Mat, that post under the hood is ONLY connected to the starter and the second battery, and can be isolated from that battery by the pyrofuse and the batteries are also seperated by a contactor, so putting power to it at those posts will only power the starter, and the first battery will (after the accident) only supply power to the vehicle electronics. So you would need to jump it at both the main battery AND the posts under the hood simultaneously. Also, I remember the W12 being fairly robust mechanically, not like a 1.4TSI, were the rods probably bend if you sneeze too hard, so I would say it's most likely fine, and the water is in the bottom, but the top of the intercooler goes to the engine, and the bottom only goes to the turbo, so it's highly unlikely that it sucked up any water.

Might also be the case with some blown fuses in the main fuse-box.. it's worth a check for all fuses and the control units that are seating on floorboard beneath the seats, if those have the board flooded or water can cause oxidization and they might cause car not start.

Quick way to check if an engine is seized or hydrolocked, put an amp clamp on the negative lead, if its drawing more than 200amps the starter is trying to turn the engine over.

I've found that when the engine is seized and the starter engages that the car will actually shake a bit from the force of the starter hitting an engine that won't budge. If you aren't feeling that movement then I would think it's another issue other than a frozen engine. Great job with your videos!

If the engine has sucked up water but hasn’t bent anything, if you remove the spark plugs and turn the engine over it will empty the cylinders of anything that is in there, once you’ve done that if you put the spark plugs back in it should fire up.

Definitely buy it. If the intercooler looks like a radiator then it is an air to air heat exchanger and there would be no water in it. Perhaps the water came from somewhere else or it isn’t an intercooler you are looking at. Re the sunroof, if it is the opening panel that is sitting up it ought to be reparable. If the structure was bent enough to change the fit of the roof glass, then wouldn’t the door fit, particularly drivers door be out too round the window frame and the door not open and close properly. My hunch would be the sunroof mechanism jumped due to the crash or it was open at the crash and someone has tried to force it shut.

Hey Matt also check if the car has Adaptive cruise control (ACC) If so the 2 radars are located on the front left and right area of the bar. Right where that one is damaged If it does it will need a new radar and full calibration, quite expensive Add that to your budget calculations

I'd definitely walk away from that one. The slam panel was obliterated right up to the chassis leg combined with the wheel impact. I think this vehicle has mounted something and potentially twisted the chassis. The roof misalignment is not a closure issue. These are my options and are open to interpretation and I thank you for providing such great content that evokes such an interest in what you do that I feel the want to voice said opinions. Bentley Bentayga only has one battery and they are all under the drivers floor mat. Bentley Continental 1st and 2nd generation have 2 batteries Both in the boot. You would have to try turn the engine by hand to see if it’s seized which is very difficult because there is very little access or remove the spark plugs or air intake pipe to check for water. With the sunroof it’s possible it needs a basic settings run for it to operate. When these cars lose power all the systems require an adaption or a basic setting to be run.

I'm missing the part about the intercooler. The intercooler has radiator flood in it that cycles to the turbo cooling the turbo, so what if water gets sucked up, it's cycling water anyway. That's what it was designed for.

I would say you should buy it. With a car like that with a lot of electronics and a big engine you will need a lot of power to start it. But you could locate the starter motor or starter relay fuse and start it from there ( while still sending a lot of power to the battery) Apart from that, it could just be the crash sensor that is cutting the power that allows the car to start.

The damage seems to go at and angle from driver side front in a diagonal across the windscreen and has possibly twisted or shocked the sunroof, as the cracks on the windscreen stop behind the interior mirror. You've hands for everything........its a challenge, go for it !!!!!!

However, there are lots of potential issues and, even with the VW parts bin, I can only see the bills mounting (although, at £80k+ you have a good margin to play with). @Mat Armstrong It’s worth taking the risk, yeah the pistons might have water in them but it won’t go beyond a bent or a broken connecting rod, that’s why the engine is refusing to crank. That would be cheap to change. If the engine was cranking I would have recommended taking out the plugs and cranking the engine in other to have water flushed out of the system. Really it’s worth the risk

I'd say that glass roof not seating properly would be a worry. If the inside of the car smells, then has said roof been leaking from the rain? Glass doesn't bend or warp like metal, so I'd bet it's the frame that it sits in is damaged, maybe from the crash? Now is that frame just welded in by a robot at the factory or an integral part if the roof? Certainly when I was into car manufacturing the roof was pressed out with a gaping hole in it and the glass roof, frame etc put on a robotic arm, travelled through the ( non existent, later fitted) front window, then bolted/ welded/ pop riveted in. So if it can be put in like that, it can be removed?

The car has had an impact, bags have gone off and pyro fuse would have blown stopping engine so no opportunity for engine to induct water. It’s probably been lying outside for some time and water had collected in the oil cooler shroud. I’d go for it!

Having worked on these bentayga's, it looks worse than what it is. The fender and intercooler, along with the crash bar, are all replacable. The dashbord is not a bad job just looks a nightmare to change but it really isn't. The head ache will be trying to find one in teh same spec. The non start is down to be involved in a crash. I don’t believe there is any damage to the engine as such. Will need Elsapro to reset some modules and you should be good to go. As for the car leaning to one side they suspension sits on the airbags' independent system. That will need investigating as to why it has collapsed to one-side.

Cream interior is good as long as you don't transport children or dogs ! I had ivory white leather in a brand new BMW M3 I bought in 1996,. Ran that car for 98000 miles over 6 years and it was pretty much as clean as the day I bought before it went to its new owner.

My B9 Allroad and other Audi models in the US require the brake pedal to be pressed to start the vehicle. So press brake pedal and push the start button is how VAG cars are setup over here. On another note I was just looking at cars on copart at my local Coparts location minutes before opening KZbin to see this video right on my feed. Looking at the wrecked cars I’m turned off but your content is very inspiring.

Fairly new to your channel Mat, but I’ve overdosed in watching your videos. I love your can do attitude and dedication to get the job finished even if you are there till the early hours and then up the very next morning to get a tune or go to a dealership. Depends on your intention with it, if you're gonna keep it as a daily car and if the sun roof is just faulty and the A pillars aren't bent... plus the cost of buying suspension parts and repairing the bent chassis rail... it's a huge risk, IF you have the space and money for it I'd go for it. You seem to be able to fix some crazy crashed cars so this one should be relatively simple.

Just look at the windshield. It's cracked in the corners. The sunroof is twisted also. So the roof is twisted.
