You are finding so much! I have a school classmate who has been metal detecting in the Fredericksburg Va. area for the past 40 years and started out with his dad in the White oak, Stafford Va. Area. Now they have and old school House in White Oak Va. It is known as White Oak museum and Research Center. Just an incredible museum of Union encampments from the Fredericksburg campaign. It looks like you are on your way to having your own Museum . Just a pleasure to watch your video's. Thanks again Dave

Hey Beau, the un-punched Borman fuses... Wouldn't those shells be a little on the dangerous side being they are basically dropped and un-fired? Just curious! Killer finds and simply loved the pre-cleaning beating! You got a nice haul of CS artillery there my friend!

Really interesting as always. I'm guessing maybe these were supplies captured by the Union and dumped in the river? As for Black Powder being dangerous...it is! I'm not sure how long it's chemical composition would remain viable after all these years, especially the ones which were wet inside, but back in those days powder got wet fairly frequently, and when the sun came back out, they'd spread it out on canvas or boards and dry it out. Once dried it was ready to go boom again!

We do indeed find lots of float copper and copper Native American artifacts. I found some copper arrow/spear heads last year. Also some scrapers, awls, needles all made from copper. A local collector buys anything we find. I sold 5 small pieces last year for $300.

Incredible finds. You didn't film finding them? You really live in an area where there was a lot of Civil War fighting. What state did you find these in? They sure made a lot of dud shells. Just think how many more would have gotten killed if they all went off. When they light the ones with the fuse in the end, did they light the fuse in the end first, then shoot the shell. Then, perhaps when the shell landed the fuse went out when it got flatened?
