As someone who lived in Grand Lake when this happened, I can tell you a lot more people in Granby and the surrounding area have sympathy for Heemeyer than you would think. He got raked over the coals by some small town town crooks and didn't take it lying down. And he wasn't the first person in those parts something like that happened to, just the first one who did something about it.

Once you read the real story it's clear Heemeyer was a flat out lunatic. He was treated badly but he was also a paranoid delusional psycho with a long history of being an asshole to that whole community. He used a buried cement truck as a septic tank. He heard god tell him to go on a rampage. He fired indiscriminately at people. Yet you have folks that will lie and prop this lunatic up as some folk hero. Nobody that actually lived there has any sympathy towards this guy. He was the local asshole that thought he could do what he wanted and got his ass shut down. All this ass clown had to do was build a real septic system and stop dumping his waste in neighboring properties. Instead he buried a cement truck and fought the city.
