There are banned items, and the devs even personally take their time to read the capsules. Its a slow process, but the list of approved capsules are ever 3xpanding thanks to them, and when your game starts it takes a few randomly from that ever-growing list and throws them on your planet somewhere. Banned items include hatching enzymes, and kynaite among other things, they don't want a timecapsule to ever "ruin" someone's game by skipping them ahead to far.

The bulb zone really isn’t that dangerous, that’s where I built my base and I spent a LOT of time there. Occasionally a creature might attack you, but perimeter defense or a stasis rifle is the most you’ll ever need.

@@coleauten5612 , creature attacks are a problem. But, one thing you’ll never have to worry about in that biome, is dying of thirst. Those Bulb Bush plants are worth a great many bottles of water. (I prefer to take samples elsewhere and plant a garden.)

In my current run on Subnautica, I've found two time capsules. One had a seaglide and the other has a thremoknife, scanner, repair tool, flashlight, laser cutter, and I forget the last thing but it was another tool. Only problem was I already had all of these so they're just hanging out in my life pod. I'm about to reach the Thermal Plant, so I'm almost done with the game and will be releasing my own time capsule soon. I plan to put some Kyanite in it.

I have a survival world where I found a capsule that had a few things in it including a deep shroom spores and gel sac spores. Those deep shroom spores were SO helpful because I could get same more advanced stuff with out having to go down to the lost river. Thank you whoever made the capsule!

I really wanna make a time capsule and fill it with Magnetite. I find it to be the hardest mineral to get, I always run into trouble with reapers. Sure it's more troublesome to get nickel and kyanite, but once you get to the lost river or the lava zone these are plenty.

Personally, I agree with this choice. Magnetite is a bit of a pain to get compared to its early game usefulness, and its one of those things you don't really need a lot of; it's kind just a progression check at best, and an annoying slog at worst. Magnetite definitely makes sense to me as a timecapsule entry; to those lucky few who find it early enough, it'll be an absolute godsend. Further info: most useful reason to get magnetite is for quality of life upgrades, like a few scanner room upgrades and some other things. The things you use it for actually progression based tend to need other progression-based items anyway, so getting magnetite from a time capsule really wouldn't sequence break so much as just make the early game shorter and less tedious.

Don’t listen to anybody’s stupid advice on what to put in your time capsule. 1. You can’t put hatching enzymes or blue tablets in a time capsule, if you do the time capsule won’t spawn, same with ion batteries and power cells. 2. Without time capsules, a player can get 3 cuddlefish eggs, despite it being rare for a player to use more than one, some play throughs I literally end up with 6 fuckin eggs because everybody puts them in. 3. If you want to actually help with endgame progression, put in a cyclops shield generator, that item is allowed, is difficult to craft, and is mandatory for completion 4. Put a sea glide in the capsule and I will kill you. 5. Food and water are good no matter who the player is and what stage they are in. 6. The greatest time capsule I ever got had titanium ingots and copper wire, this is the gold standard for time capsules

I found my first capsule today. Found 4 in the dunes literally within 5 minutes time. In total they had the fire knife x4, a creepervine sample x1, and the aurora model x2, and a laser cutter with NO BATTERY AT ALL IN IT! That's it. All 4 had pictures of their base which i thought was lame af. I've been putting a lot of thought into mine when I'm finished which i just started building in the lost river, and so far I've decided I'm going to put a deepshroom seed, an aerogel seed, and a blood oil. Haven't decided on the last 3 yet, but tomorrow I'm going to go thru the fabricator and see what items were a pain in the ass and see if i can incorporate a harder material with it. I'm also considering the scanner room hud.

I put about 4 nutrient blocks and 2 of the big water bottles cause weather you find it early or at the end you can't go wrong with lots of food especially when you your bases at the tree and your all the way down to the lava zones

I see everyone getting these amazing time capsules, then I get three in a row that have literally no items contained within them and about two with a Seaglide. You have to be kidding me...Please put something good in your time capsules!? Tips to a great Time Capsule. -By Vixxian 1. No Tools, no one is going to use your tools unless you have an endgame Ion battery contained within it. I mean seriously, by the time you find a time capsule you usually have every type of tool. 2. No plants, food, or water. This stuff is only temporary peeps. No one needs food or water in a time capsule, even if they are starving or dehydrated. It's their fault they are in the middle of nowhere with no food or water relying on a time capsule to save their life! You can find plant seeds on the Degasi Island, just tell them that as a tip in the writing section!? 3. Cyclops Modules, supply your time capsules with atleast one of these items, especially the ones that are hard to obtain. It makes the grind less painful. All you have to do is save, then grab a module or two out of your Cyclops and put them inside your time capsule. 4. Hatching Enzymes, If you don't supply your time capsule with this item you must love watching the world burn. I know you were at the end of the game so excited to finally beat it and get cured. Then you saw you had to make this godforsaken creation, to hatch a few eggs. It would take you less time to find these ingredients again, than for someone else to stumble upon this same situation and for them to have to search for the ingredients as well. Just tell them in the description of your time capsule that they will need the hatching enzymes. Don't spoil the whole entire hecking game for them though by adding a picture of the leviathan you mongrel. 5. Cuddle Fish Eggs, I mean seriously? One of these couldn't hurt. Can't say that the person you give it to won't put the Cuddle Fish in their bioreactor, but atleast you are helping them in someway. 6. Blue Tablet, Remember how you found this silly little tablet in a specialized location and realized you had to craft another one!? You could save them sometime by warning the player that this will be a problem you will run into. (Without spoiling everything.) Hmm I wonder where the second Blue Tablet went...How did she even get a hold of that tablet anyway!? There's possibly other things I didn't mention, but you can make your Time Capsule seem interesting as well. Make your own story or something cool with it. In the end I'll gladly take your disgusting Seaglide than nothing at all. I'm so lucky oml. I was late game, (lava zone late) i went down my usual lost river hole into the lava zone, somehow I stumbled upon a time capsule down there, in the lost river, on the side of one of the acid rivers. I opened it and it had a thermal blade, 2 cuddlefish eggs, a waterproof locker FULL of nickel, and a prawn suit mk2 depth module. The message was "Hello there! I see you have stumbled upon my time capsule. I have since left this planet, and left you a gift. In this capsule I give you my favourite tool, my thermal blade, a strange locker with a certain material that you won't need yet, but trust me, don't throw it away, it'll be useful! Anyway, you will have a depth module for a very important vehicle you may or may not have yet. I have also given you 2 friends, named cuddlefish. Make sure to say farewell to them! :) Good luck on your adventures, I hope you have a great time here on this planet too.

Think some mid-high tier equipment was removed as well but stuff like the lamp, scanner worked. Fun fact: i placed a spam E-mail inside it with a nice text and asked for a message. Just started my second play through of the game and found 2 time capsules within an hour. One of them has the thermal blade which was really nice to have early. Well, im a little late, but in one of my old worlds(that sadly got deleted for some reason) i had a grand total of 9 Cuddlefish... The 5 you can obtain in-Game, and 4 from Time capsules... I even somehow managed to get the same one twice Note: If you wonder, how i foud all of those Time Capsuels, ther is a mod (after 1.2 only for legacy sadly) with which you can scan for them in the scanner room.

On the official wiki you apparently cant put ion items in the capsuls but before you could I found one very early game and it had 2 ion batteries, 2 ion power cells and a heated knife it was like a christmas morning but that was back when they first released 1.0 in 2018

*Blood Kelp Zone. *Bone Fields Caves. *Bulb Zone. *Bulb Zone Caves. *Crash Zone Mesas. *Deep Sparse Reef. *Dunes. *Grand Reef. *Lost River. But your safest bet is the Deep Spares Reef. The only hostile creatures in this biome are the tiger plants (easy to avoid), and bleeders (extremely annoying but easy to get rid of).
