Those new fangled mats have one drawback worth considering: their catches have very little surface area in which to HOLD and TRAP concentrates and gold. They do mix the cons well but I'm certain lots of fine gold (50 mesh and smaller) are lost. Looks to me 95 o/I of the mat is a slick plate

I don't have too much problem with small gold here, to be honest. Even in my test pans, there's almost no too little flour gold! That the only reason I love these mats at this spot!

Yes, I understand... But eventually you will come to know that these new fangled mats are mostly (80 o/o) empty, flat space that moves but doesn't catch gold. While you THINK you are catching "small" gold, you are undoubtedly losing much more . Even a blind squirrel finds a nut it two. When you get serious you'll get a deep, corrugated may with proper Hungarian riffles. The only advantage I can see with your mat is that it's easily cleaned... Which is it's major drawback. Good luck!

That cantaloupe looked like a perfect melon, hard to find a good melon like that, maybe a good thing you sacrificed that piece to the gold gods, give golden melon & get golden nuggets in return.
