The best piece of advise I received when I first moved to a new city from my home town was “give it three years” then decide if you want to move somewhere else. It mentally gave me a way out but I also didn’t feel that panic feeling of what am I doing or where am I going.

hello as someone born and raised in New Jersey (now lives in Brooklyn for the past 2 years)! this “blue law” mentioned is certainly not a thing statewide. It has to be specific to that city or county. My family and I have done lots of shopping on sundays for “non-essential” items in my 26 years with no problem lol. It’s actually the very first time I’ve even heard of this law, completely foreign to me. Just want to clarify in case anyone is thinking of shopping in NJ haha

Welcome back to the East Coast and congratulations on finding your dream apartment! 🎉 Also as a gal living in NJ I feel it’s my duty to clarify that it’s actually only one county (Bergen) that has blue laws. 😅 Not the state. It’s a super outdated law all counties except Bergen opted out of. From what I understand it has become a weird way for the county to curb hectic weekend traffic on Sundays …. Since a lot of stores will just close for the day instead of worrying about what they can/can’t sell. Just a tip in case you ever have to do some Sunday shopping in Jers again. Haha.

Mostly just meant grocery stores + coffee shops, but I'm not familiar with the area so of course can't speak to more than what the broker and a quick glance at google maps told me.
