Note: someone pointed out to me that the isolated section isn't isolated. My bad, it's an error in the edit. My apologies... I can't fix it now as I'm away from home. Also, there seemed to be some confusion about this series. The whole point of this series is that the song and all the instruments EXCEPT the guitar amp tones remain exactly the same. So the guitar parts are reamped through the amps but the rest of the song remains the same. That's the whole point of this entire series. It's 'one song'.... Cheers! Jon

Crazy how when these things are dialed in, they all sound very close to each other. Sounds great as always!
@viniciusbertucci Жыл бұрын
True, I've been noticing that with a lot of amps... Under the same cab (and speaker), most amps sound very close to each other and can even sound same-y if you dial them in. I think an EQ could be one of the best tone investiments. Empress just released one of the most powerful parametric EQs ever and I want to check out. EQs are awesome for tone chasing.

It’s my favorite piece of gear. Dark Terror with the push-pull comp cut Full-Drive 2 and a Fromel Shape in the EQ through a 6505 4x12 with V30’s. Loved every single tone you got out of this. Keep it up!

Definitely getting another one of these! I just love Orange amps, so unique and I find it fun to try to pull a bunch a different tones that aren't stoner/doom. Which of course it can do but that's so easy.

Absolutely love the design of this amp. Super simple control nobs. Maybe not the most versatile but with an amp like this you certainly know why you are buying it and it does it really well. 7 Watt might not sound like a lot but it can still be PLENTY of noise.

@4:43 - dope riff, but the idea of that being a meshuggah style riff is hilarious

It doesn't say it's a Meshuggah-style riff. It's the Ibanez Meshuggah signature 8-string guitar.

I own the dark terror and it’s soo flexible! You can get such a good pedal platform clean and then turn the gain up for amazing pushed orange gain! 😊 A bit of a shame that there’s only one channel but I use it as a studio amp so not a problem here 👍
@FranciscoYosores Жыл бұрын
@timhopkins3810 do you have any experience with the Micro Dark? If you have, I wanna know how it compares. I have the Micro and I'm hoping that its a decent alternative. I'm asking because I can't seem to get a sound that I'm crazy about from the Micro. I know it's no tube amp, but I'm still hopeful.
@timhopkins3810 Жыл бұрын
@@FranciscoYosores so no direct experience with the micro dark but I did have the terror stamp for a little while which I think is the same thing but with 2 volume settings and 20 watts instead of 15 - some people think the stamp is based on the micro terror because they’re the same colour but I don’t think that’s correct. The dark terror is a very similar preamp and tone knob settings but the addition of the valves in the power amp give it a much bigger roar. It’s very similar but just beefed up in every way. Hope that helps! 👍

@@timhopkins3810 Yeah, I kinda get this sense listening to reviews...That's why I'm looking into a Speaker Cranker to get this kind of feel to it. I'm glad to hear my gut feeling is in the right direction. Thanks a lot for sharing your insight!

@@FranciscoYosores have experience with micro dark at first I didn’t like because of lack of eq and fuzziness plus I’m using a hss strat but now I’m using 10 eq, I max out the the 2k and 4k 8k range give it a bit of bass with the 125 and 250 keep 5 and 1k at 0 I’m also using ts9 and egnater tweaker I think it sounds great cranked but unfortunately It gets to loud for my tastes, unless you get a passive volume box sort of like master volume, I suggest getting a Guptech presence and resonance eq and eq pedal and boost

I’m quite jelous of that 1-pickup white ltd. I recently bought the newly released ec-201 with the same config in satin black, I have this same amp as well. 😁 Can 100% verify that the tones are great for the value and it is incredibly versitile. great pedal platform from clean, although I prefer dialing in a fairly gritty crunch tone and then layering boosts and effects from there. it doesn’t sound generic which is something I like, it has character for such a little thing.

cool vid, will have to rewatch as i was distracted. I have the Micro Terror. I bought it new in NZ, and then thru a different order of gear with Thomann bought the matched Orange speaker. Fuck me it's loud !!! Only wish is that it'd be nice if it had reverb. I also plugged my Micro Terror into my NOS (new old stock) H&K CC212 that i bought a couple of years ago and man its fucking loud on that too !! The NZ shop had the Dark Terror in stock, but in a different part of NZ so i thought, meh i'll buy thi one. Hindsight ? Should've bought both. The cleans on the Micro Terror are good to "baseline" guitars as it has no effects, no nothing except the one constant that is the Micro Terror. cheers from NZ Ptr

I love your videos, but I’ve grown to learn that your videos are not a “clear” reference of how the amp sounds like, so I wouldn’t recommend taking buying decisions based on your videos….. they are more like look at what these amps can do if you really really and I mean really what you are doing when recording and double tracking guitars and post processing and stuff….. they are more like “check the potential on this amp” more than “check this amp out of the box” ….. the riff and song are sick and you give a goal to strive for
