Bongo bidder defo got the biggest dose of auction fever I've seen! Loved the fireworks, but we are in Liverpool comment, not sure the scousers will appreciate it tho 🤣. Congrats on the 20k and the Astra looks a decent motor.

Hmm. I buy at collectables auctions and bids go up in increments, for example once the bid goes above £500 it's £50 a bid. So if someone bids £600 even if you shouted £1000!!! (or more commonly sent in an email/postal bid) it would be yours for £650 unless the next bidder went higher. Perhaps this chap thought he was doing something like that. Very odd business all round.

Bongo had over a grands worth of camper conversion equipment in it to put another van and theres about 500 scrap in the bongo

That bongo buyer is the real owner I bet you a £100 pound he owns it from the start,, Some people use them tactics in auctions all over the place,, Mercedes Vitos we’re far to expensive high mileage and needing paint work and few dents on them,, love watching when it’s a different auctions to see what kinda stock and price’s etc etc etc etc ,, Good man Lee god bless,,

@MrAlec201178 .....what i didnt understand about Glasgow auctions in the 90s was they were paying more than what the retail price would be............i assumed it was a way of laundering money as it was kinda strange..............over a few weeks id travelled from Dundee to buy a van and the ones i was looking at were approx 4k retail but the hammer price was 5k or more - crazy..........i ended up getting a newish one privately with low mileage,immaculate,1 owner for 2.5k and eventually sold it after 4 yrs use for 2k.......the funny thing is its still on the road around the corner and probably still worth at least 2k.....i fee like buying it back 20 yrs later LOL.

10 previous owners on the Peugeot gave me a laugh and made me think of my old Scirocco back in the day.... 16 previous owners, plus at least 3 lads I knew who'd owned it and never had a logbook 🤣 Did love the last Saab 9-5's, I can't stand Insignias, but I delivered a few 9-5's when they were new, I didn't want to like them, but they were such a nice place to be. The guy jumping the bid on the Bongo.... well, people like that are why you have a bar in you auction room!

Auction prices are crazy nowadays, only about 7 yrs ago you could get a 10 yr old car, full mot for about £600 from Cannock car auctions

Had one of those Fabia estates and it was very economical and rock solid. Interior wise quite basic and scratchy plastic but practical and great as a small estate.

Bought a few out of Tuebrook auctions in the 90s Lee . They used to sell liverpool council vehicles and British Gas, good old days . Mr King ran it them days , bought a nice police F reg Cavalier with conrod through the block out of there. One of the local bobbies to me in Heswall blew it up and I got the nod when it was going through. Had it as a family car for good few years ,great to see its still there up the ramp of cobbles .

We owned a 2010 NG 9-5 in the same colour, it is a larger insignia BUT it uses saab software for vechicle diagnostics which was different to vauxhall protocol. Also the steering rack is a saab item, front screens are rare, drivers heated seat pads break for fun. Fantastic cruiser/ mile muncher but keeping it on the road is getting harder and harder.

Never actually seen an NG 9-5 in the 'flesh', but I've always quite liked the look of them. I'd certainly prefer it over the BMW 5 Series and Audi A6 equivalents, mainly because it's just so elegant and I like having things that nobody else has got.

Used to send cars to that auction if we really couldn't sell it 😂 stopped using them asva bit of nightmare to deal with. In general I wouldn't touch a car from Liverpool

Camper van interiors, fridges, cookers, heaters etc are not cheap, odd bid all the same. MOT checker on that Bongo had main failures for suspension mounts all round and the 2 panels. Strange thing is that it failed on the front suspension mounts in Jan 22 but must have had them repaired as it passed 10 days later.

Car auction fees need to be more reasonable imo, the one I go to start from a quite high starting price and before bids comes in, you are past cap clean and most cars are no where near cap clean. I think the cars that come from dealers, they need to pay a certain commission if sold to the auction centres as I know dealers make a lot from part exchanges. It may make their fees come down.

Auction fees are designed to keep it a closed shop. Joe Public looking for a bargain get hit with a big fee, regular trade buyers pay hardly anything

not far from Hull. brid motor auction is well known for being dealer head ache auction all the dealers from hull and easr yorkshire send the cars there they cant fix. sayong that most of the cowboys in the area are clueless but lots of EU my friend is a mechanic everyones mate is a mechanic. being one myself i always put in adverts any inspection welcome by aproved mechanic like aa or rac funny they never do.

Curious why you said the Skoda Fabia wouldn't be for you ? Got an 08 Fabia Estate 1.4 tdi myself ; great little car , cheap to run and surprisingly roomy inside. Got a 1.8 metre trellis in it this week , admittedly balanced on the wife's head in the passenger seat , but saved the delivery costs ! Been 4 up to Ireland from Southern England , just so practical .

Not on a practical front or dislike of the car, I like the fabia. The reason I said it was I buy Vehicles upto 2k mark (with the odd exception). With 34k on it I was expecting it to do more than that. Was very cheap nice looking car to be fair

I'm guessing the process would be for me to have a look on their online catalogue now, check out any I like the look of and then go down on the day to bid? You know your market and limits so that was the one. I would have had a punt at that Freelander 2, if it was running ok and the MOT hx was sound. Popular useful things a country mile ahead of the FRL1

I'm guessing the Bongo buyer wanted it for the interior conversion, then sell the rest for parts. I have a Bongo, much better than this one thankfully. I've done my own simple functional conversion but would consider buying a scrapper for a good interior which might have cost up to 3K back in the day.
