Hey there. I've seen a recent trend in the Security Stronghold. I'm going down there to train on flesh crawlers as im not too high of a combat level yet. Anyway, I hopped to about half a dozen different worlds and each time I logged in there was always 2 players roughly level 70 in full adamant armor with rune scimitars. I would normally think players of that combat level would have some better gear on but that's not an indicator of anything. They also seem to stand in the same spots letting the natural agro target them with occasionally walking onto a recently killed mob, only to return to the previous spot immediately Just find it sus that there are multiple duos, in multiple worlds all wearing the exact same kit, farming the exact same monsters. Maybe i'm overthinking it but you seem to be the resident expert on these types of things.

There's also bots around the GE that are looting bots. They pick up when people drop trash but also anytime there's a drop party. I've seen them in almost every world. It's a lvl 3 with nothing and they stay logged in for days at a time. I've reported one for 1 week+ and they take so long to get banned. I've seen them pick up mills in loot from drop parties. Would be nice to point this out to Jagex and see if they do anything about spotting these bots outside of looking at 600+ reports...

It's a careful balancing act tbh. Bots keep mats in the market, prices are low and people are able to buy stuff. At the same time if bots are publicly noticed and Jagex is aware they are noticed they cash in and ban the entire farm and it looks like they've done their job without taking a risk of accidentally banning someone wrongfully. Remember Runeacapes history. They once claimed they never banned anyone wrongfully. The key word is never. Insane bold statement that was 100% wrong and a massive PR nightmare. They've gotta be cautious but also put on the public image of having an amazing top of the line bot detection system. I do believe them when they say they ban thousands of accounts a day. Because of the bots we see imagine the amount of bots we dont see that dont make it past the early game. People have made botting a full time job and are able to manage hundreds of accounts. Osrs team is like what? 10 people? Theres no way they'll ever ever keep up. The numbers are too huge.

Am i the only one interested to see how adding fatigue back into the game would work/effect bots? Required to sleep to gain more xp and doing a non bot-able captcha something or other. With a boon to actual players too: buffs or something from sleeping in PoH beds and better the higher the tier.

Games have tried this before and players hate it. It should work well in theory but people just end up complaining about having to stop what they are doing to do a random chore. Bots won't complain and will just have a script that does what needs to be done. You also can't make an unbottable captcha because of captcha solving services that allow you to pay humans pennies to complete captchas for your bot. If you make an account so crippled that it literally cannot be played unless it's logged off for 8 hours, the bot farm will just have 2 or 3 accounts per client and have them rotate at certain time slots on VPNs that line them up with the appropriate time zone to make them harder to detect. In general anything you do to make life harder for a bot will just have a way worse impact on actual players, because bots don't care how many hoops they need to jump through to get a task done, but players do. The only way to really combat bots is to have better bot detection or invest more into moderators that can manually find and remove the bots.

Hey SirPugger I wanted to ask about a bot that I think would be pretty easy to make and I think would be pretty impossible to track. The bot in question would be a iron mining bot and in particular the guild mining area. So the way I would assume the bot would work would to have each pixel in the hitbox of the ore be assigned a number. then have a random number generator assign which number to pick so as to not be clicking on the same pixel every time. Then have a random number say 1-3 to be how many seconds the bot would wait to mine the next of the three ores. All this to in a way seem human. And the cherry on top only spend say 3 to 4 hours a day at different times during different days doing just this. My question to you is how would jagex ever be able to detect this?

Surely there's a better way to stop the zulrah bot farms? I suggest changing the roation zulrah does when you fight it to make it hard for botters to constantly discover and update their code. It's so easy to do zulrah nowadays as you know what form zulrah is going to take before the boss even changes as you can simply learn the rotations. If a mod updated the boss and randomized it then it would solve the issue. Would be harder for ironmen and more risky for HC ironmen, but at least it would solve a bot problem.

Hey love the videos! Could you look into the lms bots. I have recently been grinding lms for the collection log. Around 2-3 weeks ago all the bots were super easy to kill and you could just switch styles every attack. Recently, it seems like all the bots have new fighting scripts. They switch prayers immediately but most importantly they move around like crazy making it difficult to fight them. Late game fights in LMS are sometimes only bots fighting each other, they are probably winning lots of money. Some ways to check if accounts are bots is that they drop their dragon daggers early on and whip spec you when they melee you. You can also do things like mage them while holding a dragon dagger and they will pray melee. When the lms start counter starts they are holding a whip in melee gear. Also they are easy to spot due to their names and combat level. They are usually 42-48 combat and their names are in a pattern of 2 numbers a word and 4 numbers. For example 34 Lucky 2343. Thanks!

And i forget the DNA server. Most bots get banned cus they al have the same stat layout or train in a certian order. The DNA server stores the bot stats lvl and make sure they randomized between each other until they al hit 99 and they also prevent to be in the same place as much as possible but sometimes form teams with prescripted conves. Flutter cluster is a deep learning AI but it fails so badly if it encounters deeplearning AI bots. They tend to randomize outfits aswell. I mean alot of same outfit might leave a pattern too.

The reason most bots that do skilling like agility in this example is because they are setup to do multiple different skills off of the same bot along with breaks so they will do one task then the other and back to the first in some cases to prevent bot detection just like how real players don't do the same thing all day every days for the most part and having it scripted to regear after each task adds a chance for the bot to break midway through and that obviously cuts into profit. Just like how alot will use a quest line bot and not just 1 quest at a time.

Yesterday I started noticing something really strange at the grand exchanged in world 302. For unknown reasons people were dropping two separate piles of 10 molten glass at a time. I’m not sure if it’s bots dropping them but it happened for the about eight hours I was standing at the G.E flipping

Those are legit players. That happens when people cast the molten glass make spell. If you do it at max efficiency some of the molten glass you make ends up on the ground because your inventory is full, but it’s less efficient to pick them up so you’re supposed to leave it on the ground and keep casting.

@@delision8265 ahhh I see. Still strange tho it was no stop. I tried picking it up a few times but others were standing there doing the same. People could’ve easily made some money off picking it up because they stood there in the same spot doing it for over eight hours

@@ImDrProctor Yeah you can make like 100-200k/hr just picking up the glass from someone casting the spell, but they make like 800-900k/hr profit casting it at max efficiency. They always could be bots, but tons of people do this as legit players as well (myself included).

Maybe you could of got the agility bots to accidentally miss click and skull, probably what happened in the non high risk worlds.

Pugger, what's your view on whether a pk'er should keep the loot they get from bots? It seems like someone could make a scam where they just kill bots to get their loot instead of muleing, it barely adds any steps to the process

look up some guides of the best starting quests, that'll get you some good chunk of easy xp and some cash. there's quite a few guides, just google or search reddit for them that usually link to a google doc. then it's just levelling up skills until you can do other quests that have rewards that make your account more efficient. it really depends what kind of account you're wanting to make, whether it's a niche one, a pking pure, or max account. osrs wiki is also really good too.
