswitch you have to turn one channels gain and volume down and the other up to get the channel you want. It runs both channels at once without the footswitch, the only way to get them to run independently is with the footswitch. When the led's are working it will show green for the clean channel, red for the dirty channel, and then both lights will be on when both channels are engaged. Pretty weird badass amp, I love it, thank you for reviewing the SNK one as well!

The power switch is a polarity function. The treble knob pulls out for "saturation" you loose volume on channel 2 but get more saturation and sustain. Channel 1 is a clean channel. The channels are both active at all times without the footswitch. The stock footswitch functions ch.1/2 and both options on a 2 button unit. The bass is focused @ 50hz with +16db @ noon position. Mids focused @ 600hz @ +10db at noon Treble focused @1khz @+16 @ noon Presence focused 8-10khz with a wide Q The amp really shines @8ohm as it is able to breathe a bit more than 4ohm and has more omph than 16ohm.

I paid $250 from GC for my 112SC and it came with a Rola Celestion G12-80 speaker, probably worth as much as the amp, haha. I found my RG80-PH on FB Market for the same price. They're out there.

I have a Randall RG80es, got it from the original owner who bought it, right around the same time that I was born. It was built and inspected, near my birthday in 1987 and my buddy, Ed, bought it in 1988. Half Stack with a straight cab and it had like Jaguar speakers or something in it but they got damaged and then, I lost them in a house fire and have some Jensens in there, now. I've got the Head, torn down for a rebuild, currently. It was sold to me and it had that horrible carpet upholstery on it and was salt-n-pepper color from 14 years of cats, sleeping on it and scratching it. I got it all for $100 and an ounce of cheap weed (actually not bad stuff but $90 oz no seeds way before it was legal in MI), so I wasn't mad about it. I coincidentally, had a metal zone, that I got in HS from a trade. It was a good combo but by the time I really got it, the old metal zone was breaking and I didn't get another for several years (I don't have any, MZs anymore, pedals are cool but I'll just use the damn computer plugins, I paid for lol). Pretty cool amp but it was loud - needs a new transformer, recap, and I want to figure out, how to do whatever the hell that add-on, that plugs into the back of the amp and the speaker cab and does something about the treble and tone loss, that happens when you engage the 'extra sustain" switch. At this point, it's a mythical device that I used to see, in sold Reverb listings from 10 years ago. I messaged a half dozen people, trying to figure out, wth, that device does and if someone had a picture of the internals of it. No luck. I can't even remember what it's called....wait, Randall XP-3 Block Booster.... people were looking for it in 2006 with barely any luck. I've only seen 2 for sale since 2006. It's a device that goes between the speaker output of the amp and the input on the speaker cab. There's no info, online, about how it works but it does. I just want to find one and reverse engineer it! Someone out there has to have one....

I can’t speak for Taylor, but for me personally, I don’t care much for Pantera because most of their songs are too bluesy for me. When I’m listening to metal, I want the most extreme sounds ever conceived by human beings. Pantera has a few heavy songs that can get in the ballpark (Strength Beyond Strength, Domination, The Great Southern Trendkill), but most of their songs just meander slowly in my opinion. Alternatively, I also love very beautiful sounding metal. Sure, Pantera has a few moments where they can sound kinda pretty (Floods), but they never quite reach the intensity in that direction that I look for, either. I’m not gonna pretend that Pantera isn’t a legendary metal band that influenced countless other bands, because they absolutely are. However, I’m also not going to pretend to enjoy their music solely because of their legacy. I will, however, let people enjoy Pantera while I listen to bands that suit my tastes.

The market for dime gear is so extremely inflated right now, and its never coming down. That being said old randalls are still killer amps, the rg100es XP series is my favorite, it has a switch on the face that cuts volume loss unlike the original 100es when you pull the treble knob, and it give you an extra boost. Xp = xtra power. Also if you dont have a footswitch yes both channels will be on but you can take a paper clip, bend it like a horseshoe and put one point in the top left and bottom left holes of the 6 pin switch slot. That will cut channel bleed and give you control over the gain channel. The fs5 footswitches for these things are rare and stupid expensive. But aftermarkets are available and are cheap/work. You really need jaguar cabs to get the most out of these amps as well.

The funny thing is that all those amplifiers in the background, especially the ENGL ..and the 5150 well that Randall isn’t even a tadpole in the same ocean as thatbad azzz ENGL… I mean, honestly why would anyone ever need to play out of anything more than an ENGL savage or fireball? There is no better amp. Hands-down, so everyone just buy ENGL no matter what style of metal you play. It’s all you will ever need. Also, the dude playing that red guitar , well his guitar is better than any solar guitar ever produced ..solar just a shit company. it’s basically a used up washbourne with solar stamped on it. Solar Junk guitars dude. You’re lucky if you get a good one the only good ones I’ve saw is if Ola sends it to you personally because they’re quality inspections are crap. Believe me don’t risk sending $1200 to a foreign country and then when you’re not satisfied, good luck getting your money back it’s not like walking in Guitar Center in just exchanging it for another guitar on the spot that will never happen with solar.

Just get a supercrush and toss a 10 band in the loop. No one wants to spend that kind of money on a used solid state amp

I want to see an HM-2 or Eyemaster replace that Metal Zone... DU EET. I wanna hear how disgustung this amp can sound. I wanna make Christians beg for mercy and bray and bleat for their god to save them. Use it the same way - gain at 0, as a boost - but if it is an actual HM-2, you have to dime the EQ. You HAVE TO.
